I'm sorry, maybe it's because I've just worked a 13 hour shift and then sat in a traffic jam at 9pm but I have absolutely no idea what any of this means!

And I hate egg custards! Give me a scotch egg every time!!!!
Amen!! Ditch the egg custards, let’s have a scotch egg feast, boom <3 :D

Not sure if this is allowed in English cases, but if it is, was curious if a motive was established or mental health analysis was done. I mean, who mass murders babies?” Creepy case.

It's a northern thing, I think. My dad loved 'em :(
My granny was certainly not northern.. she loved them too. Always one in her kitchen every Wednesday afternoon. She prayed that treat every mid-week, each to their own of course but I still cannot fathom why, I’d rather eat my own farts iykwim ;)

Hmm, not quite :) It's soggy pastry containing a horrible egg mixture.

Edited to say: Sometimes the pastry is good and the egg mixture not so bad.
Disclaimer; horrible things whether the pastry is pants or not. Personally. :D

I love those Portuguese custard tarts as well. I made some once for a friend and they were a MONUMENTAL drag to do but …. Chefs Kiss !
I LOVE those. I used to visit Lisbon often as my ex was Portuguese and the absolute best custard tarts were from the little bakery in Sintra. They sold out every day before they even had a chance to cool down.

I don’t like either of those.

I’ll eat a custard slice but they’re a bit messy and I’ll up your scotch egg with a Melton Mowbray pork pie :p
Yes!! Pork pie, now we’re talking!! :D we should have two tables here; sweet vs savoury.. we could all leave the threads either with tooth decay or increases bmi.. or both! Let’s create a menu!!

Custard tarts are elite - up there with a pork pie
Until tomorrow, 10.30 sharp.
I’m sorry but you simply cannot put a pork pie on the same page with a custard tart. That’s just wrong. Custard tarts or not even in the same league :D

"It's a case almost too terrible to be real:

alleged killer nurse Lucy Letby is on trial for the murders of seven infants.

If she's convicted of the Chester Hospital deaths, it will make her the most prolific child killer in United Kingdom history."

Hello, no no definite single motive. Lots of speculation and various possible motives eg -
For attention (of various people inc colleagues and latterly the doc NJ called her boyfriend.
A superiority complex ie causing collapses to make other staff look less competent than her.
Out of malice against parents.
Malice against the victims (esp in case of twins/triplets possibly, because LL was brought up an only child and there was thought to be some issues linked to that).
Anecdotal evidence of her enjoying the drama of resus and seeming unaffected (cheerful) around parental grief.
She talked of fate and chance relating to the incidents with colleagues and was known to gamble - once soon after the collapse of Baby L I think (9 April '16). Maybe she harmed the babies and 'enjoyed' guessing (betting?) if they'd survive or not. Sick I know but it's a sick case.
I've no doubt missed other possible motives.

So there could be a mix of the above. Doubt there's just one.

Sorry - JMO if guilty.

Well, I couldn't narrow my preferences down much, so here is my order please: Cornish pasties, chocolates, chocolate anything, Cherry Bakewell tarts, Cornish fudge, any other fudge, trifle, caramel milkshakes, Andes Mints, Rocky Road, etc. You get the drift. And I'm actually not as fat as you might think!

PS plus some Scottish Tablet!

PPS Re Cornish pasties, you can cut them into 1" pieces and fry them in heaps of butter or margarine - to die for! Try it!

Hi. I commented a little on the early threads when I first joined WS in October, but I couldn't emotionally deal with this case, then, so I put it on the shelf. I've just spent the last few weeks reading through the threads and catching up. And I know I well and truly missed the window for the guessing competition, but I'm going to say I have a completely unofficial private guess of 50hrs that I don't think clashes with anyone else's, and if I'm close, the victory will be purely personal, just for my own gratification. :D

You know exactly which department I am referring to and it's not an exact acronym anymore.
I have absolutely no clue what you are referring to.

Care to enlighten me?

And what acronym?

A Long Sentence.
The more I think about the weight of this case and how it will be - and I wish only the babies would be - remembered for hundreds of years, literally - the more I realise that it will be not only what I earlier and deliberately termed the media ministry, but also highly likely the other obvious which again I will deliberately call the department of court cases will be, while of course ensuring that the judiciary is made to feel independent entirely and subject only to rules and histories in the common law as their guide, will in absolute terms be calling the precise shots on how this is handled inside the court, and directions in the same regard I am sure will be issued outside of the court, before the media storm ensues. Maybe a long sentence some of the barristers who didn't like my last post will make them feel that sentence and all its errata itself deserves a long sentence. However I can quite clearly see how it will be a quite obvious briefing that shall be daily given to the current LC, and the PM, and that the current M for the MoM as I have termed it, will be involved, surely, if not only to issue a national position on the matter to the M in the actual ministry's name, at the earliest possible time. All that takes positioning, a great deal of discussion, and time. I can't see how HH the J MG KC isn't going to be in regular contact at the highest of levels, and that restrictions will be very rigid until those mentioned give the go ahead (with appropriate deference to HH the J MG MC). I dare to conjecture there is far more going on in this case at the national level than Manchester CC and it is perhaps worthy of consideration as a bigger picture. That's all I am noting at the !moment. Maybe that's not relevant or doesn't make a lot of sense, but for some you will realise the absolute gravity of all of this. I say this without present experience or employ in respect of such matters at such levels but with a great deal of intuition and corroborating evidence I suppose. Sorry if this adds no value whatever, just my train of thought and a mere stream of dreamy consciousness.
I genuinely have not a single clue what any of this means? Not the faintest idea!
