@DaveHiggensPA: The Porter Brook - where the body was found - is not much more than a stream at this point https://t.co/URNEtyk51O

Unless the picture is deceiving that looks more like a shallow brook than a deep river. Hard to imagine somebody drowning in a brook so I wonder if her body was left there.

If you're laying face down in it you can drown in very little water

She could have fell through being intoxicated, hit her head which knocked her unconscious & then drowned? Who knows. So many questions.

True but I was imaging a big river that could have swept a live person off, whereas that looks so shallow that you'd need to be seriosuly incapacitated or unconscious to drown in it.

I understand where you're coming from. It does look really shallow. It looks quite rocky under the water as well, it would really hurt & most probably knock you unconscious if you fell & hit your head!

The wall is a lot lower on the other side of the road. I can't believe she got so lost, I just don't get it. Even though she hadn't been at Uni long she is from Sheffield isn't she? She'd know enough of her way round to not get that badly lost... if this was a genuine accident I think she must have been going to someone else's house/flat in that area, maybe a house party she heard about in the club.

There is quite a bit of student accommodation in that area ( so I've read ) so yes, perhaps going to someone else's house.
Presumably, as Mrazda said, the police have tracked her journey via cctv, otherwise why would they end up searching by a relatively small stream/river - and at that time in the morning ?

If you fell and knocked yourself out, you could die of hypothermia lying in there on such a cold night, even if you landed face up.

Were they searching there, though? Someone may have spotted her and called the police.

Looking at it from that angle it doesn't look like somebody could accidentally fall over the railings but she looked a tiny little thing so if somebody had harmed her they could easily have lifted her over the railings and let her body fall into the water below.

Woah where has it been said that she was behaving "aggressively"???

I must have misunderstood/misread something. My apologies.

A Mugging gone wrong??

Just catching up - sad news :(

I had a feeling she didn't head home, or they would have found her earlier, and water would come into play.
