I know it, too. It’s awful.
I guess her family experienced this sudden switch when she first went missing and up until that moment, things had possibly been normal for them. And then things are never the same again.

I have been following this since she was reported missing. A very sad but inevitable outcome. She was a year older than me and life can be very hard. R.I.P. Gaynor. My thoughts are with her family and friends.

Police say no evidence of third party involvement after body of a woman found

A post-mortem examination will be carried out into the body found during the police search for the missing Gaynor Lord, Norfolk Police have said.

Chief superintendent Dave Buckley said:

I am keen to say that this remains a missing person inquiry at this stage.
I’m also satisfied at the moment, based on the evidence we have, that Gaynor did not meet anybody on the way to the park and we now have a better understanding of her movements through the city centre.
Whilst this is not the outcome we wished for, our search is always predominantly focused on the river and the park.
We now need to conduct a post-mortem examination to establish means of death but I would reiterate at this stage that there is no evidence of third party involvement.
Nothing in our enquiries has changed this position. I would like to thank the media and the public for their continued support during this difficult and challenging time.

Thank you for sharing. It looks like she didn't meet anyone on her way through the city, either.

It's 16:05 in the UK more or less exactly a week since the last sighting. Sunset time today is actually the same as it was last friday and there is a very picturesque red sunset right now. Not sure if there was in Norwich last friday but I wonder if catching the sunset was part of GL's plan?

Very sad news. I don't want to speculate any further because I feel we will probably never find out what truely happened that day but I send my deepest condolences and sympathy to Gaynors Family. RIP.

Tragic and sad ending, but at least there are some answers now.
It’s those she left behind who will suffer throughout the holidays.

I don’t know if she regularly practised yoga but I do know that wild swimming and yoga are pretty popular. Many retreats offer both. It would explain her removing all her personal belongings in case of loss when swimming.
Very sad outcome. RIP

Seems very odd. I wonder if there were any drugs/alcohol on board.

Seems a strange thing to do in the failing light outside on a winter's day straight from work, IMO. It was out of character, according to her family. Who knows? Just desperately sad for all concerned.

So the theories that she met someone at the Cathedral and it was crucial to the case, or that she was meeting someone at the park, perhaps an online person, have been dismissed.

From today's Telegraph:

There had been speculation that Mrs Lord had been rushing to meet someone, possibly at the cathedral, but staff there said it was understood she had gone to the toilets beneath a popular cafe.

Sincere condolences to her loved-ones.

Maybe she was mentally in such crisis she just ran toward the Church. She needed to cool off at the sink. Then spent a little time there by the Cathedral before moving on to the park. IMO.

RE: Wild swimming, in waterways without a lifeguard, vs a pool. All the articles I see on wild swimming describe warm weather swimming, groups and clubs, swimming with others for safety and being aware of dangerous waters and cold water shock.
I find it impossible to believe that the victim stripped and purposely went swimming in very cold, dangerous moving water by herself, with no preparation, no swimsuit and no towels. And took her coat into the water. I don't consider a victim of suicide as purposely swimming.

Polar plunges are dangerous even when done with with others.
A 39-year-old woman has died after reportedly immersing herself into a river as part of a cold water therapy session.

I’m going more the way that she went there to pray.. to be United with lost love ones etc.

I really hope she’s back in the arms of loved ones now

Until the inquest I will no longer post on this threat - after Chris these cases break my heart - it brings it all rushing back.

Thank you to all, EVERYONE who posted on this thread you honestly are a beautiful group, we all just wanted the best for Gaynor.

It’s like you just read my mind here. I’m a cold water dipper and I can’t reconcile it. It’s so dangerous this time of year but as I’ve said to others maybe that’s just it. She wanted to try and underestimated it. So sad if so.
