Just bringing this bit of cross by the Defence back up

DC Whalley is now being cross examined by the defence. The router found at the Royston house (previously the wireless router at Broadstairs) was in a box in the study, ready to be seen by anyone, he confirms. He confirms that if the wireless router was used as an extender in a house (to provide further wifi coverage in a large house, for example) the factory settings would need to be reset. That’s the end of DC Whalley’s evidence.

So Defence get DC Whalley to admit that the router was not hidden - although I wouldn't call packed away in a box in the study the same as being out in open view....

Defence also gets him to confirm that a second router can be used as a Wifi extender in a large house.
But the fact that it was in a box, in the study, shows it was not being used for this purpose

Also the point made by someone earlier, that the removal of the router from the house meant the contact he claimed to hope for from Helen if she eventually went to Broadstairs was rendered more difficult, seems pretty compelling. I think that's a weak defence point - they're bound to pick up a few minor ones.
EDIT Already said by ColourPurple, I see!

Sophia Hersh is a jeweller, who knew Helen Bailey because in June 2014 Helen wanted an engagement ring model she had previously created. Julia tells jurors: “We created the original ring from her marriage to John Sinfield and we remodelled this in 2016. “On March 8, 2016 she came to my premises with a man she introduced me to as Ian Stewart. “She said she had met someone new, explained they were engaged, and that she was looking for an engagement ring. “We discussed design ideas for just over an hour. Stewart was there as well but Helen was the one interested in discussing specifics. “Ian Stewart was a little bit detached from the process, not particularly engaged, so I very much discussed things with Helen throughout the visit. “We settled on a design and spoke about prices. Helen loved pink diamonds, which are the rarest of the three colour options we were discussing. “The price for the ring was likely to vary from £11,000 to £14,000.

Helen’s friend, Tracey Stratton said, “She confided in me that she might get married to Ian. He had given her a ring as a token, but it was not an engagement ring".

IS obviously didn’t want to cough up £11,000 to £14,000. He probably would have given her a cigar ring if he thought he could get away with it.

I'm pretty sure that's her previous, Highgate home. There's another photo of her with Boris on her lap and IS, he is sitting on a staircase and Helen is wearing the same black jumper and jeans. She said this photo was taken for her as an extra by an estate agent's photographer when she was selling the house.

The one of Helen in this article showing her in an office is actually taken (by the looks of it) at IS's old house...the dated terracotta decor gives it away. Helen's Highgate home was much more tasteful!

I did think it didn't look like Helen's usual light and airy style.

LOL - I was wondering about that 90's Caribbean colour scheme and thinking - not very HB and not very Highgate.

interestingly she did tell a friend he had given her a "token ring" when he first popped the question!

I do think it's possible that they went easy on the boys... if only on the facts they have already lost their mother, their soon to be step mother was murdered and their father is undoubtedly a murderer. I'd go easy on them myself tbh. I think if the trial was going to come down to their testimonies it might be different but I reckon IS has dug himself a big enough hole....

That's a good point, snoopydog - if they are genuinely thought to be innocent of any participation (mainly in terms of covering up for their father, or at least 'avoiding' directly condemning him) then it would be awful to make them suffer any more than they already have done. BUT. I guess the (valid )implication of some posters could be, however, that if they have helped 'cover up' in any way, then either or both of them potentially could be guilty of perverting the course of justice, or 'accessory after the fact' etc. Of course the main thing here is to see IS convicted, and as you say, the prosecution will likely be satisfied with this and don't need additional damning testimonies from the sons - they are not the ones on trial here; if at any point they (or either one of them) may be considered to be an 'accessory after the fact' I presume they could additionally be tried for this separately. I hope to goodness they are not involved in any way, but it does seem a little strange about certain odd things they 'did not notice'. Hopefully this is just a case of teenage oblivion.

Noted IS enthusiasm for getting the house sale through, getting POA and wills done but when it comes to the wedding it appears it's Helen who is pushing that forward. He had no interest in ever marrying her. I really think poor Helen had been so devastated by her loss she's completely deluded herself with IS. She's projected a whole lovely personality onto him that just isn't there. He's a total lazy waster 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 of a man. Such a shame it came to this.

I don't think she projected it, well not entirely, I think he was more than capable of pretending to be that lovely bloke. His first wife's parents thought the world of him (if I recall correctly).

My friend who chatted with IS quite a lot (Merry Widows member) also thought he was a lovely, gentle guy and is rocked to the core at the evidence.

I know we all wish Helen had seen through him, but I think he was a very skilled manipulator. Probably why he thought he could take on the professionals! Failed bigtime there though!

Web browsing on a computer found on Helen Bailey's desk ended on April 11

DC France is being asked about an Apple Macbook Pro, which was found on Helen Bailey’s desk at the house in Royston. Web browsing activity on this Macbook ceased just before 11am on April 11, he said. “We did an investigation of this machine, nothing found on it appeared to relate to anything later on from that. “There were occasions in the following few hours that indicated something had happened to the machine. “On six occasions that day, the laptop which may have been asleep or in hibernation mode, had been woken (from 2pm to 11pm). “It can be caused by a number of things, the lid being opened, someone brushing against it accidentally. “There was nothing evident to show any direct user interaction, but strongly indicated automatic system activity commonly seen when a computer goes into sleep mode whilst still in power. “It may automatically wake to download emails and system updates before going back to sleep mode. “If someone sends an email for example, the machine registers that and we see what we have here.”

so this indicates Helen was at her desk, not in the kitchen or living area

snipped from CWs post

he was looking forward to being on his own and looking at shops

and spending all his newly gained wealth

Yes - being on his own and looking at shops sums up his life plan after killing Helen. What a miserable, miserly, money-grubbing psychopath!

Ian Stewart's computer examined

DC France is now being asked about another device - an Asus laptop. It had Ian Stewart’s username and email address. “Examination of the files showed a single user account on this laptop, which was identified as Stewart. “The file system indicated it was operated on Windows 10, but had previously been something else and had upgraded on March 11.”

Blank spot in browsing history

“Browsing history on a computer would be found in the cache area. “On this occasion mainly google chrome was being used as the browser. “Google Chrome doesn’t have just one set of folders for browsing history. “Browsing history shows where people have been in the past. It can be, and sometimes is, deleted by a user with a degree of simplicity. “On this Asus laptop the browsing history didn’t appear to be intact at all. “There was no browsing history on this Asus laptop between April 9 and April 15. “There was no indication of any activity on the computer at all between these two dates.”
