It's called first light but there's so little light at that point that it's still essentially pitch black dark, there wouldn't be anywhere near enough light coming through the window for you to see properly.

My personal speculation is that he turned the light on at the end of his shower to check for traces of blood in the shower (presumably it was blood being showered off).

That makes a lot of sense - even if not much light, he could have managed a shower , then a quick check before leaving.

Court hears the accused’s mum saying when he was seen on CCTV returning home for the second time “it didn’t look as if he had something in his hand” - he was seen leaving carrying “what appeared to be a black t-shirt”

The prosecution shows further CCTV of the accused leaving the house for a third time at 3.58am, fully clothed and running with a torch, returning 9 minutes later. Accused’s mum says she hadn’t seen this footage before now.

We read and sleuth some awful crimes on here dont we, but I have to say this is one of the most sickening I have ever encountered. I sincerely hope - if guilty of course - that he doesn't end up in some kind of youth detention prison, followed by being back out in 10 years or less, with a new identity. I honestly don't think he is curable.

Nope, I can’t imagine this guy ever walking the streets again or being rehabilitated. This is evil to the core. He will firstly go to polmont young offenders institute in Falkirk until he is 21 thereby he will be transferred to a men’s prison. My guess would be Peterhead in Aberdeen where they seem to place all the beasts. Or maybe he will grace Shotts in Glasgow which is meant to be a tough jail. As long as it’s not Edinburgh’s Saughton because the place is a holiday camp (according to inmates). IMHO he will be a total outcast and I hope he lives in fear daily for his safety....

Definitely. Gone back with a torch to get a proper look with some light.
Is 9 mins enough time? His house is over half a mile away from the crime scene. He would have had to run pretty fast there and back to have any time to "check" anything.

Did they find the ‘hoody’?

I agree re the distance - it is not feasible - I think more like he went to check the clothing had been washed away

Accused’s mother shown picture of knife recovered on the shore. “It could be from my knife set from my kitchen” she says. She’s shown a hooded top in court. “Yes I would say that was similar to one of his tops” she says.

I dont think 9 minutes , round trip, would cover that distance, even running

So possibly dumping evidence then?

So, he leaves a third time....with a TORCH ! Is a torch a flashlight? IMO, He wasn't that drunk because he is definitely freaking out about trying to cover his tracks. Frantically jumping walls, showering and coming and going with or without clothing. He may have been somewhat under the influence of alcohol but he clearly knows he needs to cover his tracks and, it appears to me, he is frantically trying to do so. Basically 4 am on a Monday morning. Such strange behavior. !!

More CCTV of accused 'running out of the house' shown to court

The prosecution shows further CCTV of the accused leaving the house for a third time at 3.58am, fully clothed and running with a torch, returning 9 minutes later.

The accused’s mother says she hadn’t seen this footage before now.

Alesha MacPhail's body had 117 injuries - but her bare feet were unmarked

He was bound to be sobered up.. IMO, when you are drunk and something happens you snap back to reality, you panic.. Maybe not completely sober obviously, but he was aware of his actions
