Do you think we will still be here March 2021 ?
Yes! I think so, 12 years and nothing much still known for sure. Much guess work and speculation eg, where did Claudia go when she was dropped home by jo wed afternoon. Why is that hard to establish ? Picked up by two persons who are known to Claudia, not cctv or others, yet a busy time of day! Was claudias car repaired, did she go to look at another option eg second hand car sales in village or a atm? Was it said the car had been repaired as it had been weeks ,ongoing problems on and off road for months.surely a camera picked up Claudia that afternoon.

I dont know if I mean this to be a question or a comment or information about sniffer dogs, but ill just post it and see what you think.

there was a case in the states about a teenager who was murdered..the case has now been solved...in a coastal city.

someone had seen her getting on a bus, but no one at that point knew where she had left the bus or where she had gone to.

the dogs followed her scent to the beach bus stop but then couldn't follow her scent any further.

it later emerged that at the beach stop she had taken another bus only a few minutes later....so she wouldn't have had time to go into the water...or maybe just dip her toes in.

I assume the sniffer dogs in Claudius case followed her scent from her house.........I personally dont think she was dumped in the river, but, obviously, thats only my opinion

Alledgedly the sniffer dogs traced her scent to the rivers edge and the dog handler then advised the officer in charge that the serach should move downstream. The officer in charge decided not to follow this advice the reason we are told was because he felt they were looking for a missing person. Which makes absolutely no sense at all! if you are looking for a missing or dead person you follow the trail wouldnt you?

@Cortna Sniffer dogs would would not necessarily follow the scent from CL's home the scent could be offered up to the dogs at any given point a few examples the spot on Melrosegate Bridge where the left handed smoker was spotted and the spot on University road where the couple were seen arguing.
Although some claims have been made that sniffer dogs may be abe to trace scent for a number of months the more acceptable time span is of 2 weeks

Yes and if you agree with the dogs then you would have to accept the witnesses were right in putting Claudia there ie starting point .

It’s interesting that’s if I’m not mistaken that the surprise visitor days before seems to have known when she finishes work .But did he not know her car was not available is that why he was at her place like soon after she clicks off ?

As far as Ive been able to ascertain she just said a local garage in Heworth
which is as much as Ive been able to find out from Cold Case ...
Having first been at a local garage then it then went to another garage for the works to be done this was actioned by P.Lawrence..
Why not say which local garage whats the mystery

popejohn...do we know for sure that the dogs were given Claudius scent at the place where witnesses said they saw her...

assuming that the information is correct about claudia nipping out that afternoon, the only innocent excuse I can think of for no one coming forward is that she went to call on someone who wasn't in.

otherwise, id. have thought someone would remember her after all the publicity

It is possible Claudia went somewhere in that 15 minutes where there was no one there.
It’s also possible she changed her mind on the way there .

No I don’t think it was ever stated where the dogs started their search .

One of the reasons why the CPS decided not to prosecute in 2015/16 might have been to avoid a fiasco like that of Geoffrey Leeming’s unsolved murder 20 years earlier in Haxby, north York.

A 63-year old ex-military man was brutally murdered one October evening in 1996, whilst he was pottering in the garage and his wife was watching Coronation Street in the house. Wife, daughter, son and a business associate were all charged with murder and went to trial but the case was thrown out of court due to lack of hard evidence (despite having a body, crime scene and murder weapon - a knife). However, there was plenty of evidence of fraud, for which the family faced charges afterwards.

Anyway, my point is that it was a good job nobody went to trial for CL’s murder a few years ago, if evidence was only circumstantial. All sorts of other doggy dealings would have come to the surface, but not enough to get justice for CL’s family IMO. Geoffrey Leeming’s brother is still waiting for the case to be reopened and it’s interesting that NYP won’t give him access to any of the evidence that was gathered at the time Unsolved murder: Victim's brother makes new appeal, 20 years on

Could those dodgy dealings have possibly included the involvment of the policeman boyfriend?

I was thinking more of other unlawful activities that the perp(s) and their associates might be involved in.
