Police are searching for a missing Gateshead man who may have travelled to a County Durham reservoir.

Glen Carr, 37, was reported missing by his family on Saturday after he failed to return home from work on Friday afternoon.

It was reported that the father-of-three had left his home in Blaydon in his grey BMW 3 series but enquiries have found he never turned up to work.

An investigation is ongoing to locate him and police believe Glen may have travelled to the area of Cow Green Reservoir in County Durham.

Some of his belongings were found in the Cow Green Reservoir car park on the eastern side of the reservoir on Friday.

That has led to real concerns for his welfare and extensive police searches have taken place at the reservoir in recent days.

A family have made a desperate plea for help in the search for a missing dad as they face Father's Day without him.

Glen Carr, 37, from Blaydon, failed to return home from work earlier this year and his loved ones say "these have been the worst two months of our lives."

An investigation into his disappearance led officers to Cow Green Reservoir in County Durham where Glen’s vehicle was found in the car park.

A number of personal belongings were found on the eastern side of the reservoir and officers believe Glen is likely to have entered the water.

However, his body has not yet been discovered and officers are now appealing for a number of key witnesses to come forward so they can get answers for Glen’s family.

They are particularly keen to locate a father and his young son who had pitched a tent on the reservoir on the day of Glen’s disappearance.

An employee at the reservoir had spoken to the father and son around midday and Glen’s belongings had been found nearby to this area.

Kim Jackson is Glen’s partner of more than 20 years, and the mother to their three children, and she has joined police in asking anyone who was at the reservoir that day to come forward.

Kim, 36, said: "These have been the worst two months of our lives and we have found it really difficult to come to terms with why Glen went missing.

"This Sunday is Father’s Day and Glen was an amazing dad who would do anything for his kids. This weekend will just be another reminder of how much he is missed..."

Detective Chief Inspector Angela Hufton, of Northumbria Police, said officers will continue to investigate all possible leads around Glen’s disappearance.

She said: "These past two months have been very traumatic for Glen’s family and we are committed to carrying out a thorough investigation into the circumstances around Glen’s disappearance.

"Glen was a loving, family man with two young children and they want nothing more than for him to be back home with them.

"Tragically the evidence suggests that Glen has gone into the reservoir and we have carried out significant search activity both in the water, and in the surrounding area, over the past two months.

"It would take many more months for us to be able to search every inch of the water but we are determined to try and get some answers for Glen’s family.

"We know that a father and young son, maybe around three years old, had pitched a tent near to where we found Glen’s belongings and we want to speak to them to see if they may have seen Glen.

"If this is you we would ask you to get in touch immediately. You may not have seen Glen but we still need to speak to you so we can rule this out as an investigative lead.

"Anyone else who was at the reservoir that day, and who may have seen something matching Glen’s description, is asked to contact us as you could help our inquiries."

Glen is around 5ft 10ins, of medium build, tattooed and with shaved brown/black hair.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police online at the Northumbria Police website, or by calling 101, quoting log 144 24/04/21.

Police are keen to speak to a father who camped with his toddler next to a reservoir at about the same time that a man went missing from there.

Glen Carr, 37, from Blaydon, was last seen by his family on 23 April.

The father-of-three's car was found at Cow Green Reservoir in Teesdale but Northumbria Police said they had been unable to find his body.

Sad ending...

POLICE searching for a missing dad-of-three have today revealed they found his body on Father’s Day.

An investigation was launched in April to try and locate Glen Carr when he failed to return to his home in Blaydon after work.

The 37-year-old was reported missing after he was last seen leaving his family home in Blaydon in his grey BMW 3 series on Friday, April 23.

An investigation into his disappearance led officers to Cow Green Reservoir in County Durham where Glen’s vehicle was found nearby.

A number of personal belongings were found on the eastern side of the reservoir and officers believed he had entered the water.

However, despite extensive searches of the water, his body was not discovered and both officers and Glen’s family made heartfelt public appeals for help to locate him.

Now police have revealed that a body was found by a member of the public on Father’s Day and, although formal identification is yet to take place, it is believed to be Glen.

Detective Chief Inspector Angela Hufton, of Northumbria Police, praised the bravery of his family and said they will continue to receive support.

She said: “This has been an incredibly difficult time for Glen’s family and in particular his partner Kim who has had to put on a brave face for their three young children.

“They have been desperate for answers about Glen’s disappearance and this was the news they have been dreading in recent weeks.

“Father’s Day was always going to be difficult for Kim and her children but it will now forever be associated with Glen’s body being discovered.

“We will continue to support them and would ask that their privacy is respected so they can take the time they need to grieve.

“I want to thank everyone who has shared our appeals in recent weeks. We know Kim and her family have appreciated the overwhelming support from the community.”

Police do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be prepared for the coroner in due course.
