Maybe bench 2 only figures into his defence. They might have him on cctv entering the neighborhood and not popping up on other cctv within a reasonable amount of time. Maybe PR has told police he dropped her home and then went to the park by himself and smoked a cigarette on the bench.

Good question! I’m not sure, I would have thought you would have to be charged and bailed for them to have the power to seize a passport. Maybe they can request you don’t go anywhere once released without charge until the investigation is conconcluded or you are ruled out as a suspect, but can’t actually stop you?

Jmo there is no way she has been found already. If she were alive it would announced...if not, there would be too much crime scene activity to hide. The media is on their tails. At least some media would find the site. Also there is no reason to hide the fact if she has been located...would at least keep people from searching on their own, which can always be dangerous.

Water is worst case scenario imo, as there is the potential she might never be found. And then it would be much more difficult to prove murder without a comfession. Though of course not impossible. But as far as versus drowning, accidents, etc...especially with so many people telling the media they saw her “falling down drunk.” She really needs to be found...for all reasons...

Yes maybe he told them something to explain anything connected to him they might find in the park. Either that or LE got a tip that made them go there in the dark. If this was part of the ongoing search of the park and ponds surely they would have looked at the bench in daylight. Going there in the evening makes it seem urgent. The bench needed to be checked asap.

Whatever he said to get her to go with him must have been persuasive because there is only just over 20 minutes or so between grey beard man speaking to her at 11.45 and smoking man putting her in the car at 12.09 (if that is LS and PR in the video). For at least 8 of those minutes he was in or around his car.

I am beginning to think they weren't complete strangers - she possibly knew him by sight, either from the gym or as a friend of a friend of an acquaintance type of thing.

He may have spoken to her also before the grey beard man came along?

In the UK they get lots of breaks, meals, eight hours for sleep, snacks, air etc...no chance to complain, really, about comditions during detention, imo. Probably much better than some places in US and more regulated. So that slows things down too.

But...I can’t see too many suspects chatting away with detectives for hours on end anyway. Most probably don’t say a word, except maybe state an alibi, as if they plan to make use of it later, they are required to tell police.

Guess right now all of UK is sleeping, pretty much...by the time I get up tomorrow, it will be at least 4pm Sunday there. Hoping more news by then.

I just thought of something I don’t think has been discussed at all. In a scenario where Libby was attacked and was screaming on and off for 15 minutes, it means she was fighting, literally for her life, which means he should have scratches, bite marks or other injuries .

I didn't think it looked like smoking anyway.
Afraid to ask, but does anyone think he could have been removing a condom in that scene? Then later on when he's at the other side of the car he was pulling his trousers back on?

The custody officer at the police station must explain your rights. You have the right to:

• get free legal advice
• tell someone where you are
• have medical help if you’re feeling ill
• see the rules the police must follow (‘Codes of Practice’)
• see a written notice telling you about your rights, eg regular breaks for food and to use the toilet (you can ask for a notice in your language) or an interpreter to explain the notice

You’ll be searched and your possessions will be kept by the police custody officer while you’re in the cell.

Your rights when being questioned

The police may question you about the crime you’re suspected of - this will be recorded. You don’t have to answer the questions but there could be consequences if you don’t. The police must explain this to you by reading you the police caution:

“You do not have to say anything. But, it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence.”

Yes a lawyer will be present at all times (during questioning) if they have requested one. If no lawyer is requested they will go ahead without.
There is no such thing as a break, if not being questioned they are returned to their holding cell where there have a bed/bathroom.
Yes he can absolutely refuse to talk, lots of people will literally answer “no comment” but it’s the police’s job to facilitate discussion, they will make clear that if this goes to court and becomes clear the person in question is guilty, their stance will be much harsher given they refused to give any information at interview.
No visitors - for obvious reasons.
