?

LE will always say and hope that a person is alive u less there is evidence to prove that they are deceased. This is an example of what that would look like (blood evidence, confession, missing gone a very long time, etc:

( Longmont police believe Rita Gutierrez-Garcia is dead, have ID'd 'person of interest' )

I need to see this case you reference because no way someone’s going to pursue murder charges without evidence.

It's not possible to charge without it because CPS must outline the actus reus of the crime of murder in the information.

So specifically

1. Evidence that the person is dead

2. Evidence that the person died as a result of an unlawful act or omission

In some rare cases, it has been possible to infer guilt without a body and without knowing exactly how the victim died.

See for example Ben Smart and Olivia Hope who were allegedly dumped at sea.

Murder in the Sounds: what really happened to Ben Smart and Olivia Hope?

so not only was he being pervy and burglarizing homes near his house he shared with his wife, but the situation with LS also went down near his house? is that correct? i'm going to say he offended close to home so that if he ever got caught or seen by anyone he could easily and quickly just run home and hide. surely his wife has seen some unusual behavior, bc if we KNOW about 2 times in the last month-2 (the break-ins), who knows how many times he's actually done this. hopefully she will be able to come forward and shed some light on her husband once the shock wears off. where did he hide his "souvenirs" and stolen goods that his wife didn't find them?

OH MY GOD. I've just been out shopping so got 100 messages to read so don't know if this has been mentioned, so sorry if it has.

I've just been talking to my partner and realised something...

WHY would PR put Libby's address in the SatNav when clearly he knows where Wellesley is because he was literally masturbating on Wellesley only a few days earlier?? Did he do it on purpose just to make it look like he was going to take her home but he didn't? He KNEW where Wellesley is!

That’s a interesting question

The whole satnav thing is weird! If libby wanted to go home she would of just walked surely. We think she didnt have keys so why would she want to?!

im 100% certain its him in the cctv video. When he looks at the camera you can see the outline of his glasses.

I don’t think we can take the words of the sister to the press seriously. There is a lot she said now fast being presented as fact.

We don’t know how they extracted that information, we don’t know her character. I also wish they’d leave his poor mum alone.

Yeah, as I posted his lack of English might not make him reassure her, putting in the postcode is a way to reassure someone that you are genuine. I am sure if he asked her where she lived she would have said the street name first rather than a postcode, I can't see someone really drunk just saying the postcode. He obviously would have known once he heard the street name. I just see too many coincidences for it not to be linked to him harming her and I sure the police do too.

Yes he did. He told his sister he gave her a lift.

A lot of news reports have text along the lines of '...the sister claims he offered to give Libby a lift home...', but when it's given as a direct quote from family it's '...she said, "He stopped to help a crying girl. He offered her a lift. She gave her postcode." Girl, her, she; no name.

Yes, I believe that’s why he said that about sat nav and it’s also why he said she came onto him. He’s trying to explain away any evidence they may find and anything that makes him look bad. I think it’s literally the opposite of what he said.
I also think he drove her home, and carried on past her house and kept her in the car and then went elsewhere. I think he done this to fool cctv and back his story.
He’s had everyone fooled, he’s extremely conniving and unphased by it all.
The park may be a complete red herring and that’s why they have yet to find anything.
I may be wrong but right now, that’s how it looks to me. He fits the bill for being a sociopath, given that he’s concealed his true nature so well (if guilty) possibly even a psychopath.

I don't think the police would have been able to arrest PR on suspicion of abduction and question him for 96 hours, unless they had some evidence that linked him to Libby. The police need "probable cause" for the initial arrest and then court approval to keep the suspect in custody for further questioning in relation to the arrest.

Exactly.

And that evidence is the CCTV of her getting into his car - that is how they tracked PR down in the first place.

That is enough to get over the low bar of arrest.

Maybe Libby saw him being a perv and said she was going to report him?

Now knowing the charges, I wonder whether the whole illegal taxiing thing was something he told people he was doing to cover what he ways _actually_ doing?
*shudder*

Well, in honesty, we only have HER word for that. And she could just as easily said it to somehow feel she was protecting him.
The CCTV hadn't been released at this stage though, the sister would have no reason to create a defensive story involving PR's car. Her brother had just been arrested on suspicion of abduction, it seems insane that she would then create a fabricated story that places him with Libby on the night she disappeared. I suppose his sister might know that he does some illegal taxi driving and so assumed this is why their paths crossed? Though we have no proof that this is even the case. His sister also gave those extra unnecessary details about Libby's address being in GPS, and Libby "throwing herself" at PR. It seems far more likely (to me) that this was the story PR gave to his wife once the police started sniffing around.

Maybe. "I'm just going out to earn our family some extra money babe" would be a lot better than him saying "I'm just going out to masturbate in public babe".

Interesting that all these charges and addresses related to them are all within metres of his own front doorstep and under the eyes of his wife too!

I'm baffled why someone would phone the police to report that 3 vibrators have been stolen!! Finding that one rather peculiar and a tad amusing in a weird way!

Imagine when the police officer says, "can you describe the stolen items?"

This incident might have only come to light once LE got a sense of his proclivities and they started asking around to see if anything of that nature had been stolen and not reported?

Though if there was a break-in and someone's underwear drawer was left open maybe they did call police and tell them that there were some specific items missing...

We can take one thing seriously and that is that Libby was in his car.

The rest may well be lies told by PR, but it is laughable to suggest his own family is putting Libby in his car if he had not admitted as much.

The satnav detail. Was there a language barrier, was the satnav used so libby could tell him where she lived.

  • #480
Yes he did. He told his sister he gave her a lift.

Without wishing to be pernickity I think we only know that his sister SAID he said that, unless I've missed it (quite possible) we don't know when this was said and directly to whom
