Thanks to everyone for all the reporting on the trial. I'm in the States but learned about this little girls disappearance when she went missing because I always read BBC news and this crime happened just three weeks before my husband and I were going to vacation in Scotland for two weeks. I have to say it is driving me crazy that I do not know the identity of this young man (killer) on trial.
I cannot imagine, as others are saying, how a reportedly drunk 16 year old managed to take this girl from her room. It is really perplexing. I question the Mom's truth as to how much her son drank and "how drunk" he really may have been, because now that her son is on trial the mom is going to look for anything to mitigate his actions (murder).
I know the mom called the police to say her son had been out and I do believe that was partly because she did think, knowing he was out at those hours of the early morn, that perhaps he witnessed something and could be of assistance. But I also think, not too far in the back of her head, she was absolutely considering the possibility of his part in Alesha's disappearance which is why it took a friend to convince her to contact the police. "He" , from what I've read, sounds like a nightmare of a son to contend with and I do agree with other's opinion that mom was likely intimidated by him and "picked her battles." It does not sound like mom has too much control over the 16 year old, nor her 14 year old. Why the heck did she let her 14 year old daughter leave with her sons older friends at 12:30 am after the post exam party. Geez.
I do not buy a word of the defense's argument suggesting that Toni had anything to do with Alesha's murder, nor did Toni meet the accused and have sex with him that night/early morning. That is ludicrous and the jury will see it as such, imo. It is obvious the accused has to come up with something because he surely has no intent on pleading guilty so, unfortunately, he has fabricated an outrageously untruthful account of his actions that night because in reality that is his only option (mud slinging). I feel for Toni being accused of any hand in any of Alesha's murder. Shame on this vindictive killer!
My biggest question too is why did he kill her and why so brutally. Was there some animosity, deep seated, that the accused held toward Toni or Alesha's father, I think there was/is. I do not believe Toni had any thing more than a casual relationship with the accused but I do believe the accused may have either "been interested in her" or "had/has it out for her." for whatever reason. But why pick a beautiful little six year old girl to victimize, just WHY ?. This 16 year old is the worst of the worst out there in my mind's eye. I am not so patiently waiting for him to be found guilty so I may learn his identity and view his social media "stuff" to maybe answer some questions.
Anyways, thanks again for reporting the on-going trial. Prayers for Alesha and all of her family as they endure this hellish trial. I hope the trial ends sooner than later and the family can get on with healing.
