I can’t help getting a feeling the phone was left at this bench in front of that sign on purpose as a deliberate pointer that she’s in the water ie throwing everyone off track of another possibility.
I see where you’re coming from, and if someone did that they must know the area extremely well. But equally, that could just be coincidence.

Does anyone know if Nikki sometimes sat at that bench, I wonder?

I don’t think she wore EarPods otherwise they’d have been mentioned. Besides, her family have said she often listen to calls on loudspeaker. On top of that, it’s unlikely she’d want EarPods in when she’s walking the dog as she’d need to listen out for things.
If she was on a teams call from 9am, then I think she would of done, it's rather difficult to listen to your phone on loudspeaker whilst walking a dog, you would need to be carrying it in your hand, if it was in your pocket you wouldn't hear it

maybe they will allow him because it's multi-agency

They already have involved:
HM Coastguard,
local mountain rescue
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service
North West Police Underwater Unit
RNLI

as well as Lancs Police ( & dogs, drones, helicopter)

'Officers have scoured the river bed with modern underwater drones, which are similar to mini submarines equipped with cameras operated by someone on land or on a boat.

Police diving teams will continue to comb the river bed of the Wyre in the area close to the bench over the weekend, while the Costguard and the RNLI will continue checking the tidal stretch out to Fleetwood and Morecombe Bay.'

I don’t know the specifics of private agencies getting involved with Search & Rescue operations in the UK - but it is worth noting that all of the organisations you have mentioned (whether volunteer or professional) are governed by the Government’s UK SAR Operator’s Group - which helps to ensure co-ordination, operational standards and regulation.

I believe this has been mentioned a few times but it seems odd that the police haven't been widely sharing images of NB and her clothing (even if it was examples of what she was wearing)? You see this all the time in similar investigations. The latest report is the first time I've seen this really mentioned? Nicola Bulley: Doorbell camera captures missing dog walker leaving home for the last time

LE statement on Friday was clear; for people to take particular note of the exact descriptions of what she was wearing but didn't share any images - now it's in the MSM from (presumably) her own doorbell cam?!

Remember what a gilet is - it is sleevLESS over jacket covering just the main body/Chest/back area and leaving the arms uncovered fro ease of movement
I've never seen a hooded gilet - but I expect you can get them from somewhere....
You can get hooded gilets; I've got one! Usually it's a quilted hood that's the same as the body, sometimes they have a jersey lining and hood.

I can’t see an ankle length gilet though, albeit she could have put that on over the top
I hadn't taken note of the "ankle length" gilet. She's wearing this black knee length gilet in her FB photos, so I knew what it looked like.

You definitely can, I have 3 with hoods, quite a normal garment ime

The lack of cctv/street cam footage of her on the day is a concern for me. Not one photo or video of her yet released. They’re either not wanting to release it yet or they don’t have any. After all this time you’d think an actual photo/video would really help jog people’s memories.
She definitely dropped her girls off at school and definitely too Willow into the fields as she met a dog Walker she knew and they spoke. But yes, I agree that it’s unusual why police haven’t released a CCTV image of her to jog people’s memories. Especially as it would show exactly how she was dressed.

Either they don’t have any if she happened to unwittingly escape capture on camera, or they don’t want to release it for some unfathomable reason.

why would a friend or police release video or audio if it adds nothing to investigation and is not necessary. These are the last images the family have of NB. <modsnip>
I can totally understand why the friends and family would do this to keep the story at the top of the news agenda and equally why the police haven't for the reason you give

Does anyone know what colour her car was? Because that coat looks exactly the same colour as her car. If her car is black then it's clearly just some camera distortion, but if her car is dark blue, I don't see how she can possibly be wearing a black jacket in those images

I have never discounted the fact that NB might haven fallen into the river. But …… One scenario which has been playing in my mind is that perhaps it wasn’t accidental.

Let me put it this way ….. Like what had occurred a few times in London tube stations. One person with MH issue who pushed a random stranger onto the railway track/ oncoming train.

Hence, I’ve always warned my son not to stand too close to the yellow line whilst waiting for his train. If possible, make sure that your back is against the wall.

Now, what’s the likelihood of that???
This scenario has always been "no2" in my head. It certainly can account for the little amount of time it could take, escalating in a few seconds to a simple push with unintended consequences, and would not necessarily leave any evidence. Perp thinks "oh <modsnip>" and simply walks off.

I suspect that the Police are correct in their assumption of what happened and that we will never know the exact trigger for her entering the water. In this eventuality there's no crime, just an unfortunate event.

However, there are other possibilities and her friends and family are clearly not ruling them out. That seems reasonable.

Apologies for the question if it's already been asked/answered, but there's a lot to get through!

Has it been established in which NB was walking when the second witness saw her at 9.10am - towards Rowanwater or back to Allotment Lane?

I think that's very possible, I'm sure I'm not the only person who starts off in one set of clothes then changes coat if I'm going to be going for a walk. I can quite imagine loading the car then popping back inside to

JMO
Agreed. She could have had a coat to wear in the car to keep the seat clean and changed into 'dog-walking clothes' knowing she might get wet and muddy - brushing past shrubs and long grass, off Willow, even dirt kicking up off soft ground as she walked. Same with being described as wearing 'ankle boots' in the picture; something clean and easy to drive in, and wellies for walking?

And if you read the last 20 posts here you will see why they didn't choose these photographic captures from cctv..
Black clothes.
People compare to Sarah Everard who was wearing lovely bright noticeable clothing.
These are very fuzzy and with cctv typical distorted colours and would have lead to more confusion. IMO

Thanks, very useful link
( He is saying that he has now been accepted to go & assist the other agencies, at this link from local newspaper)

Wind and rain could obliterate any scuff marks or boot prints.
Plus other people’s footprints who’d initially gone looking for her.

Im not 100% but the car appears to be a Mercedes GLE from the exhaust pipes and rear reflector location. They certainly come in dark blue and black.

I think the coat we see her in is dark blue. The black gilet described by police is seen in the other photos shared of her from social media I believe.

The doorbell showing Nicolas outfit:

Coat doesn’t look ankle length as police mentioned and that it would be unmanageable plus wellies don’t look wide around the top so they fill will water

That coat looks like she wears it open. Wouldn’t it have come off in water by now? Where are her car keys? Again would they not be found by now.

It was more that she ran to stop the dog attacking something, rather than something floating in the river. Something I’ve experienced before, not an overly passionate nature lover but I also couldn’t sit by watching my dog killing something

Definitely something I would have thrown my phone, bag etc down for from personal experience (again, just my own option/loose theory as to why she would be near the waters edge at all)
I understand what you mean, but Cocker Spaniels are gentle dogs and don’t usually kill rodents or small animals. It can’t be ruled out, of course, but most wild small animals keep themselves hidden from dogs and cats, so whilst it’s possible it’s unlikely IMO.
