I hope it's her as well, 14 years is a long time be waiting and wondering.

Her children would be 26 and 19 now, both born in Portsmouth. Electoral records show LA & DA in Hampshire 2002 and Warwickshire 2003. But I thought testing showed the deceased woman had lived around the Lancashire area (which would make more sense in terms of where she was found)
Interesting. So they would have been roughly 12 and 7 when she went missing.

They would need to be told something about where their mother was.

ETA: all hypothetical at the moment.

Yes, definitely all hypothetical. I think LA might have had an older son too, from before her marriage... maybe.

EDIT found the obituary that wtiger refers to and yes, it would check out that LA had 3 children. The eldest has her maiden name and is still in Lancs.

I believe that the children had asked and were informed that their mother had returned to thailand to marry someone else.
Not sure whether this has been printed here but...the uk press reports do not cover the whole content of the seekanya family press conference....it exists online printed in thai....the translation is sketchy at best but does clearly say that the son had been told this story about his mother returning to thailand

Whatever the kids were told they must be in shock at the prospect that their mum was dead all this time.

You've done a lot of legwork on this, wtiger, what's your gut feeling, you think this is Lam?

And wondering if their Dad is responsible. I hope they've got people to support them through the next few weeks until the DNA results come back.

Well yes, that too. Do you think it's likely her?

Anyone sussed out where DA and the kids live?

Well, media did print her name now, a bit irresponsible I think as murder investigation is ongoing and dna tests are not complete yet.

But here it is from the same article:

Police said she may have been a "Thai bride". On Thursday a Thai couple came forward to say they believed she may be their daughter, Lamduan Seekanya.
---
The couple, Joomsri Seekanya, 72, and her husband Buasa, told a news conference last week their daughter married a British man in 1991 and moved to north-west England shortly after.

Parents DNA-tested in 'Thai bride' cold case

If it does not turn out to be the same woman, if nothing else, the family of the "missing " woman may learn more about her whereabouts due to the publicity raised in this case, imo.

Funnily enough i have no real hunch either way here.I will say that nothing would surprise me with a case like this one.

I always say that murders tend to occur for a surprisingly small range of motives....95% are drugs, money or sex

Unfortunately with uk/thai relationships its all too common for money to be the motivation for the female to relocate to the uk.
In this case, the fact that the money tap from uk to the seekanya family appears to have been turned off in accordance with the timings of this unfortunate ladies demise.
Id say that its quite a coincidence if this does not happen to be her.
I just hope that the children are safely out of harms way...because despite thorough searching,i find not a trace of them anywhere!

Perhaps it is also worth commenting on the recent case in Helmsley (also north yorks) where a japanese family had lived for 20 years in that village and literally nobody there was aware of the fact that one of them had seemingly vanished off the face of the earth......,until some builders went to do a bit of roofing work and smelled the unmistakeable scent of decay coming from the loft!
Despite them having lived in Helmsley for 20 years, nobody could tell the police anything ay all about the family..not even so much as a name!
Sometimes fact really is stranger than fiction

Mystery surrounds the discovery of human remains at a Yorkshire cottage where neighbours reported seeing a child at the window

I can't either, not a sniff. Just spent a fun hour face-stalking the wrong family, but they had some great pictures :p

Joking apart, I have seen someone on another site mention they have found DA facebook but I'm damned if I can find it. Got (what I think is) the older child - KS - but his friends list isn't public and a scan through his likes hasn't yielded anything yet.

Same here!
As mystic meg would have put it......

My crystal ball sees that the middle name "stuart" may be useful in relation to the gentleman in this case. :))

"Mrs Lamduan met a Briton in Chiang Mai. He was an English teacher at a school in Bangkok. They were married in a wedding ceremony held at her parents’ house in Phen. The couple had two children and the family later moved to the UK, according to the mother, who said her daugther’s last name after the marriage was Armitage. Mrs Jumsri did not say how many years her daughter had been married."
“We miss her and are worried about her,” Mrs Jumsri said. “I have dreamed of her several times. In one dream, she said she was very cold and wanted to go home.”

From Thai news and Thai charity in UK for women, who are helping now on this case, they have reported on 25th Jan that green jeans Jane Doe was found in looks identical to green jeans Lamduan Seekanya is seen wearing in one of her photos.

Letters she sent to family are also postmarked from Lancashire, matching her location to isotope testing of Jane Doe.
