Hi!

I did wonder if she tried swimming for a while, so possibly further downstream (hence missed by LE divers at scene) and when PF started searching, what a full 9 days later (?) her potentially being further downstream due to floating. Another posted suggested that the window for floating is wide. Got this from a web search 'As a former search and rescue diver, and someone who has done more river searches than I care to think about, I think I can answer this. For a body to float its about three days… maybe five if its winter..'.

Perhaps this is why the search has moved to the sea area.

Hi yourself, I found more from the expert brought in who states there would have been around 2 feet of water and had she slipped, some stories state there were slippery sides, that she simply had to stand up. He previously stated he had proof the water was slow moving on the day. I can't think of any reason why she swam or floated. Apparently all was well in her life also, she was happy.

I had wondered if she had maybe gone in the water to rescue her dog, sometimes people get into difficulty when doing that. But the dog was bone dry. The water apparently not deep or fast moving and there's a video of a floating log staying put.
However they have also searched quite far from the bench where the dog and bench were.
It seems to me from all that is said to very odd.

Just because there is no sign of a struggle it doesn't mean she didn't leave with someone for whatever reason.

Was the ground around there dry or wet and muddy if anyone knows?

The harness you would think would be on the dog or the bench, but the dog may have moved it to the ground from the bench. Was the dog allowed to run free or somehow got out of the harness. I am curious about what happened with the dog. It's stated that this was somewhere they went daily so there would be a routine with the dog and whether they were allowed to run free.

It's also mentioned the dog was distressed and agitated, is this normal for their dog? Was this exaggerated for the story? Maybe they were just distressed at being left alone.

I find the police determination that this is just a missing person quite restrictive, after this length of time and with equally no evidence of her falling in the water as to any crime taking place, does not appear as being open minded.

This story mentions a scruffy red van being reported by various people as parked in the area, preceding Nicola's disappearance too.

'Unfortunately, we continue to see groundless and hurtful abuse of innocent people, including witnesses and local businesses, which is totally unacceptable

We also continue to see a huge amount of commentary from so-called experts, ill-informed speculation and conspiracy theories which is damaging to the investigation, the community of St Michael’s and, worst of all, to Nicola’s family. It must stop.'

Good to see this.
They are acknowledging the harm being caused.

from Channel 5 news - PA says he wants every house and grounds searched!!
he looks sleepless as expected from the distress

The police have said that they are open-minded about how she may have entered the river - as well as open-minded about other hypotheses - if they can find any evidence of an alternative ( to falling in the water)

Each time they've been asked by reporters how NB might have fallen in the water, they have been careful to caveat it as just an illustration by saying that it's only speculative

I, personally, would be screaming this from the rooftops.

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed> ... Infinite made an interesting point that a mannequin could take a different route downriver every time you put it in the river, you would have to put it in many times (like many ducks) to find out if any one route was ever taken more than once, and that might never happen.
Even if the same person fell in twice in the same place, they may not end up in the same place.

It also occurs to me that, a human body wrapped in the equivalent of a sleeping bag (the long gillet) which arrives at the weir lying parallel to the weir, even in shallow water, could possibly be rolled over the weir even by a gentle pushing current and in shallow water? whereas the sheep who stop at the weir might not roll, as their 4 legs are placed at a different angle which may get them stuck.

thanks for the snippets ( haven't watched it)

wondering about the mechanism - practically

Is he appealing to the community to voluntarily open their doors by invitation to LE? ( Legally LE can't, unless invited -they wouldn't be able to get a magistrate to sign off search warrant)

It may well have been irresponsible reporting, but I’m personally glad that the U.K. is not a country in which the police decide what journalists may or may not write.
Are you? Even if it jeopardises an ongoing investigation and potentially limits what evidence they can take to trial?

Has it been mentioned on C5 tonight at 9pm, there's an hour long programme on about it
I take it the signal is okay these days?

Think suggesting his opinion to the reporter in the docu.

I guess LE could search if they believe there is criminality involved and a small bit of evidence could do the trick here

If a dog is unsettled because either they have seen their owner fall in the water or their owner has just disappeared, how would they react if a stranger came along and tried to tie them to a bench?

So confirmed, the police didn’t approve the story about the red van. Very irresponsible reporting.
do you know who has confirmed that please?

It's not jeopardising anything.
Police said they are aware and are looking into it.

Tell you what is jeopardising the investigation:
Allowing tourists to turn the scene into mud.

IMO

correct - they have to have sufficient evidence. It's just the law. and ofc they don't make the law but they have to follow it

I am a bit confused by this. Has the lake at Rowanwater definitely been searched ? This link says it is 6 foot deep and has lodge type houses around it. It is quite a large body of water

It does seem fairly accessible from Garstang Road and maybe her dog ran there.

No word of it ever being searched or even mentioned by police. Again huge error imo. It caught my attention right away as it's near where she was last spotted

The latest release on their website.
Thankyou
( I'd tweeted to a reporter this morning asking him whether he'd got official confirmation of this. I didn't expect him to reply ofc but you know.....)

Whenever a link/ journalist uses the phrase ' reportedly' it's a bit of a red flag ( unless they link to a source of that report) It's basically a crafty getaround
