Soham murderer Ian Huntley has incited outrage among fellow inmates with his prison attire, leading them to label him a "sick b******".

Huntley received two life sentences for the murders of schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in August 2002, and isn't eligible for parole until at least 2042.

Now aged 51 and confined to HMP Frankland in Durham, sources claim he has taken to wearing a No10 Manchester United-style shirt - a grotesque nod to his ten year old victims Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman and the widely publicised photo of the pair when they went missing.

"He's been seen strutting about in the shirt as if it's funny. It is vile."

Huntley was labelled a "sick b*****" by fellow inmates for donning the football top - and responded with a thumbs-up, according to the newspaper.

Well considering the post a few above about the man u shirt. What's the right words. Striking in the best way possible.

Particularly striking.

Frankland is monster mansion though, the individual responsible is no better and gets no thanks.

"The other prisoner got a metal bar from the waste metal crates and smashed Huntley three times in the head with it. It was a very, very serious injury, having been struck on the skull like that"

"Suspected attacker Russell was charged with the murder of Julie Williams and her son David Williams, as well as the rape and murder of pregnant Nicole McGregor near Leamington Spa in 2022"

Apparently they had a bit of animosity and had been in verbal conflict a few times. With child killer n1 attempting to turn others on Child killer, murderer and rapist Russell.

When you're already on a whole life tariff, what disincentive do you have if you're minded to smack Ian Huntley around the head with an iron bar.

''Durham Constabulary has confirmed there remains no change to Ian Huntley's condition as the convicted child killer enters his sixth day in hospital. The 52-year-old was found in a pool of blood at HMP Frankland last Thursday following multiple blows to the head with a metal pole, leaving him too severely injured to be airlifted to hospital.

Triple murderer Anthony Russell has been named as the main suspect, although police and prison officials are yet to formally confirm this. Following the assault in Frankland Prison's workshop on Thursday, Huntley was transported to Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary and has remained in an induced coma ever since.''

Soham beast Ian Huntley is blind, brain-damaged and will likely die soon after having his head smashed apart in jail attack, report says

Child killer Ian Huntley will likely die after he was beaten with a metal pole in a prison attack - and if he lives he will be blind, sources claim.

The 52-year-old is on life support in critical condition with catastrophic skull injuries after a fellow inmate left him 'ripped apart like a rat', a woman who visited the prison previously told the Daily Mail.

Huntley is not expected to regain consciousness after doctors declared him blind after being hit in the eyes and suffering severe brain trauma.

A source said: 'It is now looking like he will not pull through, barring a miracle. Huntley never recovered from the battering and never stood much of a chance of doing so. His condition has not really improved since day one despite the best efforts of doctors. It looks like it's only a matter of time. It could be days, it could be weeks. It is probably for the best. Few people will shed a tear.'

In such circumstances, I wonder who gets to decide if the life support should be switched off or not? Usually it's the next of kin. Does he have any? Or is it the Prison Service?

If he's 'just' brain damaged, and not brain dead, then he will stay on life support, as the UK law doesn't allow euthanasia (nor have death sentences).

Switching life support off isn't classed as euthanasia in the UK. The doctors can switch life support off if they think there's no hope and let nature take its course. They can take it to court if necessary.

Yes, but the doctors have to apply to the High Court to be able to withdraw treatment for someone with brain damage. That differs from cases where tests shows that a patient is brain dead.

They don't need to go to court if the family/next of kin agrees with them. They have to be acting in the patient's best interests. There are patients having treatment withdrawn due to then dying all over the country...our courts would be even more clogged up if all those cases had to go to court.

Given the circumstances of how Huntley received his injuries (there will need to be a full investigation) and his notoriety, the authorities will probably be advised to get a court order in his particular case rather than just switching his life support off if his mum agrees (his daughter is publicly known to be estranged and they would not reasonably use her decision).

That's not the case. The question of medical futility comes into play here, and that is a matter for the doctors as in the UK they are not legally required to provide treatment which they consider futile or not to be in the interests of the patient. If Huntley is brain damaged to the extent that he cannot regain consciousness they can withdraw treatment. His next of kin may challenge this decision in court but in practice, despite a number of very high profile cases in the past 10 years or so, it's rare for the courts to rule against the views of medical staff.

For anyone interested in medical futility cases, Thaddeus Pope has collected legal depositions on many cases going back 40 years or more.
