GUILTY UK - Laureline Garcia-Bertaux, 34, found dead in shallow grave, Kew, 7 March 2019

Yes I agree. A fantasist, and cold and calculating. It seems Laureline still trusted him although they had broken up. How sad for her, and for her dogs. :(

I wonder how much he owed her. How much is "a large amount" nowadays, and in their social circle?

Absolutely manipulative, cold and calculating con artist. Not only he cheated her out of money but made her believe his lies.

It is not just about the money, but imagine on the day you suppose to move out you find out new place does not exist. I can totally see explosion of emotions. I would go ballistic. His lies caught up with him.

Seriously, this boards make me think that London streets are paved with male psychopaths. Chuck in also speed boat killer from few month ago.

This is a total guess but from what I have gathered about these two, they were living together in her expensive flat when he broke it off with her and left her with the financial responsibility and lease IMO. He then tells her he has found a great house for her she can buy as a part of his stringing her along for the money he owed her and then killed her because he is a weak manipulative manchild.

Although the whole thing is infuriating, the part that really gets under the skin is the added insult to injury.
(Allegedly) How dare he, how could he, leave this woman whom he has already used, abused and murdered- to be found bound and naked in garbage bags no less?!
Hmmm, he is aptly named.
imo, speculation.

Looking at his pictures I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out he has some kind of mental illness. Something very unhealthy about his facial expression.

Little bit from yesterday.
________________

Jurors at the Old Bailey heard how Ms Penman was surprised to receive a message from her friend's mobile number describing going on a shopping spree as she preferred to shop online.

Other texts apparently from her friend talked of getting a hot tub, having a "beautiful" new house and a desire to "focus on being young and hot again".

Asked by prosecutor Oliver Glasgow QC if that was how her friend might describe her ambitions for the future, Ms Penman said it was not.

Two days before her body was discovered, Ms Penman said she received another message from Ms Garcia-Bertaux saying she had met a "fit" vet, which, she said, alarmed her as it "seemed far-fetched to me."

I would have thought that after being in a relationship and living with someone that a person could make a decent go of impersonating them by text. It's quite telling that he couldn't. It's like he never really knew or cared about Laureline at all. Gives me shivers.

Yeah all he seemed to do was project his desires onto her. A hottub? Young and fit again? Ugh I'm so sorry for Laureline that she contracted this cancer of a person and could not be cured of him.

Thanks for the updates @Legally Bland ... definitely sounds like a fantasist to me, kill without trace? Failed that! Text as Laureline would? Failed. Escaped the country? Failed at that too ...

I recall that @smucklecrumble was a friend of Laureline :( this must be awful evidence to be hearing!

Hopefully MSM will pick this up (the rest is behind a paywall).

KB is also an expert in strangling people, apparently.
_______________

17SEP2019

A stuntman demonstrated his expertise in strangling to a colleague before he killed his girlfriend and buried her in a flowerbed, a court heard. Kirill Belorusov, 32, bragged of his knowledge of death holds around the neck before he throttled film producer Laureline Marcia-Bertaux, 34, jurors were told. He grabbed Sabrina Severino around the throat and squeezed until she almost passed out. Belorusov later told her in a text message: ‘I was just strangling you. Trust me. I’m an expert.’…

He's still keeping up the cancer storyo_O
______________

Giving evidence in his defence, Belorusov told jurors how he was born in northern Russia where his father was stationed in the military, and not Estonia as previously thought.

He served in the navy for four years before joining his best friend in London to practise his English in 2009, he said.

Starting out working in nightclubs, he worked as an extra in films, progressing to fight choreography for two years, he said.

[...]

Asked about his finances, he said: “It was always changing. Sometimes I had to work 100 hours a week. I was never really wealthy.”

He met Ms Garcia-Bertaux at a gig where a colleague played drums in a band and they got together after their first date, jurors heard.

He told the court he liked her because she was “different” and “not very snobby”.

[...]

On their relationship, he said: “It was absolutely fine. We had arguments, we had disagreements like any couple but everything was OK.”

They would row about food and money and “surprises that come out of nowhere”, he said.

“Several times … Laureline did not have a job for a few months,” he told the court.

“Her job was to take care of the bills and I would give her money to pay the bills and at some moment, two or three months later, we would receive a knock from the bailiffs trying to take our possessions.”

The pair split up in 2016 shortly after they moved to Putney, the defendant said.

[...]

Belorusov insisted he had suffered from cancer with “pancreatic complications” and received drug trials in Sussex, Kent and Ipswich.

The defendant said his symptoms were at times so severe he would cry.

Martin Rutherford QC, for the defence, asked if the cancer ever caused disputes in the relationship.

Belorusov replied: “I had alienated myself from everyone to be honest.”

Earlier, the court heard that inquiries had been made to find out if the defendant had received any treatment in London but there was no record of him at hospitals across the capital.

Further police inquiries were made in East Grinstead, East Sussex, but no health clinics in the area offered cancer treatment.

Her job was to take care of the bills

Why was this her "job"? This is crazy.

So is perjury gonna be added to his charges?

This guy is a nutcase

Moo.

In fairness, if the bills, were in her name then it was 'her job' to pay them.

It sounds to me as though he was saying that she was the one responsible for paying bills, that he would give her money for his share of the bills but, months later it would become apparent that she hadn't used the money he gave her to pay said bills.

A weak attempt at calling her character into question, I think.

Oliver Glasgow QC, prosecuting, asked police officer’s son Belorusov: “Why tell people who care about you all these lies about your cancer treatment?”

He replied: “Probably because I’m cruel or mean or maybe I wanted to hurt her.”

[....]

Mr Glasgow asked: “There are lots of messages calling her beautiful. Why would you say that about someone you had no romantic interest in?”

Belorusov, who denies murdering Ms Garcia-Bertaux, replied: “Did you want me to be honest and call her overweight and fat?

“I started 50 diets with her, I decided to jog with her, run with her go to the gym with her.

“She gained 25kg and her friends were telling her how full of life she is. No, she wasn’t. She was stress eating and none of her friends were telling her that that was a problem.”

[...]

Phone tracking data placed Belorusov at the alleged victim’s home on the day of the murder but he said he spent the evening smoking and sporadically walking back to the filmmaker’s flat because he was “curious” about her progress moving house.

From yesterday:
_________________

Belorusov told Agnes he was dying of cancer and she gave him £11,362 in February to pay for treatment.

The court heard he had arranged to see Agnes on 23 February before treating Ms Severino to dinner at luxury Russian restaurant Novikov with the spoils.

[...]

He lied to Agnes by telling her he had gone to a clinic for emergency cancer treatment in order to buy himself more time entertaining Ms Severino, the court heard.

[...]

He claimed he would transfer £8,000 to Ms Garcia-Bertaux to help her move into a new flat.

Jurors heard he sent a message to the French filmmaker which said: ‘My love, please don’t worry I’ll send you seven to eight thousand pounds.’

Mr Glasgow said: ‘The money you’re referring to there is actually the transfer from Agnes into into your bank account of £11,362, isnt it? She gave you that money.’

‘Yeah and vice versa. I also gave money to her,’ Belorusov replied.

‘Well, she’s the one transferring you £11,362.’

Belorusov, the son of an Estonian police officer, replied: ‘I don’t think it’s up to you to judge me and I’ve been in this country long enough that you should have found my bank account by now if you wanted to ask me about it..’

Mr Glasgow added: ‘We have found your bank account. Guess what? No transfers.’

This guy outs himself as a pure fantasist (and cocky twit!) every time he speaks in court!

If there wasn't a poor dead woman involved then his trial would be laughable!

He closed his eyes and nodded at the jury as the verdict was delivered, and will be sentenced on Friday.

Although he denied murder, a jury of seven women and five men found him guilty after deliberating for less than two hours.

Belorusov worked in bars and nightclubs but claimed he was a stuntman and a casino bodyguard for high rollers.

He said he had worked on the Hollywood blockbuster World War Z starring Brad Pitt, but his name was not listed on the film's credits.

Judge Nicholas Hilliard said: "I'm entirely satisfied the defendant is not someone who believes the lies he tells.

"He just tells them on a scale and magnitude which I have not encountered before. I do not believe he has ever had cancer. I'm entirely sure of that."

[...]

In November 2018, about five months before her death, she had begged Belorusov to repay the money he owed her. In a text message, she wrote: "I don't think you realise how bad the situation is! I can barely pay my rent this month and food for myself and the dogs!"

[...]

In a victim impact statement, her mother Frederique Bertaux said: "The death of one's own child goes against nature.

"There is not a moment during the day I don't think of my Laureline. I can't touch her, I can't kiss her anymore. I watch videos of her just to hear her voice, hear her laugh, to see how she moves.

"It's incredibly hard to begin to describe my sorrow, my heartbreak.

"My darling, you're not here but you're all around me. I love you and I will love you forever."
