Strange. On NYPs website there is a series of cctv clips of CLs journey across the university campus on her way home on 18 March. When I clicked on this one, it appears to have been removed? Wonder why?

It looks Brown in colour and it looks like the envelope she is holding is of a decent size?

Claudia returned at 3pm, that leaves plenty of time to dye and dry. She didn't use her phone for a few hours because she was busy with her hair.

We have info on text traffic starting up at 18:08 so unless other activity before she had 3 hours to dye her hair and other stuff:

The first text instigated by Claudia to Steve Sammons (Cyprus) was on March 18 at 18:08 pm and it said:”How ru nug? (short for nugget) making the most of your spare time x

She started the text traffic with steve that ended as we know with the unanswered one from him to her at 21:12.

Big question?

Was this 21:12 Cyprus or UK time as the previous last text between them was at 18:42 from claudia to Steve where she complained about the cost of flights to Cyprus.

Seems to be a big gap between 18:42 and 21:12

My view is that the text she never answered came in at 19:12 and not 21:12.

The reason she never replied was because she was also texting her friend :

Around the same time as Steve was texting with Claudia, Claudia's friend Liz was also texting as follows:


Liz, a pharmacy technician at Boots, in Malton, said she felt terrible that she had not done more to persuade Claudia to get a taxi.


She said: “She texted me (Again suggesting that Claudia was the text instigator) on the night she went missing. We sent about three or four messages and the last one was at about 7pm.


“It was general chit-chat. She said she was getting up early to walk to work the next morning and I replied saying she shouldn’t be walking to work at that time.

THIS SUGGESTS THAT CLAUDIA DID NOT HAVE A LIFT THE NEXT MORNING OR IF SHE DIS SHE WASNT LETTING ON TO LIZ??

“But she said she wasn’t worried and it was good exercise.

“Now I feel terrible because I wish I’d rung her and persuaded her not to walk, to get a taxi.”

@Yozzer i recall viewing this same CCTV clip only 2 weeks ago and on it she is walking up to the post box and she is on the phone at the time having a conversation. She is seen to post something.
Strange as you say that it has been removed.
I wonder if any other press reports have the CCTV link that we can see?

This is from my timeline for the exact period you mention that I took from when I viewed the CCTV:

It was a walk to the post office of 0.8 miles from work and would take 17 minutes and so she would arrive to post letter at approx 14.48.


If her Mother was accurate with her time of conversation, Claudia was probably talking to someone else as seen when posting the letter-who?

CL was spotted walking home and given a lift by a female work colleague, her name Jo.

This would have to be after posting the letter and by car the time to cover the remaining distance of 0.9 miles would be Approx. 3-4 minutes.

Jo dropped her off outside her home, again at Approx 14:51 (Based upon above time and distance assumptions).

I reckon that Claudia was talking to Jo about a lift when she was posting a letter

Thank you - good spot. For what it's worth, having looked at all the cctv clips on NYP of her journey out of the uni grounds, plus this one, I think she has blond highlights (or streaks as they used to be called). Didn't the police query whether she might have dyed a friend's hair?

She may have gone to the friend's house after dying her hair

I find this CCTV very interesting
It is the 3rd CCTV down and labelled as follows:

CL14 Biology 1

No need to look at the first 2
It shows Claudia walking through UNI grounds home

But what is most telling here is that (and it has never been mentioned before)

Is that there is a circle ️ on the CCTV, clearly placed by police. The circle is not on Claudia ?????

It shows someone following behind her. Could be quite innocent but worth a look?

Hair straighteners missing

Surely this person would be a female. The males in CLs world don't seem the type of blokes who would go for a blond makeover or even highlights. That leads me back to females.

After the Bio 1 film, the next cctv in the Bio sequence (2) shows her walking past the same building but it is a rear shot of her with the building to her right. The woman walking towards the camera is not involved hence why they circled C for clarification.

Depends on whether she used her straighteners....and if she used a hairdryer or dried her hair naturally.

If you look at the earlier pics of her leaving R Kirk cafe, she is wearing jeans, a white t shirt and is carrying a jacket in her right hand with the backpack over her left shoulder. After the Bio 1 film, the next cctv in the Bio sequence (2) shows her walking past the same building but it is a rear shot of her with the building to her right. The woman walking towards the camera is not involved hence why they circled C for clarification.

@Yozzer I see what you are saying here but the person walking straight towards the camera is Claudia
The person walking right to left and circled is not
Look again I have uploaded photo again with a black arrow drawn above Claudia

@Yozzer yes you are correct it's not a van but a white hatchback. It's the window reflection that gave me the impression it was .

Not that I am terribly interested at analysing pictures and stills of Cl but here is one question:did the police arrange the hair dye etc on her toilet seat or is that a photo of what they actually found ?

@Popejohn3 We have discussed this and some of the female Sleuths have stated that this is the likely way that someone would dye their hair so that they had access to the sink, the toilet seat acting as a table.

This speaks volumes as you would think that she would move them after dying so that if she needed to go to the loo later she could??

Could have been Claudia?
Could have been someone else?
She didn't have 2 toilets, small terraced cottage and layout had been seen.

This is why this evidence appears to be material to NYP as they are saying by showing the photos that she did not clean up after dying her hair and why?
