Accused was contributing to group chat about Alesha’s death “most of the day”. She says accused was chipping in with rumour and speculation about what happened. He wondered how Alesha could have got out of the house.

Thanks Edinlass, I hope he is never released either but for some reason I thought that a Life sentence in Scotland was actually serving a maximum of only twenty years. I will have to learn a bit more. I know in Canada it is twenty years max if given a "life" sentence, at least was forever unless that has changed.

The accused teen invited members of a Snapchat group chat to a party the night Alesha died, the court has heard.

The 16-year-old witness, described as a “friend”, tells jurors the boy invited everyone in the group to an event at his home.

She also says he was chipping in with rumours and speculation about what might have happened to the youngster after she was found dead.

The girl is giving evidence behind a screen to protect her identity.

A 16 year old girl has been called as a witness. She described the accused as a "good friend". She says a group chat both of them were in was "going all day" with chat about where missing girl Alesha MacPhail could be. The girl says they later found out the child was dead.

I really hope he takes to the stand. He's the kind of cocky who will drop himself in it if he does. I wouldn't be surprised if the advice from his counsel was to plead guilty but he probably thinks he can "win" in court.

Jurors have heard the accused teen shared a video of himself and wrote: “FOUND THE GUY WHO’S DONE IT.”

The witness says the boy posted the footage in the Snapchat group chat, showing his body in a mirror - but not his face.

She says he then sent the message reading “FOUND THE GUY WHO’S DONE IT”, which she thought was a “joke”.

The girl tells the defence other people in the group were also making comments which would be looked upon as “bad taste” She says it wasn’t a known fact Alesha had been murdered at the time the video was sent.
