Marcus Monzo is on trial accused of murdering Daniel Anjorin 14, in Hainault last year.

During a police interview, Mr Monzo claimed his personality had switched and he compared the events to the movie The Hunger Games.

He also told police that he had "many personalities" and that one of them was a "professional assassin", the prosecution said.

When police searched his home, they found a cat he had killed and skinned, as well as a quantity of cannabis, jurors were told.

Mr Little said Mr Monzo's behaviour was triggered "by self-induced intoxication in the form of drugs" which led to a psychotic disorder.

He added the defence's case was that the defendant was "most likely suffering from a pre-existing condition which created a vulnerability to experiencing psychotic episodes with schizophrenia-like symptoms, prompted by his use of cannabis".

Drug-induced psychosis is not a recognised medical condition and cannot alone establish diminished responsibility, Mr Little said, adding that psychiatrists will discuss whether Mr Monzo met the threshold for a schizotypal disorder diagnosis.

Oh my god this man was INSANE. Obviously we knew that anyway considering the attacks he carried out, but wow... "skinning" and "deboning" his own cat. Of course it was during a supposed schizophrenic episode, but since he ordered the sword weeks before, how premeditated actually was it?

R.I.P. Daniel, poor little lad, my heart breaks for him.

I wish the injured peace and healing.

Although this person will be sentenced for the terrible things he did to these people, I can find no mention of him being sentenced for what he did to his cat; his life matters too. R.I.P. little guy.

I expect no less than a whole life order for this person. I will be watching closely today.

He won't be getting out IMO. He'll be 75 when 38 years is up and I can't see them ever letting him out.

The mental health issues are likely self-induced from drug abuse IMO, and this should be a whole life sentence.

I am not confident that in 38 years’ time we will have a parole board that would keep this guy in, they are usually minded to recommend release once the minimum term is served, as their decisions tend to show.
