I haven't either. I think I only read about it as a possibility here. Did a cursory search but didn't find anything awhile ago.

Is that a crime scene photo of Figg in that article? One eye seems to be less open than the other which is sometimes the case in a deceased person.

It looks to me like a crime scene pic Stan.

Hi Robin:

Thanks for clearing up the Pender matter.

In my view, this year marks the start of the proper 50th anniversary of the crimes with the murder of Gwynneth Rees in 1963 (she was last seen getting into a car on September 29). She's not a canonical victim but I think she's better than a 50-50. Figg in 1959 is less than that in my mind.

Anyway, with Smith and Pender off the tally, that leaves us back with the 8 victims who were first listed.

Gwyneth Rees was found dead 50 years ago this Friday the 8th after going missing on September 29.

All the victims were white females of short stature between the ages of 21 and 30. They were also presumed prostitutes.

These parameters also fit Smith and Rees. I'm not sure if O'Hara was ever definitely proven to be a prostitute. She was reportedly married and living with her husband and children.

By short stature, I mean under 5'3".

Does anyone know anything about a true crime book released in 2013 entitled Exposing Jack the Stripper by Fergus Mason?

  • #32
I neglected to note the 50th anniversary of the murder of Hannah Tailford here. She was found dead near Hammersmith Bridge on February 2 of 1964.

  • #33
And now the 50th anniversary of Irene Lockwood is upon us.

Thursday, the 24th, is the 50th anniversary of the finding of the remains of Helen Bartelemy, the third victim.

I have seen 8 named persons of interest.

1-Kenneth Archibald-Eliminated as the Stripper unless there was more than one killer
2-Michael de Freitas aka Michael X
3-Freddie Mills
4-Harold Jones
5-John Burrows
6-Brian Cushway
7-Tommy Butler
8-Mungo Ireland aka "Big John"

Does anyone have any others besides those 8? I know there are some nebulous and generic ones without a name.

This coming Monday, it will be the 50th anniversary of the finding of Mary Fleming.

  • #39
This coming Tuesday, November 25, is the 50th anniversary of the finding of Margaret McGowan, the serial killer's penultimate victim.

  • #40
This coming Sunday, the 11th, 50 years ago, is the last time Bridie O'Hara, the final victim, was seen alive. Her body was found in mid-February.
