So will there be a verdict by Wed eve do you think? How long do jurys usually take. Aw hopefully justice for Arthur is coming soon and they can give the little guy a proper send off

It’s anyones guess how long it will take, each case is different. There’s a lot to unpack in this case and a lot of charges to consider. My guess is that one defendant will have their fate sealed quickly. The other one may need a bit of a debate and re going over all the evidence before a verdict is reached. It’s basically anyones guess…

Big time, you would say something straight away and tell your daughter to cop on! Insane they let it happen in their house and then banning the child from the house, instead of helping him, off the wall
It's insane. I think her mother and step dad aren't the full shilling. He couldn't remember who made the call to SS. How could you forget something like that?!!

An example of a Dysfunctional family at its finest!

If my kids friends are here at dinner time (which invariably they are), i automatically make them food too? At any given time I can have 4 extra children in this house and if we’re eating, then they’re eating too.
Yes, what's the alternative? You're all munching and there's little people watching you eat??!! All the people involved with ET seem so taken in by her. The mind boggles.

15:02 His brother became 'stricter' with Arthur
Mr Hughes says Arthur 'idolised' his grandfather while his grandmother took on the role of 'someone to provide care'.

He states when he met Tustin and tried to talk or 'have a laugh' with her she appeared 'very, very cold' adding: "I got very little back from her."

Mr Hughes tells the court his brother's relationship with Tustin appeared to move 'very quickly' and adds: "I had my concerns it was moving too quickly and they didn't know each other well enough."

He tells the court his brother would argue with him more over little things after he met Tustin. Mr Hughes recalls an incident where he was only wearing shorts in front of Tustin because he had just come out of the shower.

He says: "Tom said Emma believed I was showing off for her."

Mr Hughes states his brother became 'stricter' with Arthur and would 'punish him for more and more minor infractions that weren't an issue before'.

He says he made a 'passing comment' that the pink chair was 'not fair' but his brother told him it was not any of his business so he never mentioned it again
So...
She practically accused the brother of flirting with her.

She knows which buttons to press, I grant her that.

I think the step-father’s evidence is about as trustworthy as hers imo

Yes, I wasn't convinced by any of it. So we're supposed to believe one grown man was too scared of TH to say 'enough is enough', or 'in my house if one has, they all have'.
And obviously he also painted ET to be a vulnerable person. I don't think there's anything vulnerable about her.

I don’t know why I think this, but I get the impression ET and her family are deemed as “rough”. I think between her conduct on the stand, SH in general and the step father being politely told to wind his neck in, is how I came to that impression? TH family seem the polar opposite. Again pure speculation on my part.

I think this too. One is going to be a fairly quick deliberation. The other.... a bit longer. Suppose it also depends on who Monday's witness is o_O

Yep. I remember the stepfather, when speaking about his alleged call to SS, saying "it could have been my grandchild" and thinking, hang on Arthur IS effectively another grandchild

also, he was caught out lying about the SS call, he never actually made it, nor did her mother but he insisted he did, then that ET’s mom did and then said he can’t remember….very similar to what ET has being doing on the stand

Oh my! Is that why the whole argument on the stand came about?

I believe it turned out to be ETs mother who had. If I remember correctly.
It was never made by either of them, there were no logs at all

ET, her family and SH are from an area that has a very bad and notorious reputation, not everyone that lives there will be rough, but the reputation precedes it as an area that most people wouldn’t choose to live in out of choice, it is the biggest area for social housing in Solihull and has a lot of 60’s high rise flats, it’s being re-generated or re-gentrified as North Solihull because the name has such a bad reputation. There is a lot of crime and most of Solihull’s drug raids and knife crimes are in that area, it’s called Chelmsley Wood.

TH’s family live in a nice part of Solihull (Shirley), I think I read she is a secondary school teacher.

I missed that bit! I also missed the bit about the car ride where TH said he was taking Arthur to see his granny and grandad.

Ah yes, Chelmsley Wood!

I read secondary school teacher and also read teaching assistant. Either way, a nurturing and rewarding job focussed around children. Also trained in safeguarding and spotting subtle and not so subtle signs of neglect/abuse I might add. Her word should have held more weight with SS… I feel desperately sorry for her, I really do

She just got pushed aside didn't she. And ETs word held more weight than the picture that wasn't even seen until after the visit.
