The good thing is that they are going upstream tomorrow starting at the bench area which i think is what everyone wanted .IMOThis is confusing me now...

Is this bridge up on the same route they’ve been searching or back the opposite way?
A few of you are wondering if Peter Faulding has seen the fitbit data. (Unlikely unless they have the actual fitbit IMO) However it does seem that NB a big Strava user. She's got a pro Strava account, and hadn't bothered updated her fitbit for a few days. I'm wondering whether she recorded her Friday walk with the strava app on her phone, maybe using Strava Beacon, which would show her location whilst holding the phone more accurately than phone mast data. It's also unlikely because it would drain a lot of battery when she was meant to be on a teams call, but just putting it out there as a JMO idea.
I wonder why he is searching the river if he really believes that. Why waste your time?

It’s the weir I think. The picture looks to have been taken in summer with the water level being low.Just wondering if anybody knows what this is circled on Google maps. Is it some kind of bridge ? I understand there is are two separate paths you can take back towards Blackpool Ln/Garstang. The one NB came through at the turn style and then another step over gate to the left (if your looking towards Blackpool lane bench side) There is a video circulating with a man and dog at night showing the man step over it. Is there an exit on this path either back on to path NB came from or out to Blackpool lane? Does this path lead to what I have circled? Or is just a fenced off field?

Great post, I also lived near the Thames. Slightly different situation here I think but I am no expert. The Thames is wider, the Wyre is much narrower and deeper in certain places. I am not a great swimmer but I would like to think it would be natural to fight to survive. Nicola was wearing heavy clothing and boots and sadly I think the shock of cold water would make it very tough for her to swim once in and there may not have been anything for her to hang on to. I am really hoping that this is not the case and there is an alternative explanation. My thoughts again to her family.I went the other way - it was narrower, slower and the banks less steep than I had imagined. But I’m used to the Thames in London which is fast and massive.
Granted I’ve done quite a bit of wild swimming and lifesaving practice, but I’m the same size as NB and I wouldn’t anticipate major difficulty getting out of the Wyre there. The biggest challenge is simply the cold water shock. As long as you keep your head above the water it doesn‘t take that long to acclimatise and your breathing to calm down.
Also - to the left of the bench there is actually a tree growing right down in the river. So you could just head for that to hold onto and/or to help you get out.
NB most people who fall into the Thames are found. I live near it and I can’t think of a case where someone fell in and wasn’t found. Even the Marchioness disaster - they found all the bodies, someone I knew among them.

No wonder everyone was banging on about a ball literally the title of this article….Out towards the estuary.
DM but prev drowning body found at shard bridge Boy, two, drowned in river police believe claimed Nicola Bulley' life
I think there are so many variables. It could be different every time you test even in the same location. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but would be really interested to see at test of a water/ sea rescue manikin in the place and see what happens to it.
Yes that’s what I am thinkingI think police coaxed him a bit today, make
out we are on the same page so to speak. Now he has been in the river today he may have a better feel for it. Jmo IMO
This was mooted way back. I think it was discounted as being impractical due to the varying conditions. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but would be really interested to see at test of a water/ sea rescue manikin in the place and see what happens to it.
Thank youIt’s the weir I think. The picture looks to have been taken in summer with the water level being low.
There’s a stile next to the bench which gives access to that field. Down by the weir there is a building which has vehicle access via a gated track with access from allotment lane.
Ah, the fisherman.Fishermen were mentioned at one point. @ayrshireguy where was this?
Is it a mishmash of old reports mixed with new?I wonder why he is searching the river if he really believes that. Why waste your time?
