IMO, Wendy's murder was too "slick" to be his first ever murder, if that makes sense. No-one heard anything, he was quick, knew where to strike and certainly did not hesitate.
Was it "slick" though? The features of Wendy's killing, that we know about, would, I feel, place it into the FBI serial killer category of "disorganised".
I know that DF does not fit the category of serial killer, with our knowledge of the extent of his murderous offending, but he was well on the way.
What leads me to think that Wendy was his first victim is that he attacked her in her home and left her body in situ, with all the forensic opportunities available, even at the time. I'm not convinced that DF intended to kill when he entered the flat.
This makes me believe that it is more likely that he was in the bedsit when she arrived home. He disabled her immediately, giving her no opportunity to scream or fight back. She probably died very soon after before he sexually abused her.
This could explain why no neighbours were alerted to sounds of a disturbance if they were in close proximity.
A few months later Caroline was attacked before entering her bedsit, which had a rear access down some steep steps to the rear of the building.
We believe that she screamed and this was heard by people living nearby.
As Caroline was also bludgeoned about the head and strangled, but with no evidence of being restrained or gagged, I assume she was unconscious, if not dead, a very short time later.
DF could have taken Caroline into the bedsit to carry out post mortem abuse. It is believed he took the keys.
However, DF took Caroline away from the scene of the original attack, most obviously in a vehicle, before eventually disposing of her in a remote location, in water, having removed personal effects and all but her tights.
I believe that this demonstrates a significant degree of reflection, progression and planning by DF following the murder of Wendy. Planning intended to frustrate, recovery, identification and destroy forensic evidence.
This is why I consider the murder of Wendy to be DF's first killing.
I know the available material reporting Jean Brook's murder is limited. However, a key element of DF's MO is the sexual abuse after death.
The details of this have rightly not been reported in the case of Wendy or Caroline, but that it was evident in both cases would make it something one would expect to find with the victims of other murders committed by DF. I suspect this is why police have previously said they are not connecting the death of Jean with Wendy and Caroline. JMO MOO
