I think, her parents would have known, where the car was at. They knew about the repair of her car and one of them (forgot, who) even would have paid for a taxi, if she had wanted, because of her long walk at dawn to the Uni. (I remember so ...)
@FromGermany Yes. Her mum stated that she had previously offered to pay for a taxi for her

Sorry not really anwered your question there...the make of the car seen on Melrosegate was not revealed but it can be seen to have a boot, whilst the Megane has a coupe or hatch style tailgate.
@Yozzer This was the car that had been seen on CCTV previous week. I mentioned this as car seen only on a Wednesday and possibly someone who only worked that day or was in area that day. It was also coming away from UNI at 05:32 in morning of 19th.

Were they looking for Claudia walking to work? Was it Boyfriend she stayed out with previous night all night??

  • #983
@Yozzer Yes so the article speaks about the "New" boyfriend she spent the night with in 17/18th she mentioned to a colleague at work-apparently the colleague failed to mention this event to police until a year letter ?? (She was out until 4 am that morning)

The other relationship with a man who was already with partner is more likely to be one of the POIs
Yes but I don't recall this information being in the public domain ever - that she was in a ltr with a man, who was also in a ltr, at the time of her disappearance. It has been suggested on WS frequently that a jealous lover (or his partner/wife) may be involved in her demise...and that she was involved with many married men. This article would suggest there was one particular person who they were aware of in 2010, yet it took 5 more years before they could arrest him. How frustrating for NYP. And the wait goes on...

@Yozzer And was the other female one of her best friends ?

Finally
Police rapid response as soon as reported?

"Adopted girlfriend for operational reasons of Under cover cop because she is part of Nags group on watch"

"Undercover cop also missing-Police wouldn't announce this"

Detective Chief Inspector Lucy Pope was in charge of the investigation when Claudia went missing. Lucy and Claudia attended school together and knew each other well. Lucy realised that the investigation should start as soon as possible as it was out of character for Claudia to vanish into thin air.

@Pinkizzy And your point is?

Or police detective who already had access to inside the property.

Could be totally uninvolved in her disappearance but presumably police officers/detectives have their prints on file for ref. how easy is it to assign yourself to a case/call as an officer/detective? surely a trail of command to trace back through......

Alleyman: if he retrieved a spare key at 7.15 was the intention to prevent Claudia from being able to get back into her house, by him or someone else sneaking her housekeys from her bag/pocket wherever she went? Did she then call someone nearby? Then ambushed wherever she went, Nag's even? Was the pocket rummaging a signal to someone, "I can't find them!"
Or in the morning or even early am, was Claudia lured to her back garden/as far as the alley then grabbed? Narrows possibilities somewhat. This is why it's important to grasp exact layout of alleyway, how far the path goes/went in 09 and how: jumpable fence/gate/neither? We shouldn't rule out other neighbouring houses too obvs. Was it inaccessible enough to warrant leaving a spare key to her house outside her backgarden in the pathed alleyway area rather than beneath a plantpot/similar near the backdoor? Risky. She could have left one at the Nag's even, but more likely a friend's house.

So does that suggest if he is retrieving a key and is involved in Claudia's disappearance it is more likely a spare for nearby shed/garage as ML said, which belongs to whom? Did Jen still have a copy of the house key having lived w Claudia? Did she live across the road in March 2009? Pretty sure she didn't when I worked at the Nags.

Apologies if any/all this has already been said.

There's no undercover cop
@Pinkizzy Granted I have no proof but neither do you to the contrary and so we will differ on this matter unless you can provide evidence to convince me otherwise? I am open to conversion here.
It may not have been a cop but could have been from another area of security services and if so even police would not be aware of this?

@Spy Versus Spy Thats what I thought. So that would suggest that there was activity at 7:00 pm on 18th and 5:07 on Morning of 19th.
Given if CL was abducted / Murdered then the window of opportunity in the eyes of Perps would end any time after 06:00 on 19th-The time that CL would be deemed late for work. As it transpired, the window was much wider because the missing report didn't come until 14:00 on Next Day. The perps would want to dispose of anything as soon as they could by 06:00. The Mobile being turned off much later (12:10-Explicit Network disconnection) (Explicit meaning Turned off or SIM removed) An Implicit network disconnection would indicate battery drain or damaged phone.
This is a bit of a puzzle unless they couldn't initially find it-Were hunting for it??? Did it fall from her when she was moved and were they seeking this??
perhap it was in the rucksack and they went back for it?

does anyone know if there are any media interviews from the neighbours?
Tommy Ward ...lived next to/near the Nag's Head on the other side:
Re Search of PR's house in April 2015 -
A resident living near one of the houses said police arrived at around 7am yesterday.
Tommy Ward, 81, said: 'It started off with one police car then a few more came.
'It was just around about 7am when everything started up.
'I was outside my house watching the world go by at the time.
'I haven't seen anyone arrested but a few weeks ago some sniffer dogs were there in the same house. We've had dogs a few times now. I don't know the person who lives there.'

and Tommy again with a revealing quote:March 2015
Eighty-one year old Thomas Ward knew Claudia by sight. “I know she knocked about with some girls – was it Thursday night they had drinks at the pub?”
Mr Ward said he had once witnessed someone bundle Claudia into their car, seemingly by force – and had reported what he had seen to police
.

Near neighbour in one of the terraces-next door but one towards the NH?:2009
Blake Beresforde, 21, admits knowing 35-year-old Claudia but says he was not one of her lovers.
“I haven’t really known her on a friend-to-friend basis, I have just known her as a neighbour and I am being treated like I am the one who’s done it,” said Mr Beresforde.
Claudia vanished almost four months ago. On Friday police battered down Mr Beresforde’s front door and ransacked his terraced house in York. The search took several hours and sniffer dogs were used.
He says it was not the first time police have searched the property but insists Claudia, who worked in the kitchens at York University, had never been inside his house.

Major's post:
For more than one reason, but the only reason I have safely assumed is because 19th was a day that she wasn't scheduled to work but was working due to a request by work.
She may have not had time to schedule a lift?

This rings a bell (about the day off thing) but do you have a link about this? I recall her mother and father saying she was due to have an early night on 18th because she was due to work a series of early shifts. It's quite possible she was using work as an excuse not to stay on the phone to mum for too long I suppose, without having to reveal other plans.

Good point

@moonsafari Yes, Dark Alley Man /Woman seen 19:15. The Reditt poster who demonstrated that Alley man didn't stop in his tracks as soon as he saw Light Man but was likely keeping a distance so as not to be linked.

Did Dark Alley man go to get keys for himself and Light man?
Was there a key handover in Nags?
Would holding spare key prevent others from entering and disturbing what may happen?

CL spoke to parents at 20:10. Last she was heard of alive.

Someone sends an outgoing text from CL phone at 20:23 to Jen King-Was it Claudia or Perp?

In message Jen advises that CL describes how busy she will be for next few weeks due to 12 early shifts and "wont have much of a social life".

Both men were seen 1 hour before CL speaks to parents and parents call would be completed before text to Jen sent.
Dark man appears on Heworth Place at 19:15 and is in sight for 4 seconds
He goes out of sight for 26 seconds

Whatever 2 men were doing, they did 1 hour before ending call with parents.

How would they know she was talking to her parents and know when to wait until?
What and where were they all of that time-In Nags until closure or perhaps a bit earlier?

Following morning Dark Alley Man returns from Heworth Road and is seen on CCTV at 5:07.07
after 4 seconds he disappears out of sight at 5:07.11

Whilst he is out of sight Light man is seen on other side of Heworth road, walking at a much faster pace-he is in view between 5:07.21 and 5:07.25 (24 seconds) 2 seconds less than the night before.

He re appears at 5:08.01-Exactly 50 seconds later

@Pinkizzy Looking close up at this image it could be a woman with shorter / dark / tied back hair
Also white Jacket is a size or two too big and pants are baggy. Suggesting woman in mans clothes ?
Have you noticed a man/woman in a white jumper and carrying a white bag on the other side of the road?
