Lol me too Moll.

Many thanks Legally for the link and Supernovae for the on line version ( which I didnt see until I had worked hard on enlarging the paper one ! ).

I am surprised the media are getting away with this, but no doubt they have checked before they printed ( ha ha, did I really just type that ).
The trial didnt get huge coverage ( not compared with some we have followed ) so perhaps this article wont have the impact it might have had for a different person.

So which one of them did want him? (None of them I hope.)

An Army sergeant accused of trying to murder his wife by tampering with her parachute has been denied permission to return to South Africa for Christmas.

Judge Cutler said: "I have concluded that I will not alter the bail conditions and they will remain as they are."

He added that
a date for the retrial had been set for 11 April 2018.

Ms Marsh said that if he had failed to return from the trip, the father of six would be treated as absent without leave (Awol) by the Army and added: "Mr Cilliers would lose everything, he would lose his career in the Army, his pay would stop, he would receive no money if he were not to return to this country, he would lose contact with his children."

Yes indeed !

I wonder how much contact he actually has with his children - at least the youngest two. One of the restrictions against him is not to make contact with or go near his wife - so unless they have a helpful go between, I doubt he is spending much time with them.

It doesn't look like they've moved the retrial. Maybe applying for a change of bail conditions again, so he can go to South Africa?

Not sure why this isn't at Winchester though.
An Army sergeant accused of trying to kill his wife by tampering with her parachute appeared at the Old Bailey today (mon). Emile Cilliers, 37, faces a retrial in April for twice attempting to murder Victoria Cilliers, 40. Cilliers is said to have sabotaged his wife’s parachute before it failed to deploy when she made the jump in Wiltshire in 2015. Mrs Cilliers, an experienced army physiotherapist and parachute instructor, suffered near-fatal injuries after the 4,000ft dive on the…

Just a pre-trial hearing. I'm assuming the retrial will be at the Old Bailey then.

The a father-of-six, attended the Old Bailey today dressed in a smart black suit for his brief pre-trial review hearing in front of Mr Justice Sweeney.

Cilliers, of the Aldershot Barracks, denies two counts of attempted murder and one count of criminal damage as to recklessly endanger life.

Interesting.

Perhaps they are going for the Old Bailey this time in the hope of getting a verdict through ?

Do you think it could just be because that is the location of Justice Sweeney for some other trial he is involved in at the moment?

Yeah, that seems a possibility.

I had a look at Winchester Crown Court listings on the Courtserve site, as there was nothing at all on their own site for today, and as far as I can see the Cilliers case is not on. I also looked at the Old Bailey in case it had been switched, but nothing there either.

EDIT I'm thinking it must be at the Old Bailey as all his pre-trial appearances have been there. I've forgotten why I thought it would be at Winchester again...oh, it was that Mail article.

Still nothing in the Winchester Crown Court listings. Courtserve has Mr Justice Sweeney in Court 2.
