I don't doubt some of the emotion was real, it was still her son. But I believe it was dramatised by adding worry, stress and anxiety of facing arrest and prosecution.

'John Cole obviously lied about so many matters in his evidence', says Williamson's barrister

Mr Rouch turns to the evidence of John Cole.

He said: “There were three people alone with Logan in that flat on the night he died. John Cole, Angharad Williamson and (the youth). Only three people can tell you what happened that night.

“Mr Cole gave evidence, it’s a matter for you but you may think that John Cole obviously lied about so many matters in his evidence to you that you can’t accept a word he says. The lie persisted when he gave evidence. When he was asked about those matters he told lie after lie after lie.”

The barrister refers to Cole’s claim Logan kept bringing up Williamson and Ben Mwangi and their visit to London.

Mr Rouch said: “We have all had contact with three to five-year-olds, would they take an insignificant matter and two years later the child is still talking about it. Is that even credible?

“He said Logan brought it up on the Friday, do you believe that? He brought up something two years before which was dismissed as significant by Cole and Angharad Williamson.

“Is it the case that John Cole just wouldn’t let it go, John Cole believed Angharad Williamson had some kind of sexual relationship with Ben Mwangi. He brought it up and questioned poor Logan about it in a loud and aggressive manner he had. Was it any wonder Logan would flinch when John Cole would tower over him?”

just editing to say I'm sure that's a typo - they must mean insignificant

If you're upset enough you can be sick. Even if the upset is brought on yourself....
Yes, that's what I said before - her reactions could have been genuine but it doesn't mean she's innocent.

Exactly. It's a poor argument for the defence.

'It’s another bare faced lie'

Mr Rouch turns to Cole’s alleged claim about the SAS.

He said: “Do you have any doubt at all John Cole lied about being in the military, particularly the SAS.

“You heard from Ethan Bevan say John Cole had been in the special forces. If John Cole didn’t say he was in the special services, who on earth should Ethan Bevan involve it.

“And John Cole said it to Angharad Williamson. When she was cross examined it was suggested she was making it up but that doesn’t bear scrutiny. What an extraordinary coincidence.”

Mr Rouch also made reference to Cole’s alleged claim of being subject to an IPP sentence. He added: “It’s another bare faced lie.”

That's not the point though. She would have been genuinely stressed out by everything that had happened. That doesn't prove her innocence.
Exactly. She could have been dry heaving and vomiting because she was truly scared of the circumstances--knowing they might be arrested anytime.

Oh OK.
Mr Rouch is gaining momentum now tearing into JC.

Sometimes it someone dry heaves enough it can actually induce vomiting. Be interesting to know whether she had a full stomach .

The trouble with what he is saying are some of JCs lies is that he never actually said them in police interviews or on the stand. AW was the one who made claims re the SAS and the 99 year sentence. There is no evidence of him saying that except for AWs word and she has also demonstrated that she tells lies.

I think he should also try and give an explanation for the lights and the curtains moving. He seemed to mention it and kind of brush it off---but it needs some kind of reasonable explanation....but there might not be any.

I think AW's comment about the youth running back by hopping the fence seemed improbable---but maybe a barrister could make a reasonable attempt to shape it into a believable scenario. ...?

Shoulder-to-shoulder

Mr Rouch makes reference to the youth’s involvement.

He said: “Angharad said she was so upset and ran out of the flat and Rhiannon Hales happened to be outside and Angharad told her immediately what (the youth) had just said, that he had pushed Logan down the stairs.

“You think there’s very little doubt (the youth) actually said that. It happened contemporaneously…..

“On the night John Cole left number five with Logan’s body, he told you under oath (the youth) was not with him. He said he was not aware of (the youth) being there.

“When you retire you will have access to a machine that will play all of the footage in this case. Look at them both of them leaving shoulder to shoulder, you can’t get a cigarette paper between them. Still he persists with the lie he was not aware of (the youth) being there.”

But JC also said these lies to his gaming companion who testified in Court.

I know---that is odd.
I thought they would focus on alleged lies he may have told in court---like he denied he ever punched the child. She claims he did.

And he said that AW gave him the PJ top to go dispose of. She denies that and says she was asleep at the time. Why aren't they going him after things she actually accused him of lying about in court?

This gobbledegook must surely be the reporter screwing up. Surely a barrister can use better words than this. It’s like reading a really bad Google translate.

At least she had something in her stomach to throw up. She didn’t skip meals the day before.

AW's defense is don't let the fact that the lights went on and off in Logan's bedroom when she claimed to be asleep and yet she was the only person in the house make you think that her reaction on the body cam footage was fake. That's pathetic.

We should give Mr R time.
He is only beginning and seems to have a lot to say.

I think part of the problem is we are only getting little snippets of the closing statements. It makes it seem very disjointed but it might be more cohesive than it seems when we just get it in little bits and pieces.

Indeed. And it is possibly being edited before being released - if any references to the youth have to be removed.

He told the same lies to a friend who gave evidence.
