Howard Millington used to be Detective Superintendent of GMP’s Serious Crime division
I have always thought that an empty caravan site at this time of year is a good place to search. Can’t believe this guy is being criticised the way he is. He offers for free, other chances of finding the body (or ruling out that it is there) plus a different approach to finding the body than has been used previously.
In addition, his input has further raised the profile of this case, at times when other news stories are pushing this one further down the order.
My own thought as per posting last Tuesday, is that NB is not in the river, or if she is then it was not an accident - just my opinions of course.
Surely this site will have been searched by now. I am really not clear on what they have searched so far. As you say, searching there makes a lot of senseI have always thought that an empty caravan site at this time of year is a good place to search.
I appreciate that it is supposed to be closed but what better time to hide someone there at this time of year.
Another mark William Thomas thenNot that I agree with this approach, but he's a former Detective Chief Inspector who worked on the Sarah Payne case.
If we were her family, I think we would all want him searching too - whether he is to a some or bigger extent self-serving.The bottom line for me is he’s currently out there searching the river. Let’s hope it helps in some way.
The presser outlined clearly what they had searched. Their land search was a 1 km radius from bench site. This included private lands and gardens and was conducted by experienced police searchers.Surely this site will have been searched by now. I am really not clear on what they have searched so far. As you say, searching there makes a lot of sense

He didn’t say that in his initial interview - <modsnip>=

EXCLUSIVE: Forensic expert, Peter Faulding, says he believes Nicola Bulley ‘is not in the river at all’ and adds: “None of this rings right to me”

It's Garstang.indeed !! But Hardang is in my head now ! Don’t know why
By public information I guess you mean Facebook and stava, to have seen either of those you would have had to have known they existed pre NBs disappearance, you would have had to actually know her name and have some kind of Ill intentIMO
The amount of publicly available information regarding NB, her walk routines etc combined with the 'local knowledge' a 'local' would have dampens the sophistication level required but generally agree with you.
i didn't see that quote in the article you linked?Hi everyone. Joined WS during the awful Sarah Everard case and have been lurking on this one too.
Just seen PF now stating “I do believe she is in the river from the evidence we have”. Interesting. Perhaps there is evidence that we know nothing about yet?
(Hate to quote DM but here’s the link to the press interview )
Who is the 'Human Mole' leading the hunt for missing Nicola Bulley?
Concur.By public information I guess you mean Facebook and stava, to have seen either of those you would have had to have known they existed pre NBs disappearance, you would have had to actually know her name and have some kind of Ill intent
If that was the case you wouldn't be relying on checking her FB photos you'd already be in stalker territory
It's easy to think that because we know the info exists after the fact that someone was actively using it beforehand and imo that just doesn't happen
JMO
someone mentioned that process on an earlier thread, although in my opinion I don't see why the police would let the public know that the case is being reviewed. Of course they may do now, in response to the pressure - MOOYep and he says its time for an outside force to review the case as is normal procedure after 9 days.
Yes, they did emphasize empty buildings.Quite a few people have said something like "surely XYZ place will have been searched" (e.g. referring to the caravan site). IMO, and going on the words of the presser where the police SIO Riley said the search "included open ground, empty buildings and their gardens". Here's the key point, the police simply cannot and will not search a private property (which includes the caravan site) without a warrant. Given that the police appear very confident this was as accident, have never mentioned a suspect, I think it is highly, HIGHLY unlikely that any private property has been searched.
