The man in the video could be an opportunistic burglar scoping out the student accomodation at the Limes?
I was a student at the college - although I never lived at the Limes - break ins were extremely common .

I think the Police might have mentioned activity on her account and said we know she visited the cash machine at 3pm. I also think it's possible she didn't have funds as her mother/father offered her the money for a taxi to work. But it's just my opinion. IF she went to call on somebody and they were out maybe she went again after the call to her mother.
If that's true about not having funds then that could explain why her purse/bank card was left at home

About the dye - it looks like blonde dye but Claudia's hair was much darker at the time of her disappearence and it seemed she had a preference for darker hair at that time.

From the CCTV of her on the 18th, Claudia's hair certainly looked brown, but there may have been dark blonde highlights in her hair ?

I recall her father saying very early on that it wasn't unusual for her to leave her purse/cards at home when she went to work as it was more practical in her job. If she wore jeans, she would only need to stuff notes in her pocket so this could fit with going out the night before or going to work next day, I suppose.

IIRC Claudia's mum commented on the fact that the police released photos of her with blond hair as she remembers her hair as being much darker. The police said that the blond picture released at the time of her disappearance was done after consultation with close friends and local hair salon. ''Claudia was last sighted at around 3.05pm on Wednesday 18 March at the junction of Heworth Road and East Parade walking back towards her home on Heworth Road.''

So, if Claudia was dropped off at home at 2.50pm and was sighted on the corner of E.Parade and Heworth Road at 3.05pm without her bag (assuming she must have dropped that in home) how far can you get in 15mins?
The letter posting was before she got her lift I believe, correct me if I'm wrong.

I wonder, there is, or was (its now closed down) a NatWest in East Parade. I'm trying to think back, it was there in 2009, but towards the end they started restricting opening hours, I'm pretty sure it closed at 2PM. Could she have walked round to draw some money out but got there to find it closed so turned back and walked home? The bank never had an outside ATM/cash machine. There is no cash machine at the shops at the junction of Heworth Rd/East Parade unless it is inside Costcutter, not been in there myself for years. Londons Newsagent had a cash machine inside but that is a stretch to walk there and back in 15 mins as it's all the way up on the corner of Mill Lane.

Either the bank or someones house is my guess

Either bank closed or cash machine out of order so no transaction is recorded. I think Costcutter has an inside machine but cctv would pick that up whereas if she had stayed on the opposite side of the road, I don't think the cctv range reached that far.

I personally don't think it was cash, if any machines were out of order I know the Co Op does 'cash back' maybe Costcutters do too, idk.

There is a Co-op a little further up East Parade from the Bank, but yeah anywhere like that would have inside CCTV, Co-op or Costcutters, CCTV and/or transaction receipts, and afaik they found neither.

So perhaps a very brief visit to an unknown associate - one who was not a habitual texter or possibly didn't own a mobile...imo

Or she may have popped to the shop for a small item, something she could put in her pocket ?

Thinking about it that is probably unlikely as there would have been a witness (shop worker) or CCTV.

I think we have to assume that the police have well and truly covered that ground so I guess that rules out cash machine, shops etc.

The 2 sightings from early in the morning "the left handed smoker" at approx 5.35am and the "couple arguing" near the university, as far as I am aware nobody has ever come forward to say that it was themselves. There is a strong possibility that one or both of these sightings were Claudia. The 5.35 sighting would be the perfect time for her to be in that place if she was walking to work for a 6oc start, also the description of the woman would fit Claudia's description. Would a local know if there was anywhere close by to the alleged 5.35 sighting (Melrosegate bridge) for a car to be parked ?

Just walked down that road by the substation on google earth and see that there are loads of places where a car can be parked around there, especially at that time in the morning, of course it would have to of been someone she knew if that was Claudia and then she got in a car with someone.
