Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for the public's help in finding Lee, 36.

Lee Horton.webp

He is missing from Evesham, Worcestershire, but the last confirmed sighting of him was in central Bristol at about 10.30am on Tuesday 11 March 2025.

His family haven't heard from him since Tuesday, when he said he’d catch a train home but failed to return.

Lee, has no known links to Bristol and this is out of character.

He's 5ft 11ins tall with short dark brown hair and a beard and a distinguishing birth mark on his right arm. He was wearing a blue jacket, dark-coloured jeans and had a rucksack.

This is a really strange case. Lee isn’t from Bristol and his family don’t know why he would have traveled here.

He left his house in Evesham around 8am on Monday 10th taking just a bag of clothes.

Tuesday 7-9am police received a report that a man had slipped into the river. By the time the emergency services arrived he was out of the water and was taken to hospital to be checked out.
He was discharged around 10.30am (seems very quick)
At 11.50 am his sister got a message from Lee saying he seemed to be lost and he needed to get out of his wet clothes. He was planning on taking a train home.
He was seen taking money out of an atm around the same time.

Since then his phone has been off and there has been no sightings of him.

Sounds to me like he was in crisis.

The slip into the river probably wasn’t a slip imo.

Knowing how hospitals work if he arrived after 9am and discharged at 1030am that suggests a self discharge to me. Our hospitals don’t work that fast.

Avon and Somerset Police have re-appealed for sightings of Lee, and have added new CCTV images to the appeal.

Police have also added further details:

Lee unsuccessfully tried to book accommodation in the city early on Tuesday, and later visited a bank in Clifton.

Officers have confirmed through CCTV that he was in Upper Maudlin Street at 10.45am on Tuesday (picture above left) and on Queens Road at about 11am (picture above right). All lines of enquiry are being followed up, including focused CCTV checks and enquiries with hotels.

Lee’s family has travelled to Bristol and met with senior investigating officers today, Friday 14 March.

His family say his visit to Bristol is not unusual, as he likes to visit new places, but that it’s out of character for him not to be in contact.

Sorry, where does it say that police responded to a man that had fallen into the river on Tuesday, and that it was confirmed to be him? I can’t see that on your link, the fb post might’ve been updated

TIMELINE OF EVENTS

He contacted his family on Tuesday 11 March saying he was in Bristol and would be catching a train home but didn’t arrive. Their last contact with him was around midday and he was reported missing the next day, Wednesday 12 March.

--- Please see attached map (I don't pretend to be very good at them). Google map states it would be a 17 minute walk.

It would be interesting to know why he failed to book accommodation. Was it that everywhere he tried was booked up, or was what was available out of his budget? From what I've seen, Bristol hotel prices are much higher than you would expect - more on a par with London than, say, Birmingham, Leeds or Manchester.

Also IME, Bristol has a creepy sort of vibe. There's something "off" about it.

I'm surprised there has been no update for a while, even if its just other CCTV sightings.

Right? I was under the impression that there is cctv just about everywhere, but if you were to go by the events in the last few months you’d think there’s barely any, and certainly none covering the Avon or the Frome

Officers are following up all lines of enquiry and have also been carrying out painstaking CCTV enquiries to track Lee’s movements. So far the latest confirmed sighting is in Broadmead, just after 1pm on 11 March.

Enquiries have established that Lee unsuccessfully attempted to book a hotel on Tuesday morning, visited several retail outlets in the Broadmead area and at one point got on and straight off a bus.

‘Early on Tuesday’ could refer to the early hours of the morning - most hotels will not allow you to book at this time as it tends to attract drunks/trouble

That's a good point. Since Lee was seen walking around central Bristol late on Tuesday morning (per previous posts) I wondered whether he had tried to book in to a hotel during the hours for cleaning and turning rooms around. In that case maybe a walk-in would be told to return later when the rooms were actually available, or he didn't want to kill hours in the bar or lobby while waiting to be allowed access to a room.

Is there any information about what he does/did for a living? I've not seen this mentioned but then again I don't used Facebook and don't know whether that is stated on any posts there.

In those cctv images (which are excellent quality btw), he definitely appears wet. He must have been absolutely freezing. I do a lot of cold water swimming and I get in rivers this time of year. I’m pretty tough. But I cannot imagine walking around a city for hours in soaking wet clothes.

To me it seems very strange that he didn’t change, maybe all his clothes were wet if the rucksack went in too, or ask for something warm and dry at the hospital.

I wonder if he was headed to Bristol Temple Meads, based on where he was walking and him saying he would get a train home. It’s possible he even did get on a train, but in the state he was in, he got one somewhere else and has left the city now. I hope LE has enquired around Temple Meads. People would remember a man in soaking wet clothes.

The last sighting is in Broadmead and from the cctv it appears he’s walking towards Cabot circus (a shopping centre, less than 100m in a straight line from where he’s at). They said he visited several shops so he could’ve bought new clothes. Also that road he’s heading to has multiple bus stops so I wonder if that’s where he got on and off the bus.

I’m certain they just have more cctv they’re working through and have at least a general idea of where he was headed. There’s buses passing by there constantly and it’s a busy shopping area. Just up the road is the Marriott and I’m sure they have cctv too
