Pleading not guilty has really amused us today!
However, on a serious note the upcoming trial seems to be a complete waste of money. I don't envy his defence team!

The force announced they have arrested a 25-year-old woman in connection to assisting Khalife in his escape. Police had previously arrested a 24-year-old man who has also been linked to the incident. Neither of the suspects are members of staff at the prison, police confirmed.

Jurors were told on Friday that Mr Khalife was arrested on 9 September 2023 with a number of items including a mountain bike, a Waitrose bag with a phone, receipts, a diary and about £200 in notes.

The Met Police officer recalled the moments he spotted Mr Khalife and went to arrest him.

"It was quite a fast moving situation," he said.

"I could see Khalife coming towards me on the footpath riding his bike with clothing matching the description.

"I was sure it was Daniel Khalife, I told him he was under arrest.

"I ran down the stairs, I pulled my taser out."

Jurors rejected Khalife's story that he had actually been undertaking a one-man 'double agent' mission after being told his Iranian heritage would stop him getting his dream role in British intelligence.

Even Khalife's own lawyer accepted the 'hapless' operation bore more resemblance to Scooby Doo than James Bond.

Wearing a blue shirt and pale trousers, Khalife calmly replaced his glasses as the verdicts were read out and did not show any emotion. He now faces decades behind bars.

How long do you think he’s looking at? Similar cases for espionage are 10 years. Under our new government he will only serve 40% right?

Attached to whatever sentence he was serving prior to his escape, yes?

I hope that, combined, he's in for life.

He was on remand when he escaped, so that's his full sentence. He won't serve all of it.

He wasn't serving a sentence when he escaped from Wandsworth, he was on remand so in fact the time he spent in Wandsworth will be deducted as credit for time served.
