Think it refers to when the article was originally written in Dec 2011. A police announcement was made then but nothing significant was released about it.

It's possible the lead might have related to Christopher Halliwell who had been snared earlier that year...?? Just a guess.

She dug herself a hole really.. She knew all these people and she knew what they were doing.

She had known similar types previous to moving to Heworth.

She had a friendship group at the NH some of who were discribed as rogues

She knew 2 guys who lived in Cyrus and travelled to th UK regularly one had worked previously at the local pub and the other knew her from holidaying there. One of which was in the UK at the time of her disappearance.

She knew people in Manchester and spent time there with them and vice versa..

She had and ex policeman boyfriend .. several of her friends confirmed this.

Its all very well when you can compartmentalise your life keeping these people at a relatively safe distance apart relationship/conversation wise. But by the very nature of the people and the activities of these types when deals or activities collide and loyalities and codes are questioned the consequences are considerable and they ultimately end in violence and sometimes death.

Its only my opinion but I think when the activities and loyalities within these groups activites came into question the group looked at who had connections with everyone in that group (the truth always outs) and CL was being watched/followed because of this.

I think that on the evening of the 18th on Heworth Road these groups and their activities came together. A decision and plan had already been made regarding CL by then. I think she was extracted from the house that night, and people were in and out of her front door that evening.

No ones mentioned a fight in the street on Heworth road that night but in my opinion there was..

I also believe there was a scuffle/struggle earlier that evening (not involving CL)
in the turning into the Limes ..things were already begining to kick off .

I think this was planned and well organised

No wonder these groups are so feared locally

I Was just reading this article, surprised as the comments from the students state that permission was asked and only those already away for half term could not. Makes me wonder if the uni was concerned of other discoveries eg drugs, and would look bad in reports Police search of student accommodation 'unacceptable'

yes, kir...I agree with you about all the different groups etc...claudia was probably just breezing along, thinking she was helping out all her different friends....look at that cctv...not a care in the world

the same goes for the Heworth group but with a different angle....get yourselves involved in drug dealing with the big boys and one day you might get involved in a murder that you never wanted to take place.

you seem to think claudia was forcibly taken from her home and there was a struggle...why....not being funny..I just wondered if you'd seen something id missed

The struggle I referred to previously was one that happened on the cctv of the alleyman returning from the direction of the Limes.

To know the exact details of how CL was extracted from the house we need to find out who was in the house that evening. I suspect it was a male and they did share some kind of light evening meal looking at the the kitchenware perhaps something like pizza with a cider or beer and desert (one large plate 2 pint glasses 2 bowls 2 forks 2 kitchen knives) at some stage I think they had another visitor (a female) who had a drink (the wine glass).
So was the third visitor expected, was it business (drug related) over a drink
Now you can understand why the need to know who the male in the house was.
The plan could always have been to get them to leave the house all together for a specific reason, and the activity/numerous people outside would not have been thought unusual if a multi drop was in play.
Once outside the house the purpose of the plan would have been effected at speed with the vehicles that were used would obviously leave the area.
I havent discounted that CL & friend may have been threatened in the house and left under constraint.

@cortina if you are refferring to the struggle I mentioned in my earlier post this was something that happened earlier in evening 7.15pm (the alleyman clip) I dont see this as CL my thoughts are that it was someone who they needed out of the way that night.

id only go as far as the police do, in saying I believe that one or more of her friends could give the police essential information, but they are not doing so.

at the very least they have a huge cloud over their heads and I dont believe any of them really wanted her dead after the event. but, from this distance, its impossible to tell if and how far they were involved and what they thought about it at the time

How I look at it is thats where their investigation ended and its where ours started.
