He could have had a row with his wife and have stormed out. Was buying time. Thinking what to do next?
Equally maybe he was contemplating having a fling, and being a married man it took him some while to think about it and go through with it, maybe there was never the intention to actually harm her.

Especially after watching some of the public appeals featuring her friends. One of them just didn't sit right with me.

Obviously watched too many crime shows and have a suspicious mind.

The poor shrugger really is just a bewildered young man who was upset over losing a friend and more than likely a little awkward and inexperienced when it came to appearing on camera.

I thought the exact same thing but I think that was just due to the Stephen McDaniel interview constantly going through my head when I see witness interviews on television. I hope he and all of Libby’s friends are coping okay with all these recent developments

Regarding scratches and injuries indicating a struggle, what sort of fight could a heavily inebriated person put up? Would the adrenaline kick in enough to properly fight back, assuming hands aren't tied?

Well that was an interesting watch. Firstly you can see he is definitely wearing long shorts just over the knee but when he sits down they ride up so you can see his knees. Although at first he looks like he is rolling a cig he then looks to me to be using both thumbs like someone texting a message with both thumbs. Then when the passenger gets in I see him lean over afterwards and clip her seat belt in. I don't see anything nefarious at all. What is your interpretation of this slowed down magnified footage?
I don’t know why it won’t work for me! I’m choosing the option to slow but it’s moving at normal rate. Can anyone upload it at slowed rate?

A few posts back I see people were discussing the reasons that the screams went on for 15 minutes. It's horrific to think about but she may have been in and out of consciousness. There are attackers that do this purposefully, either by knocking the victim unconscious or strangling, even reviving them at times, vile I know.
With this in mind and if the screams are connected, I doubt anything this attacker did was accidental.

I agree. His sister told the media that Libby asked him to take her home, but that doesn’t make any sense as she lives just around the corner and may not even have had her keys. So we know he very likely lied about the reason Libby was in his car to his sister/wife, etc.

I think he drove by, saw a very drunk, possibly semi-conscious, girl on a bench, and an idea popped into his head. He parked around the corner and weighed the idea up in his mind for a while before deciding to go ahead with it. He then drove her to the park to carry out his plan, at which point LS woke up a bit and realised what was happening, and began screaming. At some point he may have put his hand over her mouth to stop the screams, and LS died. Then he either managed to take the body to the river very quickly or - more likely in my opinion - ran off initially but returned after a while when he realised that leaving Libby with his DNA on her would very likely incriminate him. He then put Libby in his car and drove somewhere else to hide her.

I’ve somehow put my own comment in the quote box above...

These were my early types of thoughts, that it just went horribly wrong, but since the reports of a flasher and the spectacle wearing victim's own e-fit, I started to change my mind

Wouldn't he have rather gone to a pub or club if he was looking for some action? Who chooses a girl who can barely walk and might throw up on you or in your car for a bit of fun on the side? Doesn't sound very likely to me.

Similarly, who sits 20 minutes in the cold if they only wanted to help? Why does he need so much time to get her if he wanted to help her? I don't believe it.

I think his intentions were quite sinister.

Remember by the time this attack might have happened Libby had not drunk anything (as far we know) for upwards of 90 minutes. She must have sobered up a little bit I’d have thought

Are you on a computer or smaller device?

Maybe they found something of interest at the bench, rather than being pointed there by anyone. Something that could have been dropped in the dark and not noticed at the time. Tobacco pouches for instance are quite slippery. If they found something like that and say it is the type he smokes, that would cause the interest. All tenuous on several levels, if..if..if.., but possible.

But...IF he was texting with his thumbs after rolling the ciggie, could he have been still rowing with the wife and then he made his decision on the spur of the moment?

I think she would have sobered up quite a bit in that time. The v cold weather and adrenalin of her predicament could also impact.

This is an interesting watch. The main difference I see when slowed down is that Libby enters the car the right way, ie. sits on seat with knees facing the dashboard. The part that makes me feel there was maybe a struggle is where she is standing in the street, her knees are facing the exit and she seems to step in that direction but it looks as though she is whipped around in an arc, as if P. grabs her and sort of half turns her towards him. That still appears to be the case to me when slowed down. He does look more like he might be thumb texting here. I also get the sense when he stands up after the ‘cigarette’ he sort of makes a bit of a fist, takes a breath (chest straightens) as if gearing himself up. That’s just impressions after first watch at slowest speed.
