Police are appealing for help from the public to locate a missing man from Bristol who is thought to have taken a taxi during the early hours of this morning, Friday, February 28. Missing Luis was last seen just after 3am in Eastgate Retail Park.

The 26-year-old was was wearing black baggy jeans with a diamond pattern, grey and cream trainers and a black and grey Rapha gilet and a black Rapha cap. Luis' family have said that it is out of character for him to go missing.

Lius' sister, Lulu, has posted that "he left a very distressing voicemail that he was in danger at 3 am and tried contacting the police" and that "his belongings have been found in different locations". It seems that he was heading back towards his home in Frenchay (Bristol), but I don't understand why he has exited the taxi some 2.5 miles short of his destination. Did he run out of money? Has he had some sort of psychotic episode?

Avon and Somerset Police have updated their appeal for Luis, adding a few details and some CCTV stills. We are informed that Luis has a cartoon-style tattoo of a man, a car and a cherub on his arm and a Vespa motorbike tattooed on his stomach. He does not have access to his mobile phone or any money.

There appears to be an man-made watercourse running very near to Luis was last seen, which is worrying, even more so as it appears to then disappear into a culvert. The area seems to have the same "urban jungle" feel to it as the area in which Jack O'Sullivan was last seen, some three miles away, almost exactly a year ago.

The area around the retail centre and the park are busy all throughout the night. The lake going from eastville park and along is popular with dog walkers, family’s etc.

The helicopter was out for a good couple of hours searching the area this morning.

I’d be interested to know where his belongings were found. If he was trying to walk home, the quickest way would be to walk through the park and through snuff mills.

I don’t find the area to be nearly as confusing - it is a retail park so there are some bleak looking areas, but the bit that’s under the m32 is actually a skate park and there are plenty of homes around. However, it’s very close to Eastville park (which has a lake) and if he was attempting to walk to Frenchay he’d also pass near snuff mills and river Frome.

They said he was travelling from a venue in little Ann street so presumably the jam jar. It’s honestly a pretty wholesome music venue/club, not seedy at all. You can check the reviews and see that it’s not dodgy at all. This is the event that was on last Thursday, finished at 3am Get Weird & Mitha present: Global Dance Music at The Jam Jar

Honestly, working in a music venue myself, also in Bristol, this scares the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 out of me. We have a great, well trained team who really cares. We really try to watch out for the well-being of anyone that comes in, and even have welfare staff to check on anyone who may be having a hard time for whatever reason. But you never know what may happen after people leave to go home.

''Olympic judoka Lubjana Piovesana has issued a desperate plea for help in finding her missing brother, Luis, as police express growing concern for his safety.

The 26-year-old disappeared in Bristol early Friday morning after leaving his sister a distressing voicemail at 3am, saying he was in danger.

Since then, his belongings have been discovered scattered in different locations, heightening fears for his well-being.''
'He was last seen near Ikea in Bristol and heading in the Frenchay direction. He has no phone, wallet, keys or money. He made a call to the police that he was in danger at 3am and was last seen running at 3.30am. ''

Here is a report from ITV news West Country. Apologies for the Facebook link, I couldn’t find the video elsewhere. Hopefully everyone can access it.

  1. March 3 2025

  2. 2.55am

Luis was seen getting into a taxi near Jam Jars in St Jude's.
  3. 2.59am

Luis gets out of the taxi.

It is unclear if he got out on the M32 or Mila Road.

  4. 3.04am

Luis phones the police to say that he is on the motorway and has been drugged.

    The call is then disconnected.
  5. Around 3.04am

A phone call is made to the police about a man walking on the motorway.

Police are dispatched, but no one was seen on the M32.
  6. CCTV footage

A number of CCTV sightings of Luis have also been reported.

He was first seen behind the Ikea store in Eastgate Retail Park before he is seen running through the car park towards the Burger King.
  7. Luis' bag is left

Luis' bag and phone were found in the area near the Burger King.

His family believes he put his bag down while he caught his breath from running from Ikea.
  8. Luis throws his phone

CCTV then shows Luis looking back over his shoulder from behind a bush.

He then throws his phone into the bush and runs away.
  9. Tesco CCTV

Luis is then seen at the Tesco petrol station where he walks across the roundabout.

He then enters the Tesco car park, towards the M32 before footage then shows him leaving.
  10. Last see around 3.30am

The last known footage of Luis was taken around 3.30am where he is seen at the large roundabout in front of the Tesco.
  11. Mystery around lost wallet

Luis' wallet was also found on the mound near to where he was last seen, but it is not clear how it ended up there.''

MOO - I wonder if he got sick in the uber/taxi or was too intoxicated - which would make sense if he was drugged. Then he gets kicked out of the uber and has no idea where he is. He looks like he's running in the CCTV footage.

I have unfortunately been drugged before and it's a really, really weird feeling because you are lucid in the moment but know that something is off and you have no short term memory about where you are or what you are doing.

from this article:
"We are quite sure he's travelled in the direction of Frenchay. He hasn't made his way all the way home, we know that, and we've seen on CCTV he hasn't made it to a certain point. But right now we haven't had any sightings."

These seem to be the only CCTV cameras available, so I assume the "certain point" he hasn't reached is one of these cameras.

MOO

There is sad news coming through about Luis. An Avon and Somerset Police statement reads:

A body has been found in the search for missing 26-year-old Luis Piovesana.

At around 6pm today (Monday 3 March), a dive team was searching the River Frome in the Napier Road area of Eastville, Bristol, when they located a body.

While formal identification has not yet taken place, detectives have met with Luis' family and updated them.

I have just been reading about this case. Rip.
It’s very sad news especially considering it’s around the same area where Jack O’Sullivan was last seen. The fact he actually called the police whilst in the taxi is very concerning, something obviously spooked him. Jmo

Not really around the same area, it’s about 6 km away or a 20 minute ride, probably more depending on traffic. Same city yes, but pretty far apart.

it’s really sad, to me it really sounds like he was having a mental health emergency or a bad trip. I really hope they check the cameras at the jam jar to see if he was spiked.

He took a taxi at 2:55 and was out by 2:59. At 3:04 he called police and 25 minutes later he was still walking in circles around Eastgate. It doesn’t seem like normal behaviour, and he seemed unsteady on his feet in some of the cctv.

In the last cctv he can be seen running towards the top corner of the Tesco car park - and they said he was last seen near the click and collect stand, going towards the roundabout. That far area of the car park backs directly onto the river (the wooded area in this image).

There is a low, flimsy fence along there, it’s really quite unsafe. I checked on street view and there’s a sign warning of the water but it’s not very noticeable and considering the picture is from 2019, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s completely covered by the overgrowth.

I mean look at the other one further down in the picture from 2012 vs 2019.

If someone was there at night, scared, running and potentially in an altered state of mind, they may very well hop the fence trying to hide, not knowing that it leads directly to the river. He was found mere meters from there.

I really hope they look into this possibility and fix it, because it’s unacceptable how often things like this happen.
