No stab wounds
Dr Carter said there was ‘no stab wounds or incision wounds’ on Lindsay’s body.

She said it was ‘very difficult to see if there was any bruising’ because of the level of decomposition, which was worse on the top half of her body.

I disagree i think if it was planned by somebody else, they wouldnt have him walking around with her body in a wheelie bin, more likely she woiuld have ended up in a canal or under a concrete slab, just my opinion. Also the police dog was near the wheelie bin because it was only 6 metres away, so i think the area should have been thoroughly checked. I think the police have messed up. Also the fact that nobody else has been seen or arrested makes me think lone wolf.

Just one of the many theories I've thought about. I think the wheelie bin was cleaned. A few people who seen it is checked it said it was like new. How if it has a body in it with undergrowth on it. He's cleaned it and left it. Otherwise it would have smelled pretty bad.

I know bloody and hair can still be found even of it's been cleaned.

DAY FOUR: Lindsay Birbeck trial continues. Witnesses to take the stand

11:15am
Dr Carter said: "There was some attempt to cut off the right leg after death."

11:14am
Dr Carter said that due to the colouring on Lindsay's neck and torso, which was dark purple in colour, it was difficult to see if there was any bruising there, and any darker patches on her body 'may have been bruising' but were very difficult to distinguish due to the severe decomposition of her body.

11:09am
She formally pronounced Lindsay Birbeck dead at 8.25pm on August 25.

She is explaining to the jury that decomposition of Lindsay's body was worse in the top half than the bottom half.

11:07am
She told the jury the postmortem was carried out at Royal Blackburn Hospital

11:06am
Dr Carter has told the jury the body found in the cemetery was decomposed, with maggot infestation, and was found on its back with the neck flexed.

She also told the court the body was naked.

KEY EVENT

'Attempt to cut off leg after death'

Dr Carter said there was a 16cm laceration injury on Lindsay’s right leg.

It had cut through the muscle to the knee cap and there was a 4.5cm cut of the femur bone and knee cap.

She said: “Whatever was used to cut the leg had slightly glanced off the bone.

“The appearance of that have every indication that there had been some sort of attempt to cut off the leg after death’.

seems like a lot of the “local” rumours at the time weren’t so much rumours

For anyone else who ( like me ) didn't know - this means head bent down towards the body

Neck cartilage fracture 'required significant force'
The jury have been told that Lindsay sustained a fractured cartilage in her neck.

When asked by the prosecutor how difficult it is to fracture, Dr Carter said: “In order to fracture these structures they require significant force.

“In summary there appeared to be crushing of the larynx. That appeared to be crushed.”

11:26
Injuries happened 'before Lindsay's death'
Dr Carter said in her view the neck injuries were made ‘ante-mortem’ - before Lindsay’s death.

This is due to the different levels of decomposition.

She told the jury: “In summary, the larynx appeared to be crushed and the muscles in the front of the neck were decomposing quite badly and appear to be more advanced in decomposition than those around it.

“The neck appeared to have ‘gone off’ if I can put it like that, quicker than the rest of the body.

“If you have an injury to the area of the body before death these tend to go off more quickly than other areas.”

11:27
Jury break
The jury and the defendant are now being given a 30-minute break.

We will resume the blog at around 12pm.
