GUILTY UK - Arthur Labinjo Hughes, 6, killed, dad & friend arrested, June 2020 #3

'Put child abusers on register like sex beasts', demands Tony Hudgell's mum

'Change the law for Arthur' - that's the call from the adoptive mother of Tony Hudgell, who lost his legs after horrific abuse, as she demands a child abuse register following the shocking murder of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes

That is why the Government is being urged to set up a register of child abusers just like the one that already keeps tabs on sex beasts.

While it would not have prevented Arthur’s death it would ensure his killers are monitored on release.

The plea came from the adoptive mother of Tony Hudgell – who lost his legs because his parents tortured him so much as a baby.

I fully support this this kind of register it should exist already. If anyone convicted of torturing a child is released after serving their sentence they should not be allowed to be around anyone under the age of 18 again in their lifetime. Anyone who has harmed a child even if the child has not been murdered should not be allowed to be part of society again but if the judicial system is unwilling to give full life terms then they need to ensure these evil individuals are never around anyone under 18 again.

I sincerely hope the Monsters who harmed Arthur’s sentences will increase significantly after intervention by the Attorney General and judiciary. It concerns me that Arthur’s sperm donor, who is refuse to call his Father, is only 29 and he has only been sentenced to 21 years. He would only be 50 when released so it is possible he could conceive more children with a woman he meets if released. If that did happen it should not be possible for him to even be in the presence of his own child if released. He will be a danger to children for the rest of his life it is impossible for him to change from being a sadistic coward who is capable of causing grave harm to a child.

I think the best way Arthur’s life can be honoured is by forcing changes to the law to ensure no other child suffers the hellish existence and death he did.

A very tricky situation for both families. I feel for the maternal gran as she was cut out entirely from Arthur’s life by TH when he met ET. So she was none the wiser abt any abuse until she saw him on a ventilator in hospital
imagine her utter shock

Then again TH side offered Arthur a lot of love and care during the significant upheaval caused by the mums imprisonment.
arthur clearly loved them so much.

I wonder if it’s because either side don’t want the other to attend at all…. That’s very hard. I think a neutral ground where both can attend is best

I don’t envy the predicament they’re in

More I think abt it the more I’m sure ET concealed the bruise with make up or something when social services visited. They obv had notice they’re visiting as they came up with that half baked story abt the kids playing rough and that’s how he got the bruise.

Frustrating that social services didn’t want to actually see the bruise that was photographed a day before ….

Why would you not want to collate as much info and evidence before such visits? Really Blows my mind.

So I do believe the social worker didn’t see that bruise or a faded one at that ….

Also “hurt himself playing” is the standard line used by abusive parents. I’m surprised it was so easily and readily believed by them. Surely they’ve heard them all by now …

PM orders national inquiry into Arthur's appalling murder: Probe will examine role of police, schools and social services after missed chances to stop tragic six-year-old's death at hands of monster step-mother and father during lockdown

Boris Johnson is expected to announce a wide-ranging inquiry into the murder of six-year-old Arthur Labinjo-Hughes in an attempt to avert another such tragedy.

The investigation will involve police, schools, social services and probation watchdogs and is intended to learn lessons from what happened.

It is likely to consider whether guidelines should be put in place to help protect at-risk youngsters in the event of future national lockdowns.

This national enquiry needs to happen. What happened to young Arthur cannot happen again to another innocent child.

Another thing that should have been checked is if each child had his/her personal space (bed, desk for school things, etc.)
A red flag should have been this "camp bed" that Arthur had in the other boy's bedroom.
A child must have a normal bed with adequate mattress.
That is checked in my country when Social Service visits homes.

I wonder if they kept Arthur to get child benefits or maybe apply for a bigger place to live.

Is it really the systems that needs a change, or was it the individuals who went over to see Arthur?
They didn't do their job properly, it doesn't take loads more training to just speak to the child alone.
And do a bit of family research.

And the copper who went over, but was scared off from ET being hostile?

What needs to happen is in cases there needs to be punishment for those who miss these cases, and I mean jail time.
Maybe that's the kind of lesson that social worker needs.

But first bury him for God's sake!!!!!
Like a civilised human being!
I might obssess about it but my heart hurts when I think of him in that freezer :(
Remember D Fuller and the hospital morgue???
I might start a petition myself!
Totally agree with this Dotta! I can't stop thinking about him.

I agree wholeheartedly. The specific individuals conduct in this case needs to be investigated. Majority of the time social services are instrumental in rescuing children from danger !!

As always a few give the whole industry a bad name

I’m surprised the parents weren’t asked to leave at some point or they didn’t recognise how dominating ET was in the meeting

The copper who was deterred by her being hostile,… I don’t even know what to say to that. If she’s hostile to an adult in command….. I wonder why he thought a 6yo would be ok with her……

Child benefit for a third child is negligible and the council has no legal duty to rehouse a family of two same sex children and one opposite sex (in spite of what a lot of people think) Does the law set an age at which children can't share a bedroom?

The social workers really failed, however, unpopular opinion, there is only so much professionals can do. If someone wants to harm their child then they will. Also I don’t think their sentences will be increased. I think the judge sentenced them to what he could within the guidelines for their convictions.

If it is true what you say, then one can only cry on the state of society we live in.
You talk about guidelines and "professionals".
And yet, the child was tortured and then murdered without mercy.
And even his right to be buried with dignity has been denied.
The most vulnerable member of society who should have been cherished.
Well, but a "father" will be free in 14 years' time because the guidelines say so.
What are the guidelines for the victims?

The so called "guidelines" are not commandments written in stone.

I think they kept him as a dustbin to dump all their inadequacies.
I don't believe Tustin's other children had a warm, nurturing experience either. It's not possible.

Sky news are reporting Arthurs vigil near the house, they let baloons off, was lovely, very emotional. Cant stop thinking of the little guy, puting up Christmas decorations, he should be here to enjoy the build up to Christmas

One doesn't exclude the other.
Both money and a "punching bag".
Somebody wrote that a third child doesn't get much money.
But, as they were not married, Arthur was his only child.

I’m mid-40s, just about… . I just can’t believe he will be let out when younger than me. Oodles of time to start a family, have a career, start again etc

It doesn’t matter. It’s “person you live with as if you were married to them” when it comes to benefits.
