Your comment struck me between the eyes! What are the odds of walking out of your front/back door and disappearing within 100m? Does that not lend itself to a targeted attack or that LB's home address plays a much more significant part in this?
Another possibility and it is MOO .....knowing the scrap metal lads around where I live tend to occasionally help themselves to stuff from your backyard/garden.....has the suspect been in LB’s yard and she has popped her coat on to go around the back to catch him at it hence having no bag or phone etc on her ??

....you say him being the only one arrested......MOO is that’s it’s an ongoing investigation and perhaps they have enough to charge the boy and obviously within the time constraints etc had to ......perhaps he is a lone wolf if it’s as straight forward as him going out looking for a victim....but would there still be such a police presence in the locations if he has fessed up to it being just that ??

Yes, if they are looking for outstanding evidence....possibly LB's mobile phone, keys, clothing etc.

LE still need to build an evidential case, irrespective of admissions in police custody.

The available evidence needs to be put to the suspect in the interviews in police custody until there is sufficient evidence to charge, providing continued detention is authorised and then not beyond the 96 hour limit.

Different time limits apply for terrorism related offences.

I put forward just such a theory some days ago. However, I haven't seen any comments that Scenes of Crime have been seen at LB's home address. Maybe they did it very discreetly, if they did attend!

LE haven't publicly released a statement of this but after formally identifying LB,, i seen LE searching behind the whittikers arms,, but Saturday just passed I was in the area going to fuel up and LE on the block of houses before whittikers arms in normal uniform but white mask on and carrying bags in hand so I feel LB address has been searched,, again I know this could be classed as speculation and not fact but I do hope with LB having her keys with her,, the suspect has entered LB house and the dna is present in LB house,, as there would be no reason of that

Scenes of Crime officers are invariably not LE officers, but scientific support staff.

If they were doing a scene examination then they would be dressed to maintain the integrity of the scene, i.e. minimise the risk of contaminating the scene by introducing unconnected material from elsewhere and vice versa....hence white suits, gloves, foot coverings, masks and headwear.

I'd be very suprised if she had been killed in her house then quickly moved ..it seems impossible for her not to be caught on CCTV returning
It's not impossible after the event he entered her house using her key if he could link her to the address but again very unlikely imo he would not know who might be at the house at any time

Unless of course he had been watching her !

If he pleaded guilty there is still a form of court process to go through which will entail a hearing for him to formally enter his plea followed by any mitigation and sentencing reports and then the actual sentencing hearing at crown court. It would all happen pretty quickly or as soon as the court system will allow AND as soon as the police prosecution file is completed with enough evidence contained within to support the charge of murder and to fulfill the requirements of CPS charging criteria This is in the event that further down the line for whatever reason, no appeals are made that the suspect didn’t understand what he was pleading guilty to etc especially with him being a juvenile
Unless of course he had been watching her !
I've wondered about that too. Was he watching her or obsessed with her somehow? Or was this truly just a random act.

I understand people murder for numerous reasons and I know children do kill but I find it very difficult to comprehend a 16 year old pre planning a random attack then going to the bother of hiding the body then moving it possibly days later if that’s what has happened.MOO

Or even if not her own garden, could she have seen something going on from a back window of her house which she went to investigate?

Is it known if she lived alone or did her children live with her?

she lived on her own. Her daughter was due at 6pm for a meal with Lindsay.

One possibility for the sudden change in focus of LE activity, other than the suspect making credible statements, is that intelligence came back indicating the suspects movements....maybe CCTV or analysis of his mobile phone GPS/cell site data.

Thank you...that is very true. I just found it a little weird when they all ascended that morning and not prior to his arrest or the day of his arrest because they had him as a suspect straight away as opposed to someone they wanted to talk to.

I would also like to thank you too for all your input of behind the scenes goings on etc... some of the information has been a little comforting understanding what is going on behind scenes etc. Being a female living and working in the area it has been and is quite scary not knowing what’s going on or why it’s happened, but I understand why the LE are only drip feeding locals with information.

Can I draw on your expertise and ask if other charges are added to it..for example a sex attack...on the day he has to enter a plea would he have to make a guilty or not guilty plea on each of the charges or is it just one collective plea

He has to make individual pleas to each and every charge laid against him

You would think her daughter would have a set of keys? Up until recently I have had a set of keys to my parents door and I live four hours away. Should she had arrived at her mother's house and let herself in and seen the house in any kind of disarray that could be a reason for her being high risk from the off?

MOO

I know it’s all pretty gross, but I do love it. I get an insight from the things I see and hear, that many would never or could imagine.
That’s what I have always said about my time in the police
I feel very privileged to have been involved in and seen and heard and been privy to a lot of things that you could never imagine in your wildest dreams and wouldn’t have ever crossed your mind normally and I am very thankful for having the opportunity
Good to have you on here it explain some things. We all learn something new everyday. Thank you

She had walked past the alleyway leading up to the back of her house though.

I doubt she would have been able to see from her window that far down near the pub

Did LE say she had them “with” her or that they were missing?

They said she had her keys and phone with her but have only mentioned the phone has missing

Thank you for your kind words.

The LE investigation process has to be comprehensive and considered and the actions follow established protocols, to ensure they meet the highest standards and also the legal framework of legislation under which UK LE operates.

UK LE don't give a running commentary of progress, as it may not only undermine the ongoing investigation, but also the defendent's right to a fair trial. The jury must consider only the evidence presented to them at the trial and not be subject to any external influence.

The UK is a safe country, where your chance of being a victim of violent crime is low. Young males of about 16-24 are the group most likely to be victims of assaults etc.

Therefore, please don't worry unduly. Although, it is always good to be aware of your situation and surroundings and take simple sensible precautions to reduce the minimal risk even further.
