I'm not saying they weren't. There's still a whole multiplicity of potential causes of death for a very young infant that could be in play here.

They still deserve severe punishment even if it had been sudden infant death. They subjected that poor baby to a start in life that was horrific. Cold, unsettled, dirty, chaotic and stressful. All because they felt they were the best option for this baby. They were selfish, arrogant and cruel.

Even if it was SIDS sleeping in a tent with freezing cold weather not seeking medical attention is all neglect and is likely to of contributed to it

There is no known cause of SIDS. That baby could have still died in the warmest, safest and loving home....if it was SIDS of course.

I was absolutely on the side of this woman being poor and abused and controlled by her rotten partner who had form (having been there, with kids involved, I know how horribly hard it can feel. "Just leave" isn't as easy as everyone preaches to you when you are a victim of spousal control/abuse), right up until they arrested them with no child and she refused to tell the police where the baby was.

I utterly echo your words... my husband is sitting here extremely upset with this outcome as am I... that poor little soul. I hope that they feel the full force of the law now and are never ever near another child again. May that child's passage back to those that came before be safe and unfettered. Devastating.

I think this case will cause a lot of public anger. Hopefully it night serve as a catalyst against the SS are always evil rhetoric.

All the cases I personally know where there is outrage directed towards SS is when they are not acting fast enough or taking proper care to protect children. I personally would not condemn them for doing their job.

Yes I agree until something like this and the rhetoric is very strongly (typically) "leave them be" and to go after the people who actually need them. It's a big contrast.

Can I just shift the focus ever so slightly here? I thought the media statements were dignified, respectful, and delivered with the calm sadness that I really felt conveyed the mood of the police who have been searching so hard for this child. I'm glad they didn't take questions, although we all have more questions than answers right now. It gave me the information I had been expecting, and though it was upsetting, it felt like whoever wrote the statements understood the grief the public would feel at hearing it without turning it into a media circus.

I think it's safe to say, the sad predicament of this baby is as a DIRECT result of its parents actions.

I'm going to say this and yes I will risk a ban.... when you take a lover your loyalty is to him... but when you bear children your loyalty turns and remains to them and them only above ALL others. They are of you and from you. A Bear will kill without conscience to save her cubs... and that is why she is a good Mother, her cubs are all and forever.

Really hope it comes out that the baby has been dead for longer than just the time if their arrest. I'm thinking it just be the case as the 2 of them went to the shops or whatever it was they were doing together, I don't think they'd have left a baby of a few weeks old on it's own.

If it turns out the baby had only just died before or worse still it died after their arrest then they should get everything possible thrown at them.

As a normal rational human, I can't understand why they wouldn't give the location if the child, either alive or deceased. Shows that social services were absolutely right to be concerned.

Wouldn’t there also be an improper disposal (I’m sorry for the awful words to describe it) charge also? Or preventing the lawful burial/cremation?
