Hi all,

I've been following the threads since 2nd July 2018 and Websleuths since the Tia Sharp case. I was desperately hoping this would be wrapped up once and for all sometime today and I've spent the last week re-reading the threads. I wished I hadn't.

Being 16, seems like a lifetime ago and will for many of you too. I can't comprehend taking such an opportunity to ruin your life within a couple of hours in such a violent, sadistic way.
Since Alesha's death I've welcomed my own little boy and my emotions have been high throughout the threads and Twitter feeds. I grieve for all three families. I grieve for Alesha's who will never see her go to big school, make new friends, go to university, maybe get married maybe have children. I grieve for Janette and her daughter who are now at the mercy of vigilantes and in some way, I grieve for the little boy that grew into committing this utterly heinous crime, as I look at my own boy and can't believe at one point, the murderer would have been a smiley happy baby. A bright boy who would have no doubt gone on be successful had he not taken the path he took.
Having looked at all the evidence presented to the public, I have no doubt but hope his sentence is increased. I do not believe any good can come out of a reduced sentence for his sake or for the publics. I see no reason why he would not commit another murder if he were to be realised. This was an opportunistic crime where I truly believe he was out to kill someone else other than Alesha but she was an easy target. In my opinion, he is not just a danger to children, he is a danger to everyone. I do not believe he has told the truth about how he got her out of the flat, I do not believe we will ever know.

I never planned on posting in a websleuths thread but this case has had me gripped from the start. I don't think I will comment on a thread again but wanted to thank other users for following Twitter and posting timelines and to those who attended and were able to give us a deeper insight into the sentencing.

I hope we don't have to wait long for a decision to be finalised. Cheers again.

Thanks Taylor for all the information. Sounds like an interesting day. Don't know whether to think anything about the silent stillness. Guess he wasn't meant to talk but he clearly hasn't gone out of his way to make amends.

Did he look any different? Just wondering if he's kept in shape

No, not really any different. I suppose he night have lost some muscle mass if he's not been exercising for a year? But I gather he’s always been fairly slim.

I think the media played up his bench pressing etc a lot in the lead up to the trial. As far as I could see from his photos and police mugshot he just looked like the size of a normal teenager, not a bodybuilder.

Top Scots lawyer appointed judge

Some background on Judge Lady Scott who was one of the three to hear the appeal today.

Interesting reading ...re her high profile cases as a QC prior to being appointed.

“As well as the Lockerbie appeal, she represented Jodi Jones' killer Luke Mitchell during his bid to take his appeal to the UK Supreme Court“
Lady Scott wasnt presiding over today's appeal. It was Lady Dorian, Lord Menzies and Lord Drummond Young.

Can anyone confirm who the three judges are ?
Some news sites quote Lady Scott as being one of the three whilst others are stating the judges are Lady Dorrian, sitting alongside Lord Menzies and Lord Drummond Young. ???

Yeah. Sky and the Daily Mail are usually a bit dodgy.

McConnachie now discussing Campbell’s psychology reports from Dr Johnson and Dr Macpherson. He says the sentencing judge “fell into the trap of being influenced by the reports in reference to setting the punishment part of his sentence”. The judge is asking him to explain.

I find that quite offensive language to use when describing a High Court Judge

I thought so too. When i read it at first i was a bit shocked, it's a bit disresepctful imo.
