What’s the hint please?

Going from what we know, this seems like the most likely situation (if he's involved and intended to her harm her). He might have made a general plan of what he'd do if given the opportunity and saw Libby as an easy target that night.

Highly unlikely. He would not be able to predict that she would be going out, get very drunk, get turned away from the Club, get a taxi alone, not have her phone, not be able to (or want to) enter her home, then wander onto a main road. And he would also need to know what time all this was to happen.

It's a perfect storm of misfortune.

Yes I agree but I can’t think of one missing persons case where the parents are this silent

What can they say? Their young daughter is missing, they must be in agony.

  • #84
I know that but I thought they’d do another press release or some form of statement to the media. It sounds like they’ve been keeping a low profile

Just to add to that.

A guy very very local to me with no previous of anything sexual related had what was called a 'night of terror' and attempted to assault one woman, sexually assaulted another and then raped a girl 4 times in front of her mum (who he beat up and forced to watch).

I believe he had been trouble before for some sort of charge involving fighting but the sexual offences were a first for him.

blimey. Just goes to show anything is possible

Her poor poor parents, I'm heartbroken for them. How can anyone criticise them.

We know that she is a 21 year old girl at university. We know what she was studying, we know were she originated from. We know she went missing. IMO that is all we need to know.
I understand what you are trying to say...and this may be all that WE need to know. But in investigating these types of situations, LE does need to know these things about a potential victim. Also, if this is truly a forum for theorizing about why someone is missing, how, etc., then I think it is acceptable to respectfully speculate about details that might have contributed to the situation. I do not think that we should in any way implicate her, blame her, criticize, etc., but a person's demeanor can potentially offer valuable leads.

There could be very valid reasons why not very much information has been released, in order to protect the investigation. I know we all want to know more and possibly think that releasing more information to the public might generate leads, but none of us really know what's going on behind the scenes. I think it will be very telling what happens around PR's court date. If there is a danger of him being released, we might see an entirely different approach from LE as that time approaches.

I agree. People deal with grief and stress in different ways.

Some people are just private people and it's not in their nature to put themselves out there. I'm sure, if they thought it would help, they would. However, we have to respect that they're doing what they feel comfortable doing and choosing to let the police handle the media.

So we’re expected to wait until March 11th???

Informally it's just called "Newland". People say "I live on Newland", "I'm going on Newland", or "Newland Ave" etc.

Locals wouldn't usually call Newland "The Avenue" because "The Avenues" is a colloquial name for a whole cluster of streets near Newland (e.g. Princes Avenue, Victoria Avenue). If you just said "The Avenue", nobody would know what you meant because nearby Princes Avenue is also a very popular neighbourhood and place for drinking and dining.
Yes Im aware of that. I was trying to propose other uses of 'The Avenue' other than in relation to Newland.

I first lived on the Avenues 30+yrs ago when nice but dull, bearded, Liberal academics lived there, before hipster culture saved the area from bedsit Hell.

I had to get out when Ray's Place lost its alcohol licence for the 15th time.

Not been back at all since the area sadly lost The Boar's Nest .

Now safely ensconced in the W Hull villages.

eta. I lied. I won the quiz a few weeks ago at The People's Republic. Forgot. ;)

Nobody is critisising babe
I was replying to the person who said that all we need to know is that she is a student, that she is 21, etc., implying (I think) that we should not discuss her behavior, demeanor, or state of mind. I believe that was said in an effort to emphasize that, no matter what her state of mind, she did not deserve this. I completely agree! I didn't think anyone was criticizing. I was just saying that I think it is acceptable to discuss her possible state of mind if it might have contributed to her situation, her being vulnerable, etc. And, even if we aren't entitled to speculate about more personal aspects of LS's life, these are things that LE does need to consider. I was just saying that I think all of the people on here DO respect LS and mean no harm when they speak about any behavior or emotions that LS might have displayed - and that there is more to her than being a 21-year-old student.

I think we can all say whatever we like on here because we all have our own opinions x

It doesn't necessarily show confidence as he may have known the routine of the people.

When I was a student I went home (with my housemates) every weekend for the first few weeks and often got a taxi back to our house from the bus stop on a sunday evening. One weekend a taxi pulled up as we walked out from the bus depo and the driver was a guy we'd got a lift with twice before. While he was driving us, he commented that he'd driven past to see if any of us were waiting for a taxi. More significantly, he said mentioned that he knew we wouldn't all need a lift as he'd noticed lights on when he'd driven past on the saturday night. That freaked us out as we'd all gone home but had just got different buses back. When questioned, he said that the light was on in the bedroom upstairs and that the light above the stairs had switched on as he was going past. Needless to say the locks were changed the following day, and we changed our routine.

Also, as there were no charges before PR's house was searched, it's possible that police found evidence to the crimes during their search.

ewww that is really spooky and just shows how some people are more than observant

To me, that gear fumble combined with the previous multiple locking/unlocking, could suggest someone who is flustered for some reason, put off their normal routine. Getting in and driving off is so habitual, that when one is under stress or something unusual occurs to screw up the routine, that's when you do stupid stuff like drive off without putting your headlights on, or with the handbrake still engaged.

OR not used to driving that car...

I was simply theorizing...and it isn't up to us unfortunately. If we are waiting, I have to think there is a good reason. I obviously don't know this for sure. Do members on here who are local have faith and confidence in LE there? Or, do most members on here think they are dropping the ball?

Thankfully its beyond your comprehension to understand how her parents are feeling. It will take tremendous courage and create enormous stress to do a press conference and am sure we all feel they are going through enough right now. I am not entering an argument which is off topic with you so, please just understand from their side which is more important and no more needs saying.

No that's what I was trying to say! I mean he may have generally planned what he'd do to someone, not that he was targeting Libby or someone in her exact situation that night.

Agreed! Completely. And I think we all share your feelings, or else we wouldn't be on here. We are desperate for information...I can only hope that we can trust that LE is making progress and doing the right thing by holding back certain information.
