Were we told why the judge issued the new direction? Did the jury say they were having difficulty arriving at a unanimous verdict, or is it just something that judges do after a certain amount of time has elapsed without a verdict?

Sorry if this has already been covered.

No - we are non the wiser.
Please tell me there will not be one more “ twist “ to this case.

Up to now my thoughts have been along the lines of the jury are being thorough and that's why they are taking so long. I was fairly relaxed about it.....but now..... I'm wondering whether they are having trouble making a decision.

I wonder what a usual time for deliberation would be after the judge's direction for a majority verdict? Would a few extra hours be reasonable or should we be thinking of days I wonder?

The mere thought of everyone involved having to go through all this again is unbearable

Sorry if anyone has already said this. I’m really curious to know why it would seem there are expectations in regards to how long a jury deliberates for? I would have thought the length of time was relative to the complexities of the evidence. For example a jury wouldn’t likely deliberate on one charge for as long as twenty two. I do find it interesting that this majority thing from the judge would give an indication.

I don’t know if they would? The crown may decide not to try her again.
It’s been a very costly, lengthy and resource-hungry investigation and trial. Just getting a general feel from various social media platforms there is a split right down the middle in terms of what people are leaning to. maybe 60:40 at best but it’s definitely nowhere near a unanimous or even a majority.

I hear you ..but I'd be suprised if they didn't retrial.
So many charges on super-vulnerable neonates? A defendant who has already been in prison years?
A nurse who is in a position of trust?
It surely needs sorting either way

Does anyone remember which incubators baby A and baby B were situated ? There are four incubators in room 1.

I'm not sure we ever knew?

Yeah I can’t seem to find it. I am going through each case again and I found it interesting that other nurses were present in room 1 with Letby before and at the time of the collapse. Nurse Melanie Taylor said she could see the incubator from where she was sat at the computer so I can only imagine it is one of two incubators just as you come through the door.

I see the two you mean. Any particular reason you're checking?

Yes I am creating a video series looking at the cases individually once the trial has concluded and I’m looking for a window of opportunity when the other nurses may have been distracted or busy elsewhere. As you can see room 1 is the largest of the 4 and may have afforded the opportunity for an attack to take place despite there being others present in the same room.

Just to add both Melanie Taylor and Caroline Bennion we’re in the room at the handover and Caroline was tending to Child B when child A began to decline.
