Thank you for these updates @SpursGyal . Much appreciated.

I think that would be a humungous mistake for the defence...

I think it would be astonishing, given what we have heard re his verbal abilities - I suspect it's just the paper making a headline because he is actually in court today

Can anyone remember when the first trial was called off? I'm sure we heard all the prosecution case, but can't remember anything from the defence.

We didn't hear defence your correct. It did however take twice as long to get to this point...

30 minutes delay
The Judge has just sent a message to the jury saying they are still dealing with some preliminary issues.

There will be a delay in resuming the trial of about 30 minutes.

Yeah your right there was nothing from defence. So all that happens from today is new information to all who have been following

Yes, it was at this point that the Judge and Barristers had a pow wow in chambers. The next thing the jury were dismissed!

I am hoping that the defence aren't making an application for charges to be dropped owing to a lack of evidence!

That would indeed be controversial.

Short adjournment
There will now be a short adjournment while the preliminary matters are dealt with.

The Judge has left the court room while this is done.

It seems like whenever the defendant is in court, there are nothing but delays and delays. Are his learning difficulties that bad that he doesn't understand what's going on? Maybe the defence are arguing that, as he doesn't understand the proceedings, it's not a fair trial.

They would have submitted many reports and argued that fact at the last trial if that was the case i believe.

And it was all running so smoothly...

It really was until today. I bet it gets adjourned for the day. I really want to see what the defence case is. Another man was seen in the area? There are other people who would want LB dead? There is another man's dna on her body??? JMO and own speculation

Jury now in court
The jury have now been brought into court.

Her Honour Mrs Justice Yip has apologised for the delay.

She said: “I’m very sorry you have been kept waiting this morning. We are reaching the end of the prosecution case and it will finish this morning.

“It’s not unusual at this stage for various loose ends to be tied up without the jury present.”
