I really hope something comes of this and there are changes made and an Arthurs law put in place to prevent something like this happening again.

The extent of that abuse became apparent during this investigation and trial. He had been completely isolated from his extended family. He was forced to live a solitary and lonely life within your home, including being made to stand to attention alone in the hallway of the house for most of the day. The CCTV recovered from your home revealed that he had been made to stand in this way for over 14 hours on 12th June, almost 12 hours on 13th June, almost 11 hours on 14th June and 6 ½ hours on 15th June. Although no CCTV material was available for the time before 12th June, your text messages reveal that this was the pattern of Arthur’s life for many weeks before his death. He was not allowed any friendly interaction with you or to play with your children, Tustin, and was not allowed to return to school once his school reopened on 8th June. He was made to sleep downstairs on the hard floor without a mattress. In the last three months of Arthur’s life he was subjected to the most unimaginable suffering at the hands of both of you. You both told lies to conceal what was happening in that house – you Tustin to social services who came to visit in April and you Hughes to the school when Arthur did not return after lockdown etc. etc.

I'm asking the why over and over again....but we will not get an answer.....WHY!!??

There's another tragic case where I expect the jury to be sent out on Monday and hopefully the verdicts won't take too long. Similar in that social services had been alerted on numerous occasions about the danger this poor baby was in.
One would hope that two such shocking cases - and cases where social services were notified many times yet failed stupendously - will cause such outrage that serious changes will be made.

Biomom posted photos of a very happy boy, also quite eloquent and heartful statement.

I don’t think baby Star’s case will get as much attention, or as much concern from the authorities. The truth is that part of the reason social services failed Star was because they decided that the five reports were malicious due to them being a same sex couple. I don’t think they’ll want to draw attention to anything like that.

I have been wondering whether the lies ET told were delusional, or 100% conscious? How aware was she that her narrative was nonsense?

To any normal person, the idea that a six year old (let alone a frail one) could “batter” a grown man and destroy a house is complete lunacy, yet ET obviously thought it was realistic enough to use as an explanation for the police. That makes me think she has a seriously warped view of reality, which is shaped by her emotions (namely her hatred of Arthur), rather than her emotions being shaped by reality like normal people.

She spent so much time being utterly obsessed with every step Arthur took , recording him multiple times, playing around with his food, texting abt Arthur. I wonder what sort of attention her own kids got from her!!!!

she was just unnaturally obsessed by destroying that sweet boy.

I will never forget this little boy Arthur. The CCTV footage of him barely able to lift his bedding, limping, will forever be burned on my retina. Don't ask me why I feel so much pain and have to cry for this particular child...I don't know this right now. For me it's like he represents all the horrible things I've seen and read about child abuse in the last couple of years and what, so called parents, did to there own offspring. Or all the horrible things that happened to children in their girlfriends/boyfriends, stepmother/stepfather's care..... Call it overflowing....For me it's beyond everything I can relate to. IMO if you ever feel you can't control your bad feelings, frustration or whatever that's bothering you and you are on the edge, wanting to do this kind of horrible things to a child, you should run as fast as you can to get professional help for yourself. Before it's escalating into this kind of situations....

I feel the same way you do. I’m not a Dad but I feel absolutely heartbroken and so despondent about what happened to little Arthur. When I saw his picture on the front pages of all the newspapers in the supermarket yesterday I could have broke down and not stopped it was so hard to prevent myself from doing so.

I do hope that that the public anger and revulsion the majority of the public feel will force changes to be made so that everything humanely possible is done to ensure no child to suffers the torture and murder Arthur did. I thought and hoped that would be the case after what happened to Baby Peter but tragically more children are still being severely let down. It is not satisfactory for the government just to say lessons will be learned. What happened to Arthur and all the failings that were made in not protecting him cannot happen ever again.

I hope beautiful Arthur can rest easy now bless him. Fingers crossed those animals get a big dose of karma, they'll be targets in prison.
I'd like to think the families can resolve the dispute about his final resting place. Arthur needs to be given an amazing send off and a beautiful spot somewhere. My heart breaks thinking of him still lying in a morgue after all this time :(

It is absolutely horrendous Arthur has not been given a funeral and a grave. I hope that this happens as soon as possible.

What happened to Arthur will not and should not be forgotten. There needs to be whole life prison terms for individuals who torture and/or murder a child. I’m glad they got long sentences but they still aren’t enough because they should never be released. They should not be allowed to be part of society after what they have done. Individuals like them cannot be rehabilitated they are evil and sadistic.

I also hope the woman who gave birth to Baby Peter’s parole is refused in January. It is absolutely outrageous that she is even being considered for parole.

Sorry about that Dotta :-) I hope you're OK! We can all put our phones down for a while now and hope there's never another case about a child suffering again.

Thank you all for the updates and discussion. Unfortunately, I don’t think it will be long before we are repeating these conversations again.

I just wanted to say thank you to all the members on here, it’s been good to be able to talk about this heartbreaking case and discussing the trial with you all. Our conversations have always been so civilised, respectful and insightful, even though we have been discussing the most saddest of cases and not always had the same opinions. Wishing each of you all the very best, thank you all for the conversations we’ve had over the past few weeks xxxxxx

She’s not his “biomom” she’s his mother.

This makes me so angry and sad. Star’s life was worth just as much as Arthur’s and for her not to be visible in the same way is heartbreaking.

It never is.

Here’s the cctv of the ice creams and McDonald’s incidents:
Evil dad & stepmum scoffed McDonald's & ice-cream as Arthur, 6, starved

Im really angry TH’s family’s statement keeps being shared, blaming ET for everything and entirely glossing over TH’s role. She is being absolutely demonised (and rightly so) in this statement and by the media, while her equally horrible boyfriend - Arthur’s actual father - goes under the radar.

Guess what? You can believe “for evermore” that Arthur would be alive if his dad had never met ET. But he would also have been alive if his dad had just said “no” to her.

He relished abusing his child, and it would likely have happened at some point regardless of ET.
