I still believe she is in the water, but if she's not, I think the abductor must be quite an intelligent person. To be able to mislead the police for such a long time requires above average intelligence, I think.

Are you sure?
Yes, I've been unconscious in the view of that frame after falling of a rope swing. I've also been driven across it in a Triumph Dolomite back in the days .....

It goes to the weir and from there I believe there is wide (ie vehicle) access up across the river path to Allotment Lane. This exit has been ruled out by police (CCTV coverage most likely).

I wonder if there is a fordable part of the river upstream from the the weir which could have been used by NB or an abductor but it's hard to tell from aerial maps so is just idle speculation JMO
Thanks, I think this is the direction the police stated was not covered by CCTV. I wondered if there was another way out apart from the river path or Allotment Lane.

The path by the weir looks a lot more remote than the river path but probably more visible than it looks on Google earth

Can someone enlighten me as to what NB did as a profession ? Just out of interest as I haven’t heard it mentioned ? I’m sure I heard something about working from home or was that just the husband ?

An ‘abductor’ is rarely a professional abductor who fits a mould r works to a certain skill set. Normally any person who has a massive grievance or hated or passion for another person that is driving him to act in this manner. Do in this case an abductor would probably be someone intensely attracted to her / outraged by something/ jealous / driven to extreme behaviour … maybe because they’ve stopped thinking rationally. So my natural inclination thinks that it is a relative newcomer into her life who has become a little obsessed. She is extremely attractive I think and sadly would draw admirers
Fair comment, but my point is more that if this were an abduction, the perp has picked an extremely challenging scenario in which to pull it off and also go undetected. This seems highly unlikely. If done impulsively in a poorly chosen location, they'd simply get caught.

I wanted to abduct someone, I'd rent a white Transit, park it on a non-residential road I know the target walks along, then bundle her into the back of it as s/he walked past. Simple both to do and to get away with.

I have found the Google camera work by John Boase of Wyre Web Design useful for the river landscape at the top fields. Also, these videos of a Land Rover fording the Wyre at Garstang
Could a vehicle have been in the river near the top field, bundled Nicola in and gone out via a lane that was not covered by CCTV. Does anyone know the precise location of this bridge in the You Tube vid?

This is in garstang - 53°54'33.1"N 2°45'55.6"W · Lancashire, UK

Interesting though.

I think the repetitiveness of a lot of these posts are due to the different reports of the details, and some changing from the police themselves. There just seems to be some confusion out there, and as we have pretty much zero evidence of anything having gone on, we're picking holes in the details we have. We're all at a loss and just trying to talk things about.
The house rules limit what can be discussed so it's inevitable. If you want to go off piste you'd have to originate a private chat.

I used the bone as a example. Anything a dog would run to and chew on. The dog was a spaniel it wasnt a violent pitbull dont think a baseball bat would of been that necessary
Pit bulls are not violent but they’re banned in the UK anyway.
The point is, making an abduction when someone is walking their dog is risky. Dogs are excellent at judging body language and if someone approached me I wasn’t sure of, or had an altercation with there’s a chance you’re going to get bitten by one of mine. They would certainly bark in distress.
Not only did NB have a dog with her but she was also on a zoom call which is also another risky move if you’re going to attack someone unless you are positive that the call is on silent.
Dogs don’t act like they are portrayed in movies, you can’t chuck them a tasty bone and have them happily sit down and eat it.

Same issue though Russ. If you're an abductor, a bone or decoy might not work. Depends on the dog. A baseball bat OTOH - sure to work. If you don't care about your victim, you sure won't care about the dog.

If the target was going to be walking a pit bull, I venture to suggest you would find a different target altogether. People don't often win fights with pit bulls...

Someone posted on this thread that the police said they searched the abandoned house. I am just thinking......when exactly did they start the search? I think in the (unlikely) case of an abduction, the problem is that the police fairly quickly believed that she was in the water. This would give a perp a time advantage for removing potential evidence.
