It was so thoughtful of the lady to take the poor dog to the vet.
Those people who found Anita
(a cyclist, a dog walker, a jogger)
were so helpful, so caring.
And now,
helping the Court to bring her Justice.

I would have liked Anita!

She was a person who was a responsible dog owner—she walked a quality walk with her dog Bruce regularly.

She was thoughtful of others: her friend said she liked to take the dog out early because she didn’t want her misbehaving dog to bother others.

She had humor, telling her partner “I’m walking your bloody dog already”, even though it belonged to both of them.

She was thoughtful, as I said, and loving, too: The last thing she said to her lorry driver partner was “drive safe, I love you”.

Possibly still connected to Bluetooth re: lack of sound.

Statements by different individuals who came upon the scene after Anita was attacked. From this LINK.

Of Anita:

was wearing a black bra that did not look like a sports bra. No long sleeved top like one would expect, because there was a chill in the air

lying with her head to the sewage works fence

left arm was “in a bit of an odd position”.
Another said, “I do not know if her arm was broken. She was moving her arm slightly.”

According to the vet office receptionist, she heard the lead was “wrapped around the lady’s legs and paramedics had to cut it”

The trial is not sitting on Thursday and Friday, and continues from Monday, June 9.

Seems the barbed wire around the sewage treatment works was possibly cut not long before the attack.

"Mr Paxton said: "This barbed wire fence was right on the route Anita walked - it brought Roy Barclay and Anita together, with Roy Barclay in a place he should not have been at the Brantham sewage works.

"Whether cutting that barbed wire or not, or on his way in or out, being seen by Anita who was passing would be the very thing he would not want - he could not risk a picture being taken or Anita making a phone call."

Barbed wire was cut close to where dog walker was found beaten, court hears

Wow!

From the link above:

" 'It might not be a place of interest to most of us with its secured perimeter barbed wire fence,
but Roy Barclay,
with no fixed address and living off grid,
needed a place like Brantham sewage works because
it had a washing facility.
Albeit it was locked',
said Mr Paxton.

He told the court that following the alleged attack on Ms Rose
,
Barclay had carried out an internet search under the heading:
'Can barbed wire be swabbed for DNA'."

To add
I remember
one of my earlier theory was that the victim might have caught the perp/s doing something unlawful.
And taking a photo.

Imagine him on the picture,
while being on the run from Authorities!

But then,
he didn't destroy the phone,
but let others steal it.

But she was a witness.

Mr Nash said the man - Mr Tassel - was "on the phone to the ambulance". He said of the woman lying on the floor, Ms Rose: "I do not know if her arm was broken. She was moving her arm slightly." He continued: "Her face was covered with blood and looked black and blue. She was breathing and making a croaking sound."

He said he did not know her but "I now know her name was Anita". "She was wearing a black bra but it didn't look like a sports bra," said Mr Nash. "She had no long-sleeved top on. At that time in the morning I thought it was unusual as there was a slight chill in the air."

BBC/Google A map showing details of an app Anita Rose was using, which charted her movements.'1. 05:01: Seen leaving her home in Brantham.2. Begins to walk back (retracing earlier route)3. 06:03 App recording stopped (approx a quarter of way back home)4. 06:25 Anita found with serious head injuries' (off the route she had walked)'

Giving evidence, Ms Island said she was the second person to arrive at the scene.

She said she did not know Ms Rose but had seen her on dog walks before.

Ms Island said she believed an "attack had happened" as Ms Rose would not normally be out only wearing a bra and it was a cool morning.

She said Ms Rose had "laboured breathing" and patches of blood on her face.

The court was shown CCTV footage of a man walking in the area known as Kettles on Rectory Lane in Brantham on the morning Ms Rose was attacked.

A number of agreed facts were read to the jury in court, including that Mr Barclay now accepted he was the person in the footage at 05:33 and 05:37 BST on 24 July.

The trial previously heard that Ms Rose left her home at around 05:00 and was found with serious head injuries at 06:25 near Brantham sewage works.

In another of the agreed facts, the court was told Mr Barclay accepted he was the person captured on CCTV in central Ipswich on 27 July, close to where Ms Rose's phone was found.

The accused ‘liked’ a Facebook post on Sept 15 (Anita was attacked on July 24) of quotes by author George Orwell from 1984, of a dystopian society:

"War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.”

“If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—for ever.” George Orwell

( ^ Bolded by me 😡)

"Three weeks after the attack
Mr Barclay made two searches on Facebook for Ms Rose's partner, Richard Jones,
Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Facebook searches for Richard Jones
- the long-term partner of Ms Rose -
were made on separate occasions,
the prosecution said.

They said
the first was on 13 August
and the second on 17 September."

It reminds me of other perps who used to relish the devastation of family members.

Or was he searching for info concerning the investigation?

"Murder accused lied about identity,

court hears.

Det Con Barry Simpson said
that on 15 October,
Mr Barclay gave Suffolk Police a fake name and said he lived at an address in Manningtree, Essex.

Det Con Simpson told the court
that he spotted Mr Barclay near the White Bridge between Manningtree and Brantham
and thought he looked similar to a man the police were trying to trace as part of the investigation into Ms Rose's death.

The police officer said
he used his mobile phone to film Mr Barclay walking along the road
and then later spoke to him and took his photograph.
'He seemed quite nervous, quite anxious',
said Det Con Simpson.

The defendant said his name was John Lesley
and that he worked as a gardener."

Further evidence heard

But ...

Sorry folks,
All behind a paywall :(
(How strange for local Media)

"Anita Rose murder trial latest hears about makeshift camps.

"A pink jacket and a mobile phone case belonging to a Suffolk woman who died after being badly beaten
was found in a makeshift camp belonging to a homeless man in the village,
a court has heard."

"Further evidence

heard in Anita Rose Brantham murder trial.

1750350122519.webp

Paramedics who were called to assist a dog walker whose badly beaten body was discovered on a footpath in Brantham last summer
found her dog lead had been tightly wrapped round her leg,
a court has heard."

I guess the trial is slowly coming to the end.

Detective Constable B. Simpson stopped and spoke to the accused on Oct 15 when he spotted him walking down a road. He stopped him because he thought he resembled the man they were looking for in their inquiries.

The accused gave a false name and address to the officer. DC Simpson surreptitiously took his photo and let him go on his way.

But when it was discovered the next day that the identity information he was given was false, a manhunt began. On Oct 21, Barclay was tracked to and arrested at the Ipswich Library.

A video of his arrest at the library is at the link.
He doesn’t say anything.

(eta: oh, I see this is essentially the same info Dotta posted a couple of posts ago..)

The jury was told about the accused’s prior attack on an 82-year old man back in 2015. The victim in that case survived, but had severe injuries.

Quote:
Police were told Mr Barclay came from behind and jumped on the 82-year-old's back, before kneeling on his leg and repeatedly punching him in the face.

Mr Gunfield was taken to hospital and and needed 10 titanium plates, fitted and secured with screws.

The m.o. sounds similar, doesn’t it? jmo

It does indeed. And carried out on a 57 year old woman and an 82 year old man - pathetic.

"Barclay who has a white beard, thinning hair and glasses
was wearing a grey tracksuit as he sat impassively in the glass-fronted dock flanked by three security guards.

He denies the murder of Ms Rose.

The trial continues."

"Thinning hair" is a bit of an understatement! Looks quite frail and weak, hard to imagine him capable of the sadistic and cowardly acts he is accused of.
