I'm so sorry for what you had to live as a child, and the fact that it will continue to affect you is heartbreaking. The people I've met who've most successfully dealt with their childhood abuse, and managed to process it best saw themselves as survivors. Some people do not deserve to have children.[/QUOTE

thank you. I appreciate that. Oh many survivors are very successful and happy, but the trauma never goes away. Many of us are proactive about therapy and healing. Not everyone ends up on drugs, I probably shouldn’t have stated Arthur would end up on drugs. Substance abuse is often a side effect or trauma but not always. The fact he had other family members who loved him probably would have done wonders for him. They would have believed him and validated him. In fact I’d like to think they may have eventually been the ones to save him from his environment.

I questioned this but there are defendants that haven’t attended or participated in their trial. Stephen Beadman for example.
Who is Stephen Beadman?

So....
Another day wasted I guess.

But Arthur’s grandmother reported it to social services. They were not interested in seeing the bruise photo. The neighbours repeatedly reported it to both the police and social services. There was ample warning. No they didn’t directly murder him, but there were missed opportunities to rescue him. They deserve some blame.
They absolutely do deserve blame. Plenty people reported this. And charities of all kinds were sounding the alarm, that lockdown would embolden abusers, and people would die. Any reported concern should have been looked at seriously due to the reduced 'eyes' on people.
When the SW saw the bruise there should have been some kind of follow up. They didn't follow correct procedure. Lots of things should have raised alarm bells, TH wanting to meet in a car park. Her elder children being removed. Her suicide attempt.
I'm not defending them, their conduct was below expected standards.
But TH sat there meekly, and made no disclosure or attempt to contradict ET. Their behaviour is ultimately what killed Arthur.

There are many cases of defendants refusing to come out of their cells, trials proceeded without them. Ben Butler was one such murderer (of daughter Ellie Butler) who wouldn't leave his cell below court for part of the case, and I was in the public gallery when it happened. I think this judge is letting everyone down. IMO

@Chessgirl I get exactly what you're saying. Lots of my patients do end up on drugs or in jail. They can't process their past because they've never known love. They can't regulate their emotions and blame themselves for what they had to endure.

Wasn’t he the guy who went on TV? I watched his interview and thought he was a creep. Didn't believe him for a second

I don't remember him being on TV but I might have forgotten that. Serial abuser of women then beat his 6 year old daughter Ellie to death. Claimed she jumped off the bed dancing to Peppa Pig.

Actually, now I think about it he might have been interviewed in relation to brain and eye injuries Ellie sustained from being shaken by him when she was a baby, and burning her on a radiator, claiming he had nothing to do with either incident.

He was on This Morning I think. I'm sure it's available on YouTube

If only. I don’t think that’s legally allowed though.

And then accuse the Court of drugging her?
She is very, and I mean VERY, cunning.

You can give a low dose of diazepam or lorazepam. It helps to calm the nerves. It's prescribed for nervous fliers, or before minor medical procedures. She'd not be drugged.
