I don't know how relevant or not this is, but...

My son recently got his first phone, today is the first time he's been away with it (visiting grandma) and I've just checked on "find my friends" and can see they are on a walk through the village and that they stopped at the shop. It's literally tracking his every move, I'm amazed that it's so accurate!

Shows that phones CAN be tracked with pinpoint accuracy and I'm wondering if location history can be retrieved.
I read at the very beginning that she didn’t have her phone with her, she left it at home

I don't think they do either.
I dont think it's their fault or they've done anything wrong. I just don't think they have anything to go on.
I think it's more the case that they are sure they know who is responsible for Libby's disappearance, and they've got him in custody for other charges, but they cannot yet prove that he abducted or killed Libby. The conclusive evidence is just not there yet.

This is why so many of us have speculated that they know something that hasn't been released - the fact that the search area has been so limited and targeted. If they didn't know anything, wouldn't they start to branch out and away from the park?

They could have had him under observation for a day or two, people following his movements, put a tracker on his car, seen him go into the park and throw something into the bushes - before later arresting him at home (speculation).

Grey beard probably did not make the call. If he did they would have already his details so wouldn't need to put out an appeal to find him.

EDIT - This was in response to Stella8 on the previous page, but issue with adding the quote.

I think the police could have still had a reason to believe she was alive as it’s a missing person case, I can’t see they would have waited at all to arrest, time was too precious

You're right, she didn't have her phone, it was at home. I'm thinking of other phones, PR's for example.

But you've made me think - won't the police know which phones were in or near the park area that night? I'm sure they can use triangulation and pings to pinpoint which phones pinged the signal there.

Not necessarily. If they suspected they would get a no comment interview the best thing to do is observe and see if he leads them to her. Once the police take someone in, if they don't cooperate they have a real problem and an abducted person can die whilst a perpetrator is in custody - especially if they get charged and still won't reveal location.

I believe there is a mobile phone mast next to the wind turbine, think I saw one on satellite image anyway.

I'd say for sure they had him under surveillance from very early on until his arrest late on that Wednesday evening.

It's been done on other missing persons cases in the past where they have hoped they would be led to the victim.

It's not an unusual tactic at all.

Could he have reported anonymously? Would he have definitely asked for details? I reported a fight in a street once, they didn’t ask me for contact details

If he reported anonymously (which is almost impossible to do on a mobile unless you are a tech whizz), he was still observed in some way because the police described his hair/beard, colour of car and potential make(s) of car. There is no fixed CCTV directly near the bench, so my guess is that someone saw him. Not sure that dashcam footage will have seen enough to know he was helping her and rule him out (maybe, but my guess is no).

At the minute I agree ..I think all the work behind the scenes is around getting enough evidence to charge their current suspect
I think this time frame of CCTV had been chose because its people passing around the time he is seen leaving the area by car nearer the main rd

I wonder why they are still looking for any info up till 2.30am ? Do they know the "suspect" drove out of the area of the park around 2.30 to 3am ? They make it clear in their new statement he is still being investigated

I've been well out of the loop in darkened room on morphine the last few days due to hurting myself quite badly... just surfacing since the weekend.

So they have released CCTV from Croda at 1:40amish from the end of Oak Road?

I am guessing these are potential witnesses just to prove that whatever had happened in the park was over by then, process of crossing things off?

Perhaps there was a car parked in the carpark at the end of Beresford Avenue - which these passer by would have passed on their way to Clough Road.

Again, apologies for the delays, but I have a lot of material to get through, photos, vidoes I have been taking since Thurday to process. I'm trying to upload in a meaningful way, rather than just throw it all up there.

Be back soon!

So...had a drive down to Oak Rd and the Croda entrance where the cctv is taken from. A couple of things that suprised me...

Im not good with maps or visualising areas. The nature of the cut-through from Croda entrance to the Park carpark and 2nd entrance amazed me. Its about a 2min walk at most. Straight. You can see opposing end bollards from each end.

Railings both sides of the pathway. On the one side walking from pedestrian park entrance you have houses that face the park and then allotments and the other is wooded and then Croda.

Ive taken a couple mins of video walking from park ped entrance to bollards at croda junction. Its VERY BADLY shot and Im wheezing !! I will post it but not sure if useful?

Secondly I was stunned at just how close the figures on cctv are to the Mecca bingo carpark/building. Must be 50yrds when they leave frame to our left. As a member ( eek...) i parked in Mecca and had a look at obv cctv camera placings. Carpark covered from all sides but I would say that it may not cover the road or the pavement as it passes.

Two things I thought... if the guy running on cctv was running because something had scared him, that something may not have been in the park but could have on the footpath itself as he was walking normally down it or in the allotments to one side or the wood/scrub area on other side of footpath.

If he had been really scared by something while he was in the park then it would make more sense and safer to run out of the park ( from car park or from ped entrance) and onto Beresford and Estate than down a cut through.
