Would PR risk the chance of being seen carrying Libby back to his car when he could use the cover of darkness in the park to reach the river there.

That is true, of course, but the Oak Playing Fields are a long way upstream on the River Hull and I just doubt that the body would have made it all the way down to the TSB and the confluence with the Humber without being found before it was. But yes, that would also explain the lack of forensic in the car if she was never put back in there.

So difficult for me as I am not local - but could you explain the Wimcolmlee reference please? Where is that?

I can only go by the tidal flows from the area plod have been searching around the Oak Road area, and Kolumbo/Strontium have provided excellent refernces to those.

Wincolmlee is a street in Hull which hugs the course of the river as it approaches the city centre and Humber estuary. It's largely an industrial area - and for that reason I don't buy that it's without CCTV.

I see... that got me, have I skimmed any rules tough? As this is my first forum, I may make the odd faux pas. Thank you for clarifying for me.
Mine too! And ‘ quite’ means endorsement ! Sorry if caused offence. Not meant . Just posting links to CPS / guidelines to inform . Must reply to actual first post quite clearly . Sorry!

I was just about to say that. If Greybeard was caught on a mobile cam, then it doesn't follow that PR (if it was he) would be seen at the same spot.

I've said before - I think the most likely reason that Greybeard stopped is because Libby had fallen over. She might even have fallen in the road itself. We know from witnesses that she fell over earlier, and it was an icy night. There must have been a very strong reason for stopping the car, and seeing an interaction between two people is unlikely to have been enough.

I’m inclined to agree Cherwell. My initial interpretation of a ‘distressed’ girl was a girl crying on a bench. But not only is the bench set back, would a motorist really stop to speak to a crying drunk girl sat on a bench?

<*Snipped* reference to friends/family SM comments.>

Perhaps she’d fallen and GB helped her out of the road and onto the bench. Possibly asked if he could call anyone or take her home but she refused. I do feel all this was captured on cctv which enabled LE to quickly dismiss his involvement and see PR approach, walk her to his car, which was then captured on cctv and the number plate rapidly led them to him. I also suspect he was possibly under surveillance prior to arrest.

Wincolmlee is a former mixed industrial/ residential area on the west bank of the River Hull which was extensively bombed in the Blitz and all of the former terraced housing is now gone for good and replaced by lock up yards, industrial units and warehouses. Because of this, it's relatively quiet in the early hours because well, who would want to wander round deserted warehouses in the middle of the night. Even Wincolmlee is, however, quite a way upstream from the confluence of the River Hull and the Humber estuary, and of course, given that there are many private companies owning these scrapyards, tyre shops, kitchen manufacturers and all the other types of small businesses, they will probably have their own CCTV even if there's no public "on street" CCTV.

Plus the perpetrator would have had to load LS back into the car to take her there, so maybe, as I said above, the simple explanation is the correct one and somehow the body managed to make its way all the way down the River Hull and into the Humber without being spotted (I think the first - unverified - report of a body was just off The Deep, which is a tourist attraction aquarium thing build on what was always know as "Sammy's Point", where the River Hull joins the Humber, just past the Tidal Surge Barrier.)

I have thought exactly the same things.Could it be to encourage the cyclist or any one else to come forward with information.

Perhaps the police would only let it be released if it was disguised in some way.
I think the police have a much clearer version.

But then the police would have put something out officially appealing for people, like the Oak Road cctv, not left it with just the media.

This was my feelings also ..I followed the river down on Google earth and it's almost all industrial which is usually full of cctv

But surely he still has a choice there Jessie?

Let’s say he told PR ‘if we apply for bail, the police are going to strongly oppose it’, if you found yourself in that position, what would you do? It’s not a police decision, the judge gets to decide, so I personally would say ‘hey, I have nothing to lose! Request I get bailed.

In his circs, I’d be staying put, he’d be dead in a week.

Was there a hammer found near where Libby went missing? I recall reading such....but am not sure if the owner was found?

A famous serial killer - some with an aspiration to be a serial killer/ sexual predator have aspirations/role models- I just thought it to be interesting.Particularly if the hammer was brought out and later discarded, for whatever reason. The hammer just struck my memory of this polish SK hence sharing the link. Paweł Tuchlin - Wikipedia
