I can't make my mind up if it's a good deed gone terribly wrong and he panicked OR the intent to cause harm was there from the start.

Suppose today will tell us more.

I've mixed conclusions too, but there is so much we don't know. If he has done something the kindest thing he could do now is say where she is. The pain of not knowing for her family must be agony.

I expected these responses. Sorry, just had something in my head re a witness mixing the 2 car drivers up if there was no camera footage. I have 2 kids under 3. I know about the need for patience when tired

I'm sorry Stella I didn't mean to sound snarky. I honestly found it admirable how patiently CovermeCagney has explained the situation regarding the bearded driver to several members who had questions about him. She's just very good with these things!

Am no expert in this but I think To secure a charge LE have to prove to CPS that there was a causal link or contributory factor between PR actions which directly resulted in Libby’s demise ( trying to think of a sensitive way to phrase), and the only defence he could have is
1. Not being sane ( probably not relevant)
2. Loss of control ( ie revenge)
3. Suicide pact ( not relevant here)
4. Act of Self defence
Interesting that the sister and mother both indicated that Libby launched herself at him as if she was the aggressor, maybe this was all prediscussed between the family as he might have thought self defence to be the only credible option to get himself out of this, and make out that he was the ‘victim’ not her?

I must admit I've followed this case from the very beginning as Hull uni is very familiar to me but I was shocked when they arrested PR an apparent stranger.

I felt sure that someone known to Libby from Uni was in some way responsible.

Especially after watching some of the public appeals featuring her friends. One of them just didn't sit right with me.

Obviously watched too many crime shows and have a suspicious mind.

If you are referring to the one wearing blue, he didn't leak any lies.

Talking of body language, does anyone know where I can see last night's ITV news as the Cags said the sister was speaking on it. I'd love to see her speaking.

OR because the wife said he was covered in wounds on his face?

It would be interesting to know his background and whether he has previous for any kind of offences towards women.

These stories about peeping toms and flashers got me wondering and makes it all the more sinister if it was him doing these things.

Expecting a charge today but not sure what of...wondering if they could potentially charge him with something completely different to keep him in custody (attempting to pervert course of justice if they think he has lied)?

I personally think they knew very quickly that they were looking at a possible abduction rather than Libby doing something to herself.

If imagine they have much more cctv footage than we know of that shows her been approached then led to the car (if it is her...surely it is). They probably had that fairly quickly.

My own gut feeling is they had PR under surveillance from early on and hoped he would lead them to her...when that wasn't happening they decided to arrest.

I think they acted quickly as well. If the suspect has a prior record of sexual assaults or something the police may have recognised him from the bench CCTV and would have known to act quickly.

Is the part of the video where Libby is put into the car speeded up? I’d like to watch it at normal speed if so. It looks like a struggle/ forced to me. Possibly ending with her knees on the floor of the passenger side and head on the seat, then something thrown over her, but would like to compare if slowed down to normal speed.

I've just gone to the Daily Mail YouTube page. If you click the little cog at the bottom and select 0.25 you get a super slow version. Here is the link:

I had my doubts too until it was pointed out that he was parked up for 20mins by the bench, that just seems very suspicious, not in keeping with illegal taxiing behaviour and am assuming he was planning out his next steps/ revving up to it maybe. However, I know we only have partial info so who knows what the police really know.

Yeh seemed like he was observing her and thinking about what he was going to do and waiting for an opportunity.

If he was a just someone doing a good deed why not stop on main road in full view of everyone..seems calculated.

He could have had a row with his wife and have stormed out. Was buying time. Thinking what to do next?

I agree. The more i watch the video the more i feel he is acting shady. Its like he almost crouches down when the car passes. It does look like the passenger gets in the car unaided to me but possibly whilst being threatened with somekind of weapon ie hammer etc.

Thank you!

Well that was an interesting watch. Firstly you can see he is definitely wearing long shorts just over the knee but when he sits down they ride up so you can see his knees. Although at first he looks like he is rolling a cig he then looks to me to be using both thumbs like someone texting a message with both thumbs. Then when the passenger gets in I see him lean over afterwards and clip her seat belt in. I don't see anything nefarious at all. What is your interpretation of this slowed down magnified footage?

I wondered if he had a friend on there and was maybe waiting around for them.

It's a strange little street that, is it the sort of place you would park up on (innocently) unless you had a reason to? It's a dead end so why go to the hassle of having to turn round unless you had a reason to be there??

Of course the other option is he observed her from main road and decided it was a good place to try and get her in his car from without been seen.

It wouldn’t be revealed if so, as it would risk compromising a trial.
For legal reasons that I’ve never fully understood, jurors are not told about any prior convictions until after a verdict has been reached.

One thing is certain she had the worst luck possible that night.

Reminds me almost of Sian O'Callaghan.

That poor girl walked out of a nightclub and within seconds encountered Christopher Halliwell. Another few minutes either way she would probably have not encountered him at all.

What I find most odd and suspicious is that he would sit for 20 minutes at midnight in the open door of his car in the freezing cold without adequate clothing. I mean, why?? Who does that? That's just very weird behaviour imo.

Yeh I know it wouldn't come out until after trial but would give some idea of the type of person he is and whether it was a pre meditated and calculated attack or just something gone really terribly wrong.

Judging from the CCTV she falls into the car with quite a bounce. It looks to me like she initially keeled over to the side, or forwards, before righting herself. What if she hit her head with some force on the gearstick or dashboard and was hurt? Not to say fatally hurt, but if she gradually became hysterical about it or passed out, he may have panicked and been reluctant both to let her out to make a scene and/or leave her to harm, and not prepared to seek medical help on account of how bad it looked coupled with whatever illegality (unlicensed taxiing, etc) he was committing at the time?
