One of the most difficult tasks our Prison Service faces is trying to keep the paedophiles alive until the end of their sentences. He's not the first paedo to be murdered inside, and he won't be the last.

I agree. It always seemed unlikely that he would survive 29 years in a high security prison as a nonce and walk free at the end of it. Ironically, he would have been segregated from the general prison population on a separate wing with all the other sex offenders from day one so whichever lag did for him would also have been a sex offender. Sooner or later one of them would have got to him.

I hope that the prison officers who were on duty at the time don't have their careers ruined by this.

I have absolutely no sympathy for him. The people who murder other prisoners are usually no better than those they kill, and do it for kudos. I hope they are prosecuted. Jmo

He didn't get a life sentence, so would only have served about 20 years. I expect his co-defendents will be out by now.

Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins has been murdered in jail where he was serving 29 years for child sex offences.

The former frontman was reportedly cut to the throat after prisoners were unlocked from their jail cells this morning.

Both police and emergency services rushed to Wakefield Prison in West Yorkshire, however the sex offender's lost his life.

Two years ago he was taken hostage and stabbed three times over a drugs debt. He had apparently been using his wealth from his music career to buy protection from the gangsters and OCGs in HMP Wakefield. Sounds like he ended up getting on the wrong side of the wrong people.

The BBC are reporting that two men, aged 43 and a 25, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. It looks like one held him down, whilst the other slashed his throat with a knife.

yeah he was in the news quite a bit since being inside, he even tried to groom a woman from inside to have access to her baby. This man really was a younger Jimmy Saville, incredibly depraved. Sounds like he was getting into drug debts etc in there, he always had a drug problem on the outside so it probably continued inside and funnily enough that might be why he was killed, not for being a sick pervert.
Like someone else said above the other two freaks who went down with him might be out by now, one got 14 years the other 17 years but they rarely do the full length. Unlike Watkins nobody probably knew their crimes inside because if they did I'm not sure they would survive
