<modsnip> The only thing that could make this more heartbreaking is if the baby died in the two days.

Rest in peace little mite. I am sorry we didn't find you in time. I hope we learn your name.

Sleep well, little one. Your life was short, unnecessarily hard, and at the end, cold and lonely. So many folks around the world opened their hearts to you, and would have opened their arms or homes had they only the chance to do so.

The folks from the Met and Sussex are going to do their best for you. The medical examiner is going to treat you gently to help you give the answers you cannot speak.

No more pain and suffering now, no more tears. What a life you could have lived if you'd had the chance, we'll never know.

Disgusted with those two.
Poor baby didn't stand a chance.

I can't even bear to look at their faces. I hope they throw away the key.

  • #884
And people were actively urging them to run and stay hidden...this is exactly why they were a high risk. I'm so bloody angry

  • #885
A very sad outcome. Rip little one.

Even if the poor baby was no longer alive at the time of their arrest, it's utterly disgraceful they chose to leave it in the woods like that. Rest in peace little baby, you deserved so much better.

What terrible news. Heartbreaking.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I believe facts and circumstances speak for themselves. I don’t think going on the run was for any good or well-meant reason, and I personally don’t believe for a second they ever loved that child.

We don't know how the baby died yet, could have been unavoidable like sudden infant death. But if it was something that could have been avoided by proper medical attention or caused by neglect/harm then they deserve everything they get IMO

I'm glad it (feels wrong saying "it") has been found at the very least. It deserved better than many things, but at least not being found won't be one of them. I hope its suffering was as minimal as possible and that these 2 rot.
Yes so am I! I am so thankful for the man who followed them and called the police. Imagine if he hadn't then these two may have gotten away with this and the poor baby wouldn't of been put to peace. Now the baby can get justice

Lucy, clarifying, is your belief that this baby coincidentally died of sudden infant death in the midst of this?

They still deserve severe punishment even if it had been sudden infant death. They subjected that poor baby to a start in life that was horrific. Cold, unsettled, dirty, chaotic and stressful. All because they felt they were the best option for this baby. They were selfish, arrogant and cruel.

I have a powerful urge to go shout at some people on Facebook. There were so many people defending them and blaming the police even as the search for their baby went into its second night.

I mean I won't, because it would be a waste of breath and braincells, but I want to.

Even if it was SIDS sleeping in a tent with freezing cold weather not seeking medical attention is all neglect and is likely to of contributed to it

I think Lucy is saying we shouldn't count our chickens until the autopsy is completed and made public.

Ch Supt James Collis ends by saying he sends his "heartfelt condolences" following the outcome of the search.

He extends his thanks to "those who have volunteered to assist with the searches, and the wider community as we all come to terms with this tragedy".

Felt funny reading that as normally "heartfelt condolences" would go to the parents. But not in this case.

It's a possibility that has to be considered until post mortem results are shared IMO. However, I lean more towards the cold or malnutrition being the cause moo

I just can't fathom, regardless of cause of death, of leaving my newborn infant in a cold empty woods. As a mum that's just inconceivable to me.

But regardless they still neglected the baby and were clearly a significant risk to the poor baby

I think this case will cause a lot of public anger. Hopefully it night serve as a catalyst against the SS are always evil rhetoric.

I think most of us would agree that if the baby had received medical care and attention from Day 1 like all other babies in this country, and had different parents, we would not be talking about the remains of a baby right now. I'd like to say so much but better not to.
