So why has he been skiving off on illness benefits for the best part of his adult life?

I wouldn't like to be unfair to IS although he does seem to play on his physical weakness. One would need a job that is not stressful. Stress is known to exacerbate the disease. He would also need to take medication throughout the day. As I explained earlier in the thread the medication takes about an hour to work, one has what I call "artificial strength" for around two hours and then the effect of the medication wears off. I remember during these periods I could not hold a pen and write or use a keyboard. There is every chance he would not be of much use to an employer for parts of the day. It could be that employers do not wish to take on someone with this disability. However, I suspect, like most of us, he used his illness to avoid even trying to work.

As I have said previously if he gets his medication right he will have had two hours to behave "normally".

On another theme, I hate the way that (for commercial reasons, we know) when you get on the Cambridge News site you have to avoid some sliding car or similar advert to click quickly enough to avoid that audio of the ghastly lying IS voice reporting Helen missing, or a court reporter you've heard already (or know what they will say).

Same here about the Cambridge site. although i don't have the same problem with an audio. i just don't think they're always on the ball. over-emphasis of his Mg , later on ( not during the whirlwind courtship) , would enhance his vulnerability aspect - needing to be taken care of financially....



- Jamie's testimony said dad suffered from "tiredness generally " in relation to his Mg.

- Whose testimony was it that IS had been "ill since the age of eight?" can't find that page again. Tsk

- am still curious as to why " TLC is wearing thin". I thought he'd mastered the art of being a patient? ( Yes that's unsympathetic on my part but I view him as a murderer first and as a sickly man second..)

Trimmer: “So this is not the deterioration of the muscles but a condition that affects the control of the muscles?” Dr Pinto: “Yes, but if you rest you can regenerate some of that strength” Trimmer: “Myasthenia gravis has nothing to do with emotion?” Dr Pinto: “That is correct” Trimmer: “It doesn’t affect the brain and emotionally how you may react to things? “It doesn’t affect how you’re telling the truth or not?” Dr Pinto: “That is correct” Dr Pinto confirms that Stewart had severe Myasthenia gravis over the first decade of treatment, then long term treatment thereafter for the condition. There will now be a break until 2pm, when the next witness will be called.

I meant to say when we were discussing about the cleaner supposedly breaking the hare ornament and IS exhorting Helen to sack her that my view is he broke the ornament and blamed the cleaner.

He wouldn't have wanted third parties around interfering or adding unknown variables to his evil plan. Just thought I'd throw it in there whilst we are on a break.

She's still been cleaning the home for him though:

He had an operation on his intestines but he also has a long-standing illness which weakens the muscles around his throat. This can cause breathing difficulties. Generally the illness caused him to be tired at times.”

Dad didn’t work became of his ill health, he spent quite a lot of time making things for around the house.”


Jamie, now 24, said his dad had been ill since he was about seven or eight years old.



I took this to be IS had been ill since Jamie was 7 or 8 - it would tie in with when IS retired

I think they meant IS had been ill since they were 7/8 rather than since IS was 7/8. Though IS being ill as a youngster and getting used to the attention and benefits it might result in wouldn't surprise me either.

I thought that too. It might have been ambiguous but children refer things to their own age rather than going back to their parents' childhood, I think.

Just seen that Alyce has posted that this coincided with his retirement date, so that clinches it.
